Immersive Content - Realistic Outdoor Lights by Necrocytosis

 

This mod overhauls outdoor lighting* and would replace ELFX Exteriors & Lanterns of Skyrim in a load order. FOMOD installer offers many compatibility choices, including ELE, interior lighting mods, Point the Way and others. DynDOLOD patches (available separately) includes a patch for compatibility.

 

TL;DR

Exterior lighting overhaul with scripted day/night lanterns/etc. configurable through MCM.

Are those lights for winterhold that I see in the user images exchangable for normal lanterns?

This could possibly be a good candidate to replace "Lanterns of Skyrim" in step extended.

There are patches available for DynDOLOD so it integrates well.

 

It is also very refreshing and immersive to see a variety of different styles of lanterns throughout skyrim rather than the same model of lantern everywhere.

 

Not to mention, it is realistic that the lanterns and braziers are not lit during the day.

Haven't looked at it yet beyond what's in this thread (have been busy moving across the country...) but I feel compelled to point out that there is a patch for Lanterns as well... so that by itself doesn't make it stand above the other. That said, the different styles of lantern do sound promising...
