"accident waiting to happen" ... We humans are severely limited in our ability to think beyond 3 months much less 300 years. My statement stands unequivocally true, and it is only a matter of time until we have a nuclear disaster (probably hundreds within a single century at some future point, since they were all built in roughly the same blink in time). Throw in the maintenance requirements to keep them all running in the 'black', and you have a giant @^#$ sandwich waiting for all of us or our progeny to bite into. Granted, this maintenance is relatively low, but absolutely required nonetheless. Throw in the large half life of uranium, and you also have waste to deal with (jettisoning beyond Earth's gravity is the only 'safe' place), which remains an "accident waiting to happen" as long as it remains on our ever-changing and geologically active Earth. The next 100 years will likely see at least several more major nuclear disasters. The next 1000 years will almost certainly bring with it several Earth-changing nuclear events ... that is if the human race can manage to get through major shortages of oil and drinking water ... and climate change. Just as the concept of continuous increases in capital gains for major corporations is absolutely untenable, so is the fallacy of thinking that nuclear energy is indefinitely harmless ;) Stopping nuclear energy dev is a complete no-brainer.

I like most music (exceptions: contemporary country & hip-hop) and appreciate contrast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEC8nqT6Rrk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_7TMeDTX_U

PC gaming energy is mostly consumed by GPU and fans, I think. CPU uses power, but I think it is relatively efficient (unless you are working at increasing Pi resolution all the time, which is not PC gaming). Hydro is great and pretty dependable, but it (usually) requires damning and reservoirs, which are not so good. Solar and wind require a ton of space (and habitat allocation). Nuclear is literally an accident waiting to happen. Geothermal is the way to go if we can ever harness effectively. Same with solar if we can transmit via EM from low orbit.

yes, the collar bone extends (and bends) into the shoulder tissue ... posture also looks poor, due to sagging shoulders ... that poor woman. Not seen the rest though, so not passing judgement (I'm sure all other changes look great ;) )

I do same and have same XP (except I use DriveImageXML & Runtime Live CD for imaging/restoratoring). I am not sure if they are still using the 800 number service, but it was always a PITA to enter in all those digits and wait for the read back of the crazy-long code.

YouTube ads have returned with a vengeance for me
z929669 replied to GrantSP's topic in Step Banter Inn
Before neo's post, I was going to mention that Chrome is Google just like YouTube is Google, so they will want to force their ads onto users whenever possible, and doing so in the browser itself is effectively a selective ad-blocker blocker. This is another reason why I stay away from Chrome and generally all solutions that are made by a single proprietor (MS, Google). They market 'convenience' but for them more than for users. -
WaterFox is awesome. Coexists with FireFox without issue, and there is no apparent difference between the two (other than maybe performance).

These are the kinds of specifics needed. I took a look and made several corrections to the instructions on that page. Please take a look and see if the tweaked instructions make things a bit more clear. @Tech & staff The TES5Edit instructions were a good example of inconsistent use of text formatting and phraseology that exists across the wiki (note the use of templates and where applied ... take a look at the diff between my edit and the last previous edit). Inconsistency hampers understanding, because there is no solid frame of reference for the reader. It was reasonably understandable before, but it is more clear now I think. Examples: Anything that the user should "click/tick" via the UI should always use the Ui templateReference to UI elements that do not need user interaction should be highlighted appropriately using either the appropriate text color from Fc template or using quotes.Pick a term and stick with it (everywhere): folder = directory ... "directory" is probably most often used, so let's use that unless we are talking about where we are keeping our paperwork in RL.Favor brevity over explanation unless something is really tough to describe (and then break it down into simple, clarifying statements, even if it seems like a lot of explanation ... yes, this is somewhat contradictory, so use your good judgement).

Sounds like a winner to me ...

Nice work guys, will keep this in mind

Does WaterFox use FF sync or independent? Wonder if that works, because bookmark sync is a must for me.
-
Same for me ... there is a VB script to get your Win activation key. I initially upgraded, found my new key using the script, then clean installed using that new key. It did not take, so proceeded without entering a key, and Win 10 was activated even without the key after clean install. Now what if I were to buy a new computer or replace hardware in my existing box?? ... probably run into probs.

Welcome all. I haven't finished Skyrim either ... not past lv 56 ... started a thousand chars though. Never even fought Akatosh

Yes, it does. It has at least 2 services running in the background and 2 scheduled tasks for updates. When you open Chrome, it triggers 10 processes! This is reduced to 3 processes after about 30 seconds ... that is without invoking any new tabs. I don't like any of this behavior, so that's why I stopped using Chrome in favor of FF standard version (installed/updated using Ninite). Sync works great with standard FF. Pale Moon sync was not working correctly a while back, so that's why I stopped using it as well. FF also has the best support for wev dev right out of the box. Many great plugins also enhance web dev (e.g., Rainbow, Greasemonkey, Stylish).

Those are "vines" on the wall. If the missing texture overlays appear when you are standing close up, it is not DynDOLOD. My guess is that there is a plugin conflict. Could be a texture overlay from the USP that is not being forwarded into some of your other plugins. I have not seen it in STEP. Are you using a Bashed Patch?

Salute. We try to maintain a modicum of civility around here ;)

Mods that S.T.E.P. has that SR:LE doesn't

Neo has alternatives to many mods in STEP, or there are conflicts with some STEP mods, or he just does not want to use them. The guides are independent.- 3 replies

@Shezrie No problem. If you PM me on the Nexus (to prove you are the author of any Nexus mods), then I will add you to our mod Authors group here, which will be handy if you ever decide to visit again in the future.

Blaming the forum is like blaming the messenger who brings bad news. Sorry you feel that way. Life is full of critics that may or may not have the right to critique, so you just have to roll with it, IMO. EDIT: ... and yes, it is quite dilligent of you to revive this old thread!

did you try safe mode? (see post above)
-
I am not having this issue with FF, but I also rarely have more than a few tabs open at a time. Currently, I am using 5 tabs and FF process is consuming about 316 MB of memory. Have not noticed any trends either. My guess is that you may have a problem with a third-party tool/app (or other setting). Try loading FF in safe mode to see if it goes away.

Yes, classic Octo comment ... harmless unless you read too much into it. Tisk, tisk, Octo ...

I think he means that the name and the cat's appearance have that anime thing going. Not 'racist' but demonstrative of stereotyping and prejudice ... which we all have BTW ;) I just listened to an NPR segment on this a few days ago, so I am now an expert.

High end pc with low fps.
z929669 replied to Swedge's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports (retired)
You are correct, it is possible to get those frames if you lower some key settings ... but, alas, not with all settings maxed. It is also arguably possible that you will still get some dips with SR:LE (or even STEP) ... try that location on the ridge outside of Solitude. I would much rather give up frame rate (30+ anyway) than give up shadows and certain other graphical tweaks, but for me, performance/quality trade-offs always favor quality. You must be more concerned with performance (wich may be quality to some extent if your brain can actually tell any major difference between 35-45 and 60 :P). To each his own ... -
No telling, but I would assume that whatever you are doing will cause some conflicts. You may notice nothing ever, but after hours of play, you may notice a real problem. impossible for us to say or to support I'm afraid ... that's why we created the guide and tested our mod lineup. You are in your own territory with that setup ;)
