SKYRIMLE [ LIGHTING FIX ] Relighting Skyrim - Dawnguard Edition by --JawZ--
MontyMM replied to z929669's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
While I like what I'm seeing here, I just haven't had time to actually play the game very extensively, and I think that a lighting overhaul needs that sort of experience. It would be silly of me to call for its immediate inclusion, though if others can testify, it could well be ready. -
Sounds good. The mossy details on cliff faces around Falkreath are one of the things I like most about v1. I think it's inarguably realistic in those areas, too.
-
I like to hope that eventually a smart generation that understands the implications will make it a political issue.
-
There's some big money behind some of these wacky groups and their chauvinistic dogma, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them targeting young people on gaming sites. The Nexus should not be complicit. I've got no problem with people being morally opposed to abortion - it's a very thorny debate - but blasting me with fundamentalist dogma while I'm browsing fantasy video games will get you turned off quick!
-
These videos don't do much for me - I never find it very funny listening to people laughing at themselves while they ramble on. Based on these comments, I had a quick look at the Nexus 'adult' section, and this stuff is already beyond parody. Even the titles: Craftable Panties, Summon Succubus Twins, Animated Prostitution - oh boy! I must admit that the 'user gallery' for that last one made me ROFL. "I used to be an adventurer like you - then I got caught doing that."
-
I think that's a good idea. Being serious, I actually doubt that this is being served up as a result of google profiling, and is more likely just the result of one well-paying sponsor accepted by the Nexus. If that's true then they need to be warned, otherwise they deserve to have their ads blocked, IMO.
-
You have got to be fricking kidding me! I've turned off my adblocker for the Nexus too, at Dark0ne's request, and I'd better not be seeing that sort of thing. Actually, I did get a pretty sleazy looking advert essentially asking if I'd like to associate with any lonely supermodels in their underwear, in my area. There may indeed be some barrel scraping going on. Luckily, my browser is usually armed to the teeth, and google knows very little about my habits , so I'm hoping that mild sleaze is just their default opening gambit.
-
IMO, it's a case of something lost/something gained. The original looked amazing in most scenes, but with the stretching and a bit too much greenery in others. I think with the new version, though it loses something in some comparisons, is a better choice, as it never looks less than good.

Thinking about it, in my ideal world (and i'm not suggesting that the author rushes out and does a ton more work) this would form part of a larger overhaul of the whole alchemy system. I would love to have an overhaul that goes right back to the drawing board on the recipes, amounts, levelling, and a more sensible scheme tying the nature of potions to the difficulty of acquiring the requisite ingredients. Just my wishlist on this subject.
-
I would go along with this idea of an increased harvest coupled with a balanced increase in alchemy requirements. Although it could be argued to be a pointless quid pro quo increasing the mod load, I do find the amounts involved in ingredients to be strikingly odd, enough to draw attention to the "game" for a moment. I would use this if so balanced.

The man's unstoppable - he may have to be physically restrained from modding. Lighter version is also now up, and I'd recommend checking it out.

ACCEPTED Dead Body Collision Fix (by LargeStyle)
MontyMM replied to rootsrat's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I haven't had much time to actually play recently, but I did have a quick look at this, and I like the effect. As I think someone else mentioned, it seems to play nicely with the Realistic Forces mod, and makes things feel more kinetic and tangible. I'd be inclined to include it and tolerate the dead dragon dangers for now. -
SKYRIMLE [ LIGHTING FIX ] Relighting Skyrim - Dawnguard Edition by --JawZ--

I think the fires and candles in your latest shots are looking good. Sure, there'll be a range of subjective disagreement over exact colour temperatures, but it looks perfectly sane. The vanilla fires I'm talking about look like someone has made the error of throwing on a bar of magnesium, rather than a log. I'll try to take some screenshots later, to highlight some of the offenders. -
Perhaps I missed further discussions somewhere in my absence, but I've been running around with this enabled for the last few weeks, and I think it's excellent. Seems like a clear STEP candidate to me - so much so that I wonder if it's been examined already and found problematic in some way?

