edynacio
Optimized Vanilla Textures is now available through an external link on Nexus. Is that ok to have the bsa extracted when installing them using the fomod provided by the author? EDIT: Nevermind. They shouldn't be extracted. Edited January 29, 2016 by edynacio Link to comment
minos55
how sure are you, they should not be extracted? When they are not extracted, i get an error in tesVedit when trying to make dyndolod texgen Link to comment

When they are not extracted, i get an error in tesVedit when trying to make dyndolod texgenThey should not be extracted to work as the mod author intended. I will try DynDOLOD TexGen With The BSAs Intact. If you haven't already, ensure all the BSAs are checked in the Archives tab of MO. Edit: I had no trouble with DynDOLOD TexGen using the mod BSAs intact. I've updated the guide to be more clear on the download portion. Please let me know if there are any glaring mistakes. cybexgames
Hi Neo, Considering that the author of Optimized Vanilla Textures, states that the Unofficial High Resolution Patch is included, does this still need to be installed? Also, at what position should the Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch be installed at? EDIT: Quote from the author The handful of textures from the High Res DLC that aren't included either aren't used in game or they're exactly the same as vanilla. And USLEEP should overwrite this mod. The handful of textures that it corrects won't have any significant performance impact and it's more important that the fixes be in your game. Seems that the Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch is placed after Optimized Vanilla Textures. Edited January 29, 2016 by cybexgames Link to comment

minos55
hm that's weird, cause they are all activated Link to comment
Neovalen
Look in the data tab and find where those textures come from. Maybe it will give a clue. Mine are showing Skyrim - HD02.bsa for all of those missing textures.. Make sure you have that one and have it activated. Link to comment
TirigonX
Does DynDOLOD recognize bsa files that aren't associated with an esp/esm? I think there was some kind of issue a long time ago, but I don't know if that's still the case. Link to comment

minos55
I have selected that it manages bsa files but doesn't work, if i rename the Skyrim - HD01.bsa to Skyrim - Textures.bsa. it doesn't work, but if i Leave it like it was before it goes normaly, so apperently something is wrong here. TirigonX
I can confirm this. I renamed Skyrim - HD01.bsa to Skyrim - Textures.bsa. (tony971 actually mentions this procedure in one of the stickied posts in the Nexus comments section.)Then I ran DynDOLOD TexGen and got loads of these "*.dds not found" errors. Apparantly DynDOLOD only recognizes the files in Skyrim - HD01.bsa (which is now renamed to Skyrim - Textures.bsa) but it doesn't recognize any textures that are in Skyrim - HD02.bsa. I have MO managing the bsa files. If you don't rename the file it will work, but I assume in that case DynDOLOD won't use any textures from the optimized HD packs. It will only use the original Skyrim -Textures.bsa (and of course any textures from other mods which are loaded properly) Edited January 29, 2016 by TirigonX Link to comment
tony971
Sounds like something that needs updated with DynDOLOD. Skyrim - HD01 and Skyrim - HD02 each have about half of the game's textures. If DynDOLOD isn't loading both of these archives when one of them is named Skyrim - Textures, then half of the game's textures would be missing. I just don't know why it wouldn't load both. Something to ask the author.Oh wait I know why. It's only looking at Skyrim - Textures.bsa. Since MO doesn't load the real Skyrim - Textures.bsa when one of the Skyrim - HD bsa files are named the same, it's only loading half the textures. DynDOLOD would have to be specifically updated to work with my mod if users rename their file. Link to comment

Pretendeavor
So I'm still not entirely sure why we are keeping these files as .bsa and rename Skyrim - HD01.bsa to Skyrim - Textures.bsa, tbh the whole manage-bsa's-or-not thing confuses me. As for the Texgen script not seeing these files.. It didn't work for me either initially. Then I just took a wild guess and added Skyrim - HD02.bsa to the 'sResourceArchiveList2=' line under [Archive] in Skyrim.ini. Now the script finishes properly. I'm just wondering if keeping this line in the ini will have any negative consequences? And if not, should we also be adding the other BSA's to the ini (Dragonborn - HD.bsa etc.)? Then a final thing I'm confused about.. Do we still need the Unofficial High Resolution Patch? Where should it be placed regarding USLEEP? Edited January 29, 2016 by Pretendeavor Link to comment
