DynDOLOD 3.00 Alpha 173

Hi, I got the "Duplicates Not Allowed" exception while attempting to generate the Dynamic LOD for a load order with Open Cities.

I've been following the Dyndolod instructions for generating with Open Cities (the 2 parts).

This error occurred during the second part, with the OCS plugins enabled.

I understand that this is probably due to a plugin with duplicate form ids, and that loading the plugin in CK and saving will fix the issue; however, my situation is that the popup window didn't say which plugin had the duplicate, and I don't seem to be able to find which plugin had the duplicate from the dyndolod logs.  (FYI the exception link from the popup opened the unknown exception help document.)

I might try loading each OCS plugin in CK just in case, however knowing the particular plugin would simplify things.

If you can identify the plugin for me from the logs, or at least tell me how to find it in the logs?  I've seen the error in the log, it just doesn't say anything about a particular plugin.

I'm still figuring out how to install OCS.  I have JKs Skyrim and Dawn of Skyrim, and I included the JK Skyrim OCS patch, the DoS OCS patch, and the JKs DoS OCS patch.  I think I just need the JKS DoS OCS patch.  Anyways, I tried to finish generating Dyndolod with only the combined patch, and it completed successfully.  (I thought I read somewhere that I needed all three.)

Make sure you are using the updated DynDOLOD and DynDOLOD SE Resources linked in the OP. I would re-download and reinstall to be sure. Then reconnect in mod manager. Make sure no other previous Resources are conflicting. It's most likely a configuration problem rather than a DynDOLOD problem.

I've done 3 reinstalls.  Same thing every time.  I went back to Alpha 9's resource pack.  Loaded up fine.

When I run a search for the file, it looks like it's in the Dyn folder, though.

EDIT:  I just noticed that it's looking for casrubblepilebrown, rather than casrubblepile.  I checked my entire X drive.  I don't see anything that references that.

You are trying to use DynDOLOD Resources SE 3 Apha 10 with an older DynDOLOD 3 Alpha version, or maybe there are outdated files from an older standalone version not being replaced when the newer version was installed. Pay attention to the installation instructions.

Unpack the DynDOLOD Standalone archive into a new 'DynDOLOD' directory that is outside of special OS folders like 'Programs Files' or 'Program Files (x86)', User, Documents, Desktop, Download and also not in SteamApps, game or any mod manager folders.

I've been following the Dyndolod instructions for generating with Open Cities (the 2 parts).

This error occurred during the second part, with the OCS plugins enabled.

I understand that this is probably due to a plugin with duplicate form ids, and that loading the plugin in CK and saving will fix the issue; however, my situation is that the popup window didn't say which plugin had the duplicate, and I don't seem to be able to find which plugin had the duplicate from the dyndolod logs.  (FYI the exception link from the popup opened the unknown exception help document.)

I might try loading each OCS plugin in CK just in case, however knowing the particular plugin would simplify things.

If you can identify the plugin for me from the logs, or at least tell me how to find it in the logs?  I've seen the error in the log, it just doesn't say anything about a particular plugin.

Thanks for the comprehensive report. This is a bug in DynDOLOD and it will be fixed in the next version. It is not a problem a plugin.

Always include the debug logs as explained in the first post when making posts.

Read the troubleshooting section of the second post. I just added a "No Grass LOD Check List" section based on earlier discussions in this thread.
If all the checks did not reveal what the problem is, upload all files from from ..\DynDOLOD\Logs\*.* and ..\DynDOLOD\Edit Scripts\Export\*.* to a file service.

Pay attention to error messages in the TexGen log. Some grass billboard are not being generated. Maybe those grasses are not used or maybe they are exactly the grasses that are used where you are checking.

Pay attention to warning messages in the DynDOLOD log.
Convert wrong NiNode root nodes to BSFadeNode  with NifSkope
There seem to be outdated  tree LOD billboards in the load order. Do not install 3rd party billboards. Run TexGen right before running DynDOLOD. Make sure the output from TexGen is overwriting everything.
Clean the plugins that have deleted references.

@sheson This person did upload all logs as instructed. The missing ones are linked from this post. I had added the smaller logs myself on his/her behalf ... so my oversight.

Ah, gotcha.  I wasn't aware the base program had changed.

Hi, first of all, thank you so much for DynDOLOD.

I've spent the last few days trying to generate grass LOD and I think something is just not working. I can see a clear cutoff line for grass in these screenshots. Here is my GrassControl.config, fwiw. I'm trying to make this work with DynDOLODGrassMode = 2, so I have GrassLargeReference=1 in my \Edit Scripts\DynDOLOD\DynDOLOD_SSE.

