Nozzer66 Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 pt1f4b: For obvious reasons I'm not going to quote all of that magnum opus of yours. The forum may collapse if I use up that much CGI space again. The typo fixes are trivial and wont be an issue. I wasn't even aware someone had added the College of Winterhold fix part after ELFX. Whoever did that and didn't mention it will be getting a 'please explain' tap on the shoulder. Anyway it's fixed now. I'll have a look at some of the ones about fomod options, but I'm almost certain the one for Volendrung is missed out deliberately cause Volendrung is improved in the content addon part of aMidianborn. With all the special installation versus after installation ones, I'd have to look but I'm certain some are done after installation cause they're packed in a BSA otherwise, and can only be done after installation. My personal opinion on the Mod Notes is this: Ideally, I'd like to get rid of ALL of them and encourage modders to read the actual mod pages before rushing off to the files page, seeing what they do and being informed fully before clicking the install button. Most of what's in there is cause they were there in the Base SRLE guide. Essentially I'd like things to not be quite so wordy really. However, this is probably pie in the sky, too. People are more likely to rush and want to get things done quickly. This is understandable, of course. I'd actually be interested to find out who actually read them when installing anyway... I mean aside from yourself it seems. The one I'm unsure about is the 'tedious' comment about running the game to test it. Not quite sure what's tedious about it. Are you implying that it's tedious to unclick anything that has an uninstalled dependency to run the game after each section or am I way off base? Unfortunately, there's no real other way to go about it... And the Mod Installation part could probably be removed anyway. That is explained in the Prequisites page in any case.
Nebulous112 Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 I noticed both "Better Males" and "UNP Blessed Body - UNPB Redux Project" is tagged as Optional and HQ. Shouldn't they be core? Whether you go with option 1 or 2, you need both. Also, mods in other sections of the guide marked as "Core" expect a UNPB body. I changed these two mods in the wiki to be "Core" instead, but I can change it back if you want. As this is more than a little typo fix, I thought I would double check with you.
Nozzer66 Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 (edited) They're actually both files that should only get installed if you're using Option 2 of NPC retex. Option 1 it's all handled by Windsong's. So yes, technically they're optional. Edited March 23, 2017 by Nozzer66
Nebulous112 Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 But for Windsong it says to download the "WSCO Occidental UNP and BetterMale Body v1". Doesn't that imply that UNP and Better Males is required? Edit: Nevermind, I see that it includes the needed files itself. I'll change it back to the way it was on the wiki. Thanks, Nozzer! Edit 2: Aaaaaand...reverted back to the way it was.
NordPride_WorldWide Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 (edited) Hey guys and gals, run into something i've never had before, but when i try and sort masters in xedit i get an error message "string list does not allow duplicates". Gone though the list of mods x20 times cannot find any problems..at lest that i can see...all merged esps moved into options folder as instructed. Unchecked all merges rerun xedit, same result. Checked in Wyre bash mods that are not green and tested them...checked for errors on all merges, cleaned them etc but still same result. As mentioned in all previous builds NEVER ENCOUNTERED this before. Does the brain trust have any ideas or pointers on what to do..OR is it back to the drawing board. Thank you in advancedThis means one of your mods esp's has another mod listed as a master twice or more in its header. Delete one of the entries. Found this out the hard way when trying to incorporate ectv, when I attempted to merge all of arthmoors cities together and lazily rename other files masters. DarkladyLexy Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 (edited) I wasn't even aware someone had added the College of Winterhold fix part after ELFX. Whoever did that and didn't mention it will be getting a 'please explain' tap on the shoulder. Anyway it's fixed now. that was probably me or Darth for those who have come from SRLE Base thus already had ELFX Installed. I also agree with Nozzer that the guide is getting very wordy and yes modders really should be reading the Mod pages but we all know we don't always do that plus some of the mod authors descriptions aren't very clear. Personally i haven't read half the stuff that is in the guide but then again I am an experienced modder and I know what I am doing. Edited March 23, 2017 by DarkladyLexy
Nozzer66 Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 It's fine :) I wasn't serious and it's all fine now. All of those changes that have been mentioned will get done in the next 24 hours. There'll be two new fix mods added over the weekend. Then I'll get serious into mod testing.
johanlh Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 (edited) Hey guys, I uploaded a littel gameplay of my current run. Everything is runing smooth so far and zero crashes in game. I have to say that this is my first serious run of skyrim, I never played the game after past the first dragon, so eveything is new and awesome for me :) I would like to know what is the recommended difficulty for this setup with all the mods it has, wildcats, AEE, deleveled loot, etc. Last time I tried the SRLE base, the first dragon was too difficult for me, so I had to tweak the difficulty in the Deadly Dragons to Vanilla and also use the Legendary plugin of Wildcat to make the damage 4X/4X. That was the only way I was able to beat it. But don't get me wrong, I enjoy difficulty (I am a veteran of souls series and Bloodborne), it just I don't want to get to the point that it will be imposible. Thanks in advance. P.S. Excuse the quality of the video, I am still learning how uploading from a PC to youtube works (it used to be super easy for me from the ps4 :D) Edited March 23, 2017 by johanlh