I must say, I really like what you're doing here. We're very fortunate to have such good options for lighting under intense development - and particularly having RS as an enhancement of vanilla, and RLO as a more hardcore realism option. The one thing I would personally like to see changed from vanilla is the whiteness of hearth fires. Many types of fires look OK to my eyes, but hearths tend to have an intense whiteness that I would descibe as simply broken. I would love to see those modified in RS. -
ACCEPTED Deadly Spell Impacts (by isoku)
MontyMM replied to stoppingby4now's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Our member zone22 highlighted crashes that seem related to this mod. The lastest version is cleaned and thought to resolve the problems, but the author also notes that users experiencing crashes should try lower resolution versions. -
Thanks - that's good to know. I see that he has cleaned the ESP and thinks the problem is fixed in the latest update, but it's worth knowing that this mod is one to look at if users are having trouble. I'll add a note to the mod thread.

Hello. I'm new and I really do need some guidance
MontyMM replied to Kontankarite's question in General Skyrim LE Support
You have perfectly good hardware, and I would be very reluctant to suggest spending money on upgrades. Your 8gb of system ram is ample - that won't be the issue. It is possible to breach the 2GB VRAM barrier with a really heavy mod load, but not usually by very much. I think it highly unlikely that you'll hit 3GB in the near future. If you were in the market for a new card anyway, a card with more than 2GB might be justified. But with the perfectly good card that you have, even if VRAM is the issue, try what Rootsrat has suggested and use some 1K textures. You can certainly achieve a great looking STEP setup on 2GB. -
@Besidilo Thank you. Sounds good to me. Â
-
@Besidilo That's all fine, and I leave it to the independent minds of the community to decide for themselves on the technical matters. There's just two points: - Long and detailed rebuttals like the one you just made are very welcome, but comments denouncing other members views as ludicrous, uninformed, BS, etc, are not. - Your conviction that the opposing views of others are misinformed and misleading, and that this is something you must crusade against - this is the problem. You should oppose anything with which you disagree, with evidence and argument - but not exasperation and derogatory terms; disagreeing with you does not always coincide with incorrectness. Just keep it good-humoured and positive, and I hope you stick around.
-
@Besidilo If you are going to call other people's opinions "BS", I think the onus is on you to provide proof, and you have proven nothing. I am very much in favour of free speech and rigorous debate on these forums, but just as you are sick of our "BS", I am also getting very tired of you behaving as an authority and dismissing others' views as ********, and implying or outright stating that they are clueless for failing to abide by your teachings. Please continue your arguments, but reconsider your attitude. Â
-
4GB is not a waste of money if you intend to max everything out, as I do, and the OP wishes to. Showing average FPS rates would obviously not illustrate the benefits of extra VRAM to framerate stability, and in that example the cards have different clock speeds, as well as differing VRAM, making the comparison uninformative in any case.
-
Well, I can't say it's definitively the way to go, but it certainly does a good job for me. I came from a setup very similar to yours, using 2x 280s in SLI, and the improvement is like night and day. The other consideration is that the next wave of GPUs shouldn't be too far away, so if you're not in a hurry, it could be worth holding on for a couple of months.
-
I use an Nvidia 670 4GB, which should definitely come in under that budget. I'm currently using all the ultra textures unoptimized, at 1080x1920, and my game stays smooth and well over 60FPS. With the tougher ENBs the FPS come down a bit, but never much lower than 40FPS. I should also mention that my i5 3570k is overclocked to 4.3GHz, on an air cooler.

Problem with Using BCF files
MontyMM replied to DoYouEvenModBro's question in General Skyrim LE Support
You posted here, and then a while later posted the exact same question to the Advice and Spoilers forum, with a different subject name. Please don't do that. It's called cross-posting, and there are obvious reasons why this is not allowed.
