With the latest Unofficial Skyrim Patch, I believe this can be removed.

You are correct. I'll be adding it to the change log for the next release since we've decided not to make removals or additions to the current release.

NIF Mesh and Texture Fixes

 

Ancient Nord Armor is missing parts in 1st person view. (meshes\armor\draugr\1stpersondraugrarmormale_1.nif, meshes\armor\draugr\1stpersondraugrarmormale_0.nif) (Bug #12444)

I'm surprised it took them this long to incorporate this fix.
