Enderal - Should I clean the master ESM files?

When modding Skyrim I'm accustomed thanks to STEP guides to first cleaning the the following master ESM files using xEdit:

Update.esm
Dawnguard.esm
Hearthfires.esm
Dragonborn.esm

Is this recommended for Enderal SE when installed from Steam?

I asked on the Steam discussions as well and overdev (an officer over there) says:

No please dont do that, it will only break things.

So it would seem it is best not to clean the files.

Definitely do NOT clean them. They are NOT the same files as in Skyrim. They have the same names, but it is all Enderal, NOT Skyrim.