JUNKdeLUXE Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 I just reached the [Northfire's Photoreal Mountains] step in the guide and to my horror I see that apparently I'm not supposed to merge (MO merge) mods with patches etc. but instead install them all under individual folders :S (normal modding procedure is merging - at least that's what they advice in STEP:CORE). Do I have to redo my entire install? and if so, maybe have a word or 2 at the start of the guide telling you to not merge (or install on top of if that makes it easier to understand) patches and updates with the original mod.
Alkira Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 I would like to know what is the recommended difficulty for this setup with all the mods it has, wildcats, AEE, deleveled loot, etc. That is a complicated question that depends mostly on your playstyle actually. Adept difficulty would be recommended for occasional players. As soon as you get more confident about the world of skyrim and its leaving creatures wandering around you can move up to Expert or even Master difficulty for all the original quests (winterhold/thieves/ assassins/companions).But added quests like Undeath will be deadly for you at the moment after having watched your playstyle in your posted videos ;-). I would suggest you specialize in a playstyle first (warrior, archer, spellsword or mage) and deviate from that later in the game if you want. That way you will be able to rely to that playstyle anytime you feel a quest being too difficult to handle with the enemies growing very powerfull/resistant.The guide makes the enemies very powerful at higher level (between 30 and 40, being my current level) and not to be taken too lightly. Also keep in mind from the 40th level it becomes quite long to gain level up so will have to make a choice of which attribute you want to improve (Health, Stamina or Magicka) early in your playthrough (you will have other ways to get Perks I won't spoil). Hope it helps a bit PS: great videos you've posted. Alkira.

Once you know what mod needs its patch to be installed separately reinstall the way the guide recommends to do it. Alkira.

DarkladyLexy Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 (edited) hi all. I just cant get green in this instruction for CWIELnFXPatch.esp, my FORMID is 0503D42F, when i change it for 041670C3 it stay gray. Need help here please. it actually needs to correspond to the same form ID as ELFX of the same name (can remember what that is thou). the Form ID maybe different as it depends of the location of ELFX in the Load Order. basically It need to be same Form ID as ELFX's CELL \ Block 4\ Sub-Block 5 \ 000CAB92 \ Temporary\ XX03D42F . so your Form id of would likely be something like 051670C3. Do I have to redo my entire install? and if so, maybe have a word or 2 at the start of the guide telling you to not merge (or install on top of if that makes it easier to understand) patches and updates with the original mod.A good guidance about if you should merge (MO option) or not a mod, it is to keep an eye in Darth_Mathias mod list here, you can check his plugin order too, but in the modlist section you can see how he did his setup for the build. So if you see a mod is not listed there, then he deactivated it after a plugin merged procedure or he integrated the mod into the main. As far as I see, you only should merge (MO option) a mod into another if it's a HOTFIX or an UPDATE, the patchs sometimes are merged, sometimes no. I also would have liked the guide to be more explicit about this aspect, it would have saved me a lot or rework and thinking :D Here is an example: [imperious - Races of Skyrim]CORE Imperious - Races of Skyrim - 7.18 - by Enai SiaionFiles to download :MAIN FILES - Imperious v718OPTIONAL FILES - Imperious - Disparity Compatibility Patch 130.Imperious - Races of Skyrim.espesp131.Imperious - Disparity Compatibility Patch.esp after having watched your playstyle in your posted videos ;-). LOL, I know I am stll very clunky in the combat XD, in one of the fights with a Troll, I was hitting him with my bare fist until I realized it and then I equiped the sword (luckily I have Sofia at my side). Thanks for your tips
