Here are some comparison shots. 1024 for the mentioned mod matching the STEP textures used (Hybrids Plants and Herbs) I agree that current STEP looks dull in comparison.

Personally, I still prefer STEP here. CL is a bit comical and Mari's is drowned in shadowing.

Agreed that STEP is the better choice of the three.

I think Hybrids is best. CL looks pale and out of place with surroundings. Mari's is good, but too dark.

Hybrids is true to vanilla and looks to be using the vanilla texture for the entire plant but for the flowers/receptacle and the buds. I actually like the vanilla flowers/receptacles best, but Hybrids adds a bit of variation to the little buds. If vanilla SE plants all look as good or better than Hybrid's variants, then I question using that mod as well. I vote not to use Mari's thistle.
