Additional Mods STEP Part 1 - 2

Hello all,

 

I would like to add some additional mods to my STEP install process and I understand that some of these might work and some might not.  I am here to get feedback and pros & cons or personal opinions for the following additions I would like to have/add to the STEP process.  This will probably be a 5 part post due to my current list of 'after' STEP mods being around 50 - 60, and not all are comparisons.  I would really appreciate any comments and help. Thanks again for your time.

About Lighting: I've run into trouble with most lighting mods out there (RLO, RLO + ElFX, RCRN, RCRN + ElFX) - lights are "dumb"? IDK how to name that, but only URWL gave good results in custom (from mods) cells (I mean these cells aren't completely without light - it's hard to describe). Add ELFX (works for me) and you have maybe not superior, but decent lighting solution.

 

2. Silent Skyrim is superior - there is BCF somwhere there which enables customization.

Balanced Magic: https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/2275 (though I think Better Magic is a good alternative)

If you only want the sneak attack sound removed, then it doesn't matter which mod you use. Silent Skyrim provides you with more options (it's the one I use).

I have yet to find a lighting mod that I'm happy with (but I haven't tried RLO yet; I'm waiting until it's fully released).

Stealth Skills Rebalanced: https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/28418 (this is my mod, so I'll admit to some bias) It has all the features that Improved Sneak Detection does and more, while not going so far as to change the entire dynamics of the sneak skill like Path of Shadows does. I have used both of the others though, and would choose Improved Sneak Detection over Path of Shadows if those were the only choices.  Also, up until just recently, I'd been using the Alchemy module from Path of Shadows, which is quite nice and well balanced and can be used with whichever sneak mod you decide on (I'm currently testing a few alternatives for the Alchemy tree and may or may not go back to using it).

I'm using the Sneak portion of Stealth Skills Rebalanced and I recommend it. It adds a lot more to stealth than the mods that just change NPCs light, sound, or distance sensitivity without changing the game as significantly as Path of Shadows does. I play a character that is primarily a mage and I also use Spell Sneak Attacks which I load after Stealth Skills Rebalanced. I built a patch that allows these two to work together. I don't use the Stealth Skills Rebalanced ACE patch since I prefer improving stamina regeneration to adding carrying capacity. I'd like to see a way to add the Camouflaged perk to the Sneak portion of Stealth Rebalanced without using the full version that changes three skills; I also use Lock Overhaul which is being considered as an addition to STEP.

 

I'd be interested what you come up with as an Alchemy mod.

Thanks for the feedback. Not to draw the topic too far off course, but I wanted to mention that I just had a question about Spell Sneak Attacks and Stealth Skills Rebalanced. You might be interested in the response I posted on the Stealth Skills Rebalanced page. Once I find the time to update the individual modules, the Sneak module will include the Camouflaged perk (it will be included on the Sneak tree in the FULL version, and will be available through the console if you choose the BASIC version).

 

As to the OP's question on economy mods, I'm currently looking into this myself and am interested in what others might recommend. They all seem to have pros and cons, and I've not really found one that is quite what I'm looking for just yet.
