Question

Hi, I'm new to modding and to this forum. I'm trying to find a good Mod Manager/ Organizer to install, uninstall, sort load order, and organize. I'm currently using NMM and LOOT, but I'm looking for something that works better than NMM. Mod Organizer seems to be a great program. Does it support Fallout 4? If not, can anyone suggest another program to use? My PC is running Windows 10. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!!

Mod Organizer 2 is currently in beta testing with Fallout 4 support, although you should use Mod Organizer 1.3.11 for the 32-bit games (Skyrim and Fallout).

I'm curious, how stable is it right now? I know when I looked into it, it was in Alpha and was problematic (which is to be expected of course).

You should take a look at Issues · TanninOne/modorganizer and decide for yourself. That being said, for me it is stable enough and if development stopped I would still use it in its current state.

You should be willing to participate in the research and reporting of bugs on the issue tracker. Most of the problems look to be user / system specific. There are some problems that I can reproduce and some I can't.

Right now the local saves, profiles use the files in my games. MO will crash if the user moves a file and an executable is run right after that move. If you rename an already installed mod it will deactivate and move to the highest priority.

Looking at the current issues isn't the same as hearing from someone using it, as I don't know how often I'll see them, like you said some you can and some you can't reproduce. As far as why I wasn't participating, the main reason is that when I was going to give it a true was right around that patch that changed the format of mods in the .ini (1.4 I think?) NMM was quicker to get theres updated, and I didn't want to have to go into the ini and manually edit stuff. I'm not blaming TanninOne at all mind you, it was just a matter of deciding to wait. That and, hearing from you about how you would use it in it's current state even if it stopped makes me more eager to jump in. I love MO, and it made me so sad when I couldn't immediately use it in FO4, because it had so many great things. Like remember when MO came out with profiles and it took some time for NMM to implement it? In any event, I might do it, but I'm on a kick right to revisit Skyrim but otherwise I would. But yeah, once the patches slow down, I'll get back in and start off with MO next time.

In any case, what do you mean by "local saves, profiles use the files in my games"?

Each profile in MO should use its own XX.ini files and there is an option in the management section to make the saves for that profile only and they will not show up in another profile. Currently the game still writes the saves to the My Games folder and not the profile folder when it is enabled.

This allows you to have different characters with different mod and saves going on at the same time.
