Question

Posted

For the love of God, I cannot figure out what I am doing or what is going wrong with Mod Organizer, but I was trying to reinstall Fallout Character Overhaul cause I was having texture issues from this mod, but I am getting a strange error where MO is saying that it can't extract the meshes and texture from the fomod. I've never had this issue before, and I've tried redownloading the mod from Nexus and even reinstalling MO but I am still having the issue. if anyone has any ideas as to what is going on, it would greatly appreciated.

Okay just tried with your selections and it installs fine. Checked through your post about the missing texture and that specific one is installing fine with my copy so all I can think of is yours is broken or something else is interfering with the extraction process.

It looks like you have Steam and MO installed away from UAC folders so that's good. If you have any AV or firewall software try adding MO to their exclusion lists or disable them temporarily to see if it succeeds this time.

Aside from that I'm out of ideas. If the bulk of the install succeeds you may be able to add in the missing textures using explorer or some other file manager. The download is just a RAR file with a fomod folder inside, the files are pretty easy to find.

You mention that you are reinstalling so I'm assuming you at one stage were able to install it with MO? What has changed between now and then?

As far as settings in MO are concerned it makes no difference whether you change the FOMOD settings as this mod will ALWAYS call the external installer, it uses a C# script.

I've just now reinstalled that mod in my setup and saw no issues. If there were any major changes made in your system could you describe them, perhaps something has broken?

Keep in mind I am on a Win10 setup that is constantly updated and I am yet to see this problem.

Yes, I was able to install FCO when I did my setup following the Fear and Loathing Step Guide but after that, I've also downloaded AWOP and New Vegas Redesigned 3 and a couple other personal favorites, but I have not messed with the settings of MO. I also ran Ordenador's Optimizer Textures which crashed the first time I used it, but ran completely fine the second time. Would it be possible that it corrupted my file in some way when it crashed?

If you would like to view anything on my end, I'd be happy to post some pictures.

Clear the 'logs' folder to remove any detritus that is currently in there and then go through the steps to install FCO again. Paste the contents here either in spoiler tags or via PasteBin.com or similar.

Well the logs show nothing. Was that all there was? Seems very short, not even any mention of the installation attempt.

Oops, my log level was on the wrong setting, but even after changing it, it still looks pretty much the same showing that there was a successful install

I am also so stupid to not have realized that I haven't included the contents of the error window that appears while installing, but this is what comes up

File

Main/textures/characters/drumber/male/Ghould/Nose/4/headhuman.dd cannot be extracted.

this probably means the mod is broken though you may still get partial functionality.

please inform the mod author.

Detailed Error: Could not find file 'C:\Steam Games\steamapps\common\Fallout New Vegas\Mod Organizer\mods\Fallout Character Overhaul\Data\texture\characters\drumber\male\Ghoul\Nose\4\head human.dds'.

not sure what can be made of that and it does this with a couple other textures too

but I now feel dumb not having included this before, sorry

Can you give me the options you chose in the FOMOD dialogue? I'll see if I can replicate it on my end. I used the selections from the F&L guide.

These are my selections:

  • Animated Sweat
  • Clean teeth textures
  • Hair Texture
  • Roberts Patch
  • After School Special
  • Beyond Boulder Dome
  • The New Bison Steve Hotel and Lucky Casino

Alright, thanks for the help and I'll just try to manually install those textures and others that may be missing, thank you for your help though we weren't able to find out what was wrong.
