ENB recommendation

what ENBs would be recomended to use after a full STEP extended instal? And here I mean ENB only, not ENB that come in packages with own mods.

 

If I installed the latest enbseries (0308) can I downgrade to a previous version (if some ENBs don`t support latest embseries)?

Vividian ENB (vanilla version) is the one I typically recommend for users who what to stick close to the vanilla color palette.

 

Yes, you can downgrade. Just be sure you delete all the files between switching.

I prefer True Vision ENB.

A good starting point with ENB's is to decide what you want your game to look like, and then if you can't decide tell others what your looking for so we'll at least know where to direct you to best cater for your likes and dislikes in ENB styles.

 

But on the basis that we're sharing styles, I use one of 2 depending on my load order. If I'm not running any weather or lighting mods then I use Tetrachromatic ENB and if I'm using lighting and weather mods I use Megatherium ENB

 

But this should be about what you value in style and design as it's going to be in your game and your going to have to look at it every time you load in.

Vividian is nice. I also like/have used Bleak ENB, Unbleak ENB, Grim and Somber Jyggalag ENB and Skylight ENB. Happily recommend them all.

My favorite is currently still Natural Lighting and Atmospherics. It curcumvents compatibiliy problems because it requires no other lighting and weather mods.

The colors just look realistic like no other ENB does. But im not a fan of the color screwing modern movies tend to do too, so maybe I'm just a loner with my choice :)

I think the ssao settings could be improved though, but that is true for most ENBs as I like a 'realistic' approximation of GI, not a stylized one.

Ok, nice feedback but I am such a novice (though I modded Skyrim 3 times by now) as I really simply follow instructions and I don`t have a comprehensive understanding of how things really do work.

 

So, my STEP install is thorough following the extended line. I noted down the install proces that I have ELE lite and Relighting Skyrim with no JIT installed (whatever this means, I noted down but I can`t recall wat it is about).

 

I would like an ENB that dont require any other complementary mods to work as intended. Or if they do and you still recommend it, some guide to installing after STEP with MO (I found that on nexus guides are not acounting for MO install and so, I rather try to stay away with those).

 

I would like a balanced ENB, with not exagerated darkness in dungeons or nights or very deep, black like shadows. Natural colors, close to the intent of vanilla version (though a little more colorfull that vanilla). Happy to try some.

 

P.S. I tried Skylight and I found it extremely dark in the opening carriage stage. It is like deep night until arriving close to the gates. I also tried Tetrachromatic and contrast in shadows are so deep it is like faces of characters ar in night while rest of the scene is in day. Either something is wrong with my settings or I don`t understand how ENBs work.

Snowfall ENB with real snow covering. It's based on NLVA + vivid weathers. Very small fps impact and it is amazingly nice

OK, I tried Vividian. Looks really nice BUT... it seems that on move or turning head, I get a sensasion of something like 50hz led tv, like  image remains behind the move or something. It makes me dizzy...

Could be temporal AA. Try disabling it in your enblocal.ini and see if its better.

Also, set EnableVsync=true in enblocal.ini (near the bottom) to avoid screen tearing

Vsync improved things alot. temporal AA is disabled. only Edge AA is enabled. But that sensation is there even when I shift+f12 (disable the ENB). Could be something else wrong?

Make sure you're setting the proper values in your SkyrimPrefs.ini file.

i run this one along with true storms and a ENB called "Rudy" which is made just for it including enbhelper and tons of settings for all different weathers

Are you actually seeing the image getting 'slurred'? Or do you just have a sense of non responsiveness?

 

My second guess would be triple buffering. But that usually doesn't give you a slurred image, it is more like the mouse is kind of floaty and soft and the image is less responsive (way more noticeable if you have a very responsive display to begin with).

 

I had the feeling that enb enables it in the past but I never drilled any deeper, so I do not know.

 

How many fps do you get?
