redirishlord Posted July 17, 2018 Posted July 17, 2018 Fodder for the Trello board; Bellyaches Animal and Creature Pack - for SSE, some files to be hidden: textures/actors/horker, /mammoth, /sabrecat to avoid conflicts with Kajaun & Gamwichs retextures & /wolf to preserve SkyTest-RAP. Additionally: textures/clutter for SkyTEST-RAP & textures/effects for Hi-Res Dragonfly. I'm bringing my own custom build more in compliance with the guide and noticed this difference in our setups. Doesn't look (at least at this point) like you have retextures for these miscellaneous animals, so I thought I'd make mention in case you want to throw it on the board for the Dev Team. All glory to the testers (and the hypnotoad if you are a Futurama fan)!
Kneph13 Posted July 17, 2018 Posted July 17, 2018 (edited) I am awed by your guide Lexy - just saying. Even if I wouldnt set out to do it all, there is so much there that is a solid foundation for building my own game. I keep going back and forth in my mind between SE and LE. I can't decide which to use for my next play.I notice from your guide that many of the mods on Nexus SE are poorly ported LE mods and have to be fixed up or niffed to be used safely. Some of them are mods I would consider essential eg Immersive Armors. Also MO2 and Vortex are still works in progress. All in all I find myself wondering, is it still too soon for me to move to SE?Are my concerns justified?Would I be better to stick with LE for now? Just to say what I want to do this time out; although I've played several hundred hours of Skyrim over the years I've never completed the main quest or any of the other main questlines.I know - what the hell was I doing? Well strangely in Skyrim I never needed anyone telling me what to do and I've always played Skyrim DID; so I've started over many times. But this time I want to do at least the main quest and maybe some others. My main aim is to build a stable game that is basically an improved vanilla game. The main improvements being QoL and gameplay. I'm less concerned about graphics.Actually I like the way vanilla SSE looks when I switch off all the special effects (TAA, DoF, GRs etc). I hate what they do to the image - muzzy and fuzzy.I like Skyrim crisp and clear like an alpine lake. Anyway I know you're not a therapist - any thoughts welcomed. Not to sound terse; however, you could search SE and LE on this forum and find this has been discussed before. It is all personal preference at this point between the two. There is an LE Guide stickied on the parent forum here and is done by Lexy's husband Darth_Mathias, as well as this SE guide here. LE is more fleshed out and has more mods but it more unstable and prone to crashes. SE is catching up to it and is almost there. SE's advantage is that it is 64 bit and more stable. Since you don't care about the graphics you can go either way, LE with more mods and less stable performance or SE with improved base graphics and not quite as many mods and a more stable experience. I would suggest that you try SE with no graphics additions other than a few armor/weapons mods and see if you like it and then work from there (say a level 20-30 character). I have a current vanilla profile I play on SE with nothing but SKSE, SSE Optimized Textures, the Unofficial Patch, SMIM, Obsidian Weather, and an ENB as well as a separate profile for this guide. Decide which you like better. Once you come to SE you won't go back. It just needs a little more time and a few mod authors to improve on the work older LE mod authors have abandoned. berndaroy Posted July 17, 2018 Posted July 17, 2018 LE is more fleshed out and has more mods but it more unstable and prone to crashesKneph13 hi! I would respectively disagree here..i understand where you are coming from in terms of x64 v x32 platforms, but i started in mid December with a new game on the LE Darth's guide, with PCE(Palaces and castles enhanced), Clockwork Castle, Darkend, Beyond reach, Wyrmstooth, ETC, Settlements Expanded, JK's Cities lite, Raven Rock Expanded plus many more added on top of the guide. Yes i had to first create my own pre-smash as it were and forward the fixes to the Cr patch mod by Lexy, plus merging for space. I determined that i would see this game though to the bitter end, before completing my SE build. At present playing in Falskaar and only have Beyond reach, Vigilant, Undeath (my lest favorite mod) and misc. odd quest from notice boards, before i have done it all. SO the big question in terms of performance....maybe 10 ctd in all this time, and that normally if i have play for a long period of time before my cpu says enough for now. x64 will be much more stable and better, but that doesn't mean that you cannot achieve a stable game on x32 and crash fixes mod is a god send for this. If, by chances, i have misunderstood what you meant, my apologies before hand. PS loved your remark on the skooma looking eyes in the closed helm.......you can imagine what Darth faced each day when Lexy was on the skooma and red bull when putting this guide together in the early part on the year..lol love Darth and Lexy, but better duck out before she brings out the stick Godescalcus hi! Yes i have seen that mod...not into the wings so much, more the super woman flying style and for someone that love eye candy, cannot beat the view of the terrain from above...ta Good modding ALL!!