Thank you for the checklist, btw

  • Check in the mod manager that there are ..\Data\Grass\[Worldspace]*.cgid grass cache files for the worldspace in the load order. Yes, the grass precaching finished successfully; I have about 7500 .cgid files at around 1.15 GB
  • Make sure TexGen is generating grass LOD billboards for grasses by checking its log ..\DynDOLOD\Logs\TexGen_SSE_log.txt. Pay attention to error messages and fix them. No errors that I can see; a ton of messages like Creating billboard C:\Modding\DynDOLOD\TexGen_Output\textures\terrain\lodgen\folkvangr - grass and landscape overhaul.esp\grass_mxgrassdry_marsh_large_0000087a with Meshes\landscape\grass\grass_mxgrassdry_marsh_large.nif Folkvangr - Grass and Landscape Overhaul.esp Grass_MXGrassDry_Marsh_Large [GRAS:FE01F87A] Full log here
  • Check the grass LOD billboards textures in the TexGen output with an image viewer show grass and are not fully transparent. Yes, I see a bunch of these, they're tiny and very pixelated grasses
  • Check the DynDOLOD debug log ..\DynDOLOD\Logs\DynDOLOD_SSE_Debug_log.txt contains <Notice: [Worldspace] Gathering grass data for object LOD> Yes, output is too large for Paste.ee but I see the "Gathering grass data" message for each worldspace
  • Check the DynDOLOD log ..\DynDOLOD\Logs\DynDOLOD_SSE_log.txt that there were no errors in the LODGen log and check the LODGen log ..\DynDOLOD\Logs\LODGen_SSE_[Worldspace]_log.txt directly that its last line is Code: 0. Yes, no errors in the DynDOLOD_SSE_log and my LODGen_SSE_Tamriel_log is also too big for Paste.ee but it does end with Code: 0
  • Check the object LOD atlas ..\DynDOLOD_Output\Textures\DynDOLOD\LOD\DynDOLOD_[Worldspace].dds contains some of the grass LOD billboards generated by TexGen. Yes, I have two atlas files for Tamriel, but I think I see the grass sprites in  DynDOLOD_Tamriel00
  • Check the export file ..\DynDOLOD\Edit Scripts\Export\LODGen_SSE_Export_[Worldspace].txt contains a line like GrassMap=..\DynDOLOD\Edit Scripts\Export\LODGen_SSE_Grass_Map_[Worldspace].txt. Check that GrassDensity is not 0. If it is very low, grass LOD may be very thin to non-existent. Yes, the file is too large for me to upload fully, but here's  partial output for LODGen_SSE_Export_Tamriel Grass density is 100 and GrassMap=C:\Modding\DynDOLOD\Edit Scripts\Export\LODGen_SSE_Grass_Map_Tamriel.txt
  • Check that ..\DynDOLOD\Edit Scripts\Export\LODGen_SSE_Grass_Map_[Worldspace].txt contains lines with grass LOD billboard texture names and paths in it. full file here I find this one a bit suspicious -- is that really all the grass billboards I have?
  • Open ..\DynDOLOD_Output\Meshes\Terrain\[Worldspace]\Objects\[Worldspace].4.x.y.bto and check visually if there is grass LOD in there. The many tiny X planes will be obvious.
  • To find a BTO that contains grass LOD, set expert=1 and verbose=1 in the ..\DynDOLOD\Edit Scripts\DynDOLOD\DynDOLOD_SSE.ini to start DynDOLOD in expert mode. Select the worldspace and click Execute LODGen. Once its done, check the LODGen log ..\DynDOLOD\Logs\LODGen_SSE_[Worldspace]_log.txt for lines like "Found z grass placements for LOD level 4 coord [x, y]". Check the BTO for the mentioned coordinates. This looks right to my untrained eye. Here's a screenshot of one of my btos in nifskopeI think the little x's are the grass LODs, right?

Please let me know if there's any more information I can provide -- I'm missing something dumb, right?

im only asking because i didnt see it mentioned in the posy, in the "dyndolod/edit scripts/dyndolod/dyndolod_sse.ini" you have set grass=1? 

if this isnt the issue and someone is able to work out what it is can you let me know, just because my issue seems very similar

Cathedral Landscapes grasses probably have object bounds and flags set properly while many of the others don't. The documentation goes into this a bit ... my guess is that the grass mod plugins need some tweaks.
