SRLE Extended: Legacy of The Dragonborn

Recommended Posts

Don't know if this is the right place to ask, but recently got a new computer and wanted to mod Skyrim.
I had a previous computer on which I ran S.T.E.P Extended since Skyrim Revisited was too much for it.
I wanted to know if SRLE:LotD, the largest mod guide I've seen so far, will work on my system.
The specs are:
CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1220 @ 3.1Ghz

RAM: 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti Gigabyte G1 Gaming Edition
SSD: Corsair Neutron 128GB (With Windows 10)
HDD: A Toshiba 1TB 7200rpm drive with 64MB cache
Will I be fine? I really don't want to go through the whole guide and find out the game runs horribly or doesn't run at all.

you should be ok the biggest thing you will need to be concerned about is the 4GB VRAM limit both due to your graphics card and becuaseof Windows 10.

You will most likely have to reduce some of the larger textures.

Ok. Is there any specific textures I can reduce that don't effect the visuals that much? In Oldrim I used lower textures on grass and clutter to free up VRAM.

I would reduce some of the larger objects textures like mountains and trees. Also the 3 biggest impacts on VRAM are Dyndolod, the ENB and Skyrim Flora Overhaul. You can also think about using 1K texture of LOTD itself, If you are not going to play a mage I would drop Caranthir Tower Reborn (I am still considering dropping this mod from the guide all together).

We have tried our best to keep VRAM should be under 4GB but there times and places where it will go over. Hopefully the VRAM limit imposed byWindows 10 users ill be removed soon.

So the issue users wil have concerning VRAM will those on there graphics cards and there is not much we can do about that.

I've tried fireundubh's "Generate Bash Tags.pas" script from F&L New Vegas (essarbee's guide) and ran it on the merged CACO Patches.esp . Here's the output:

{{BASH:Actors.DeathItem,Delev,Graphics,Invent,Names,Relev,Stats}}

[Apply Script done]  Processed Records: 384, Elapsed Time: 00:08

It includes all the 4 tags suggested in the guide (which are also the 4 tags suggested if you run the native xEdit script to autodetect bash tags), DELEV, INVENT, NAMES, RELEV, but also adds ACTORS.DEATHITEM, GRAPHICS, STATS.

I'm pretty ignorant of how the bash tags work, but would it be useful to accept the tags generated by the script and run it on all the other plugins before running wrye bash? The script specifically mentions it's compatibe with TES4 and TES5.

I have an install of the FNV guide and that is what SRB uses for conflict resolution in his guide, but I would not recommend it for Skyrim.  I just finished my own huge mod install and was trying to figure out how to get WB to do what I wanted it to, and wound up giving the 'generate bash tags' script a shot.  I found it reverting changes that I had made in my CR.

I think very likely that is at least in some part due to user error (perhaps LO stuff, or it may be necessary to remove certain tags from certain mods), but I really did spend quite a while experimenting with WB, LO, Tags and so on and checking the results.  I think you'd need a really good understanding of WB and Tags in order to not mess up the CR patch with that script.

Hello !

I'm currently doing the guide step by step for the first time, and i just got to the

[VIGILANT Voiced - English Addon]

In the "files to download" section, it's noted

UPDATES - VIGILANT Voiced - Updated translated ESP

but i don't find this file on the mod page.

Do i skip it or is there another file to download ?

Thanks for your work !

That is one of the mods that needs updating in our guide when we get to it so download the main file 1.3 and the Optional file VIGILANT Voiced - English Addon (Uncompressed)

Oh ok i see.
I suggest that you clarify this in the guide when you can, as i strictly follow it one section by one ;)

Thanks again, everything seem to work well for now, can't wait to finish it and give you feedbacks :)

Edit: i just understood that you were talking about the "updating/editing" of the guide itself, sorry english is not my first language

i know unfortunately can not do it as my PC is still out of action thus I can't check for conflcits or errors so for the time being I will leave guide updates to my partner in crime Nozzer.

Was it here or elsewhere I read that the fall update for windows 10 that is supposedly fixing the 4gb texture thing will possibly break mod organizer? I just read a post from a guy that is part of the windows insider program, and he claims that he has the update and is running fully modded Skyrim through mod organizer and having no problems. I was wondering if he is telling a tall tale? I am hoping that the LOTD guide will be updated by the time the windows update hits so I can start a new playthrough without having to install windows 7.