AthlonAI Posted July 17, 2018 Posted July 17, 2018 I always Run LOOT automatically anytime I install an esp so it might change and I don't notice easier just to always run it. I don't always have enough time to do an update to the ModWat.ch profile on same day cos it means going through the Finishing line again and that as you know take a while. I will update as soon as I can cos I know it made a bit of cockup last time. Well that's good enough because I know it's alot of work... Is click the "LEFT SORT BUTTON", the one on the same line as the backup load order on the RIGHT SIDE of MO2 is good then ? Because I always end-up with consistency if I used the RUN button with loot selected ?
Athis Posted July 17, 2018 Posted July 17, 2018 I am not sure how to use the STEP wiki properly - I dont know how to find the various builds guides without someone actually giving me a linkIs there a list or a special section where they are all gathered?
Baubledorst Posted July 17, 2018 Posted July 17, 2018 For what it's worth, now that I've got everything cinched in nicely with the SE guide, I went for 15 hours without a single CTD, which is completely nuts to me given historical Skyrim modding experience. It's really, really well put together as a cohesive whole. I am pining hard to swap from Vivid Weather though, but I'm too deep in this playthrough to swap out weather scripts now.

Drbigt Posted July 17, 2018 Posted July 17, 2018 Suggestion for textures. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/18436 The cow is still vanilla following the guide and this improves their look immensely.

I'll risk saying that this build is stable, although not finished. The updating has come to the point that any build you finish, if up-to-date and done correctly, is a stable build that you can then play - and halt updating until you finish playing. I've played it in March/April, it was a very different build already but it held up and I had fun doing most of the quest lines without breaking until I felt the urge to come back to modding pad by level 40 or something. Issues may and do arise, but I haven't seen any game-breaking so far. The LE guide is stable and will give you a different flavour of things. I'd choose by the mod list. 1
Shadriss Posted July 17, 2018 Posted July 17, 2018 (edited) Do you happen to remember the misogynistic book series GOR with Tarl Cabot and all his slave girls? Great reading back in the day! LoLNo... looking at the picture made me think of it as 'software gore', and that made the name priceless to me. It actually quite interesting watching someone else install my guide already spot a typo that I have now fixed Which is why editors are wonderful people - they don't catch the errors when they are looking, but you sure do. This is why my college papers manage to get so many errors fixed at the last minute. I had a paper not long ago that talked about how Burger King wanted to attack children... instead of attract them. So again, other people looking at your stuff is priceless. Of course, so was the error, in this case... I am not sure how to use the STEP wiki properly - I dont know how to find the various builds guides without someone actually giving me a linkIs there a list or a special section where they are all gathered? There is a sub forum for 'Modding Guides'... it's where most of the alternative guides end up posting and living. It's toward the bottom when you are on the main page, but honestly, there's really only a few SKyrim ones anymore. WRT the guide updates - specifically, the ENB Particle update, I notice there is no longer an esp in the MEGA file download... is this intentional? Also, why all the reordering of merges? Did something change somehow? Edited July 18, 2018 by Shadriss 1
godescalcus Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 (edited) Have you guys ever used Celestine the healer? I'm asking because I used her in LE and she seemed completely OP. She would buff you with like 8 spells instantly as soon as you got into combat, then fully heal you in less that 2 seconds no matter what your health was to begin with. Quite the companion for a tanker. All you really had to do is get a few seconds out of harm's way and she'd fully heal you. She also attacked but hardly, as I recall it she mostly kept out of trouble and doing what she did best. This was before even Darth's guide and I haven't tried Toccata, I admit, because I didn't want go so dependent on one follower LOL but from the talks here it seems she might be similarly OP? I wanted to know, from those who tried both, how they compare. Of course, Celestine had seriously irritating dialogue lines borrowed from the game's unused dialogue which had nothing to do with context or relationship, but you could switch those off in the MCM. Athis Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 Good - now I know where the guides are hidden :) Watched your video godescalcus - a very different looking Skyrim than I am used toAnd all done with Wrye Bash; nice one.
godescalcus Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 Lol.. That's an old video. I should just remove it from my signature! It doesn't even have the combat system for Darth's guide and the flora is my own screw up. Probably done a month after I started playing with the guide. I did use WB for all my LE builds, but using MO2 here.
DarkladyLexy Posted July 18, 2018 Author Posted July 18, 2018 Hey guys the guide has been updated noting major but check the changlog.
