High Definition Ivy - 2K replaces the vanilla ivy texture with a higher resolution texture. The author created it since he hadn't seen any high res replacers for this texture. I checked the mods I use and I don't have a replacement for the vanilla Skyrim ivy texture in any of these mods.

The vanilla ivy, with a lot of purple on it, looks like a variegated ivy and is a different color than a lot of the ivy I've seen. The HD Ivy has more green and is more like the ivy I'm used to which is not typically variegated and even the variegated ivy I've seen doesn't typically have the the purple and dark green that the vanilla ivy has . It would be easy to reduce the size of HD ivory to 1Kx1K if we think the HD Ivy coloring is more realistic for Skyrim.

It is an improvement, but allow me to critique for a moment.  It's just a tad too dense, and perhaps a bit "flat" IMO. The Vanilla texture also has a few dead leaves instead of being solid green throughout, which is nice. Maybe it's just ivy around here (Southern California), but the leaves are quite a lot brighter and lighter green than I recall. The rather massive file size is an issue as well, I assume Vanilla/HDDLC is 512? A straight forward "enhanced" Vanilla texture at either 512 or 1024 would be nice to see, there's definitely room for improvement on the original without redoing it entirely.

Different textures (can use both). The mod you linked covers interior ruins ivy and the other is Ivy that grows outdoors on trees, etc.

Thanks for the link though... looks nice! Looks like its competition is re-defined dungeons.

Just curious what you guys think about this mod vs this mod

For some reason, I think the link that I provided looks alot better and more detailed.

Let me know your thoughts

The one example looks pretty good.  Need more screenshots :P
Alright... I just did a texture compare and I think it IS the one already included in Redefined dungeons (or so damn close I can't tell the difference...) just resized...

Anyone confirm please?

According to Photoshop they are literally identical (normal as well).  Re-defined Dungeons doesn't allow modifications without permission (of which I see none), looks like somebody's getting reported... :whistling:

EDIT: Author claims he is the author of Re-defined Dungeons (post).

Glad I wasn't going crazy! :)

I do prefer the ivy from this mod vs. the vanilla ivy. The screenshots show 4 options: HD Ivy - Vanilla Color Scheme - 1024, HD Ivy - Original Green - 1024, HD Ivy - Original Green (2048), and vanilla Ivy from Skyrim - textures (512).

The vanilla Skyrim ivy texture yields ivy leaves that are too big IMO; I prefer the smaller leaves that result when using HD Ivy. I don't see any advantage to the HD Ivy 2K texture vs. the 1K ones. Personally I like the ivy in the first image with the vanilla color scheme, although the green ivy in the 2nd screenshot is more like ivy that we see everyday.

As mentioned above' date=' these textures are identical to those in Re-Defined Dungeons, so this mod isn't needed.[/quote']

As Neovalen mentioned, the textures in Redefined Dungeons and Replacement Ivy all sizes (which are the same textures) are only for dungeons. The textures in High Definition Ivy replace outdoors ivy textures that are currently only in Skyrim - textures. No other mod that I know of replaces these textures.

Sorry for upping this again but I really agree with Kelmych for "1024 vanilla color scheme" inclusion in STEP baseline. Even if resolution is only 2x larger than the vanilla texture, in-game perception is quite improved.
