Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

Recommended Posts

Hi Neo. I was wondering why you chose the current weather setup instead of Purity? I noticed you started the Purity thread on the STEP Forums

Purity didn't exist when I made the weather setup for one... two I have not tried purity myself.

I have a few questions about the end of the guide. I have seen similar  questions asked before and a few that haven't been asked. I know the questions are kind of generic and hope that I covered them all but maybe they can be added somewhere in the guide.

#1 Should we remerge all of our merged files every time Merge Plugin gets updated?

#2 Should we rerun RS Patcher every time it is updated/one of its masters are updated?

#3 Should we only update FORES when it is updated/new animation mods are added or updated?

#4 Should we only update Bashed Patch when it or one of its masters are updated/ new mod added to guide?

#5 Should SUM be updated every time an existing mod is updated or added to the guide?

#6 Should Dynolod be updated every time it is updated/or any structure or landscape mod is added

Neo,

Do you notice that dungeon/interior have more "orange" tone in Vividian 7 compare to Vividian 6? Thanks

With some firepits / torches yes, other light sources (like candles) no. The orange tone for fire light isn't bad imo, just different... I would perhaps enjoy yellowing it up slightly. Maybe I will ask Manga which setting to tweak. Its certainly better than a red tone on fires that's for sure.

1) No need unless I say something here. The last update in particular was to fix the RSChildren not copying facegen problem but if you did the workaround I had provided previously then you were already good.

2) Yes, if weathers or ENB is updated it should be run again. Actually been meaning to tweak the instructions on this a bit.

3) Yes and also when skeleton is updated, but if unsure it's always safer to run it anyways.

4) Bashed patch should be redone anytime a mod is added and/or removed. There are many types of mods this isn't required for but in general it's a good rule to follow.

5) Yes, but in honesty it only affects mods that adds / removes NPCs or affects weapons and armors with ASIS and DSR as the only two mods (as configured anyhow).

Basic answer in all this is: To be safe you do them all, for time efficiency they can be used more sparingly but you run risks.

Some questions from guide:

1. About instructions to not install certain files or folders:

Is it ok to use "hide" in MO instead of not installing, or will this have any negative effects like slower loading or something?

2. Papyrus Compiler Fix For 64-bit System

Is it possible to confirm/check that this process was completed successfully?

3.    4.4.1.2 Blocksteal Redux

I took files from optional file and just put it into main file installation, is this ok?

4.    4.4.4.2 Extensible Follower Framework

Is it ok to "merge" the replacment file with main file when installing it in MO?

5.    4.5.3.1 Project Reality - Climates Of Tamriel

Optionals: Dawnguard Patch, Dragonborn Patch. Just wonder why this is optional when many other mods need all dlc's, something wrong with this?

6.    4.5.4.3 Enhanced Lighting for ENB

The cleaning instruction

Right-click ELE_Legendary_Fs_Wt_Lite.esp>"Light" and select "Remove".

Just to be sure: First "apply filter for cleaning" and then "remove identical to master" right?

7.    4.5.5.5 Enhanced Lights and FX

This mod have many plugins, is it possible to merge all the plugins?

Same goes for this mod 4.5.5.6 Project Parallax Remastered

8. Use of * in "Do not install" and "only install"

Many places in this guide * is added after files that should not be installed or only installed.

This dont seem to be consistent to me, I can be missing something ofc.

Some examples:

Serious HD Retexture Skyrim

Special Installation: Install only the following file(s) and/or folder(s):

  • textures/dlc02/landscape/dlc2road01ash01.dds
  • textures/dlc02/landscape/volcanic_ash_darkcliff_01*.dds
  • textures/dlc02/landscape/volcanic_ash_rocks_01*.dds
  • textures/dlc02/landscape/volcanic_ash_tundra_01.dds
  • textures/dlc02/landscape/volcanic_ash_tundra_03*.dds

What is the meaning of * here?

Skyrim Realistic Texture Overhaul - Dragonborn

Special Installation: Install only the following file(s) and/or folder(s):

  • textures/dlc02/architecture/ravenrock/redoran/redoran0*.dds
  • textures/dlc02/architecture/telvannitower/telwoodendoor*.dds

Does it mean all files with same name up to the * should be installed?

Cheers

1) Yes, they do the same thing.

2) Not sure I never do it cause I have no wish or need to script.

3) If you merged them then yes.

4) Should be fine

5) No, it's telling you to install the two files from the Mod's Optional Files section. The files called Dawnguard Patch and Dragonborn Patch.

6) No. Expand the mod using the + and then follow the directions.

7) Possibly. If you do, check for errors etc after merge and test to make sure all's OK in game.

8) * is a wildcard. It's a well known computing shortcut to save typing and has been around since Adam was a boy. Like format *.* for example.

In your first example it's saying install the files that START with volcanic_ash_darkcliff_01 and have the .dds extension.

The second one is exactly what you say. Any file that starts like that and ends with a .dds should be installed.
