  1. If Mator wants to support these tools here in like fashion, then fine by me.
  2. Enhanced editors like Notepad++, TextPad and UltraEdit do not lock files when they are opened for edit, nor do they revert files that are open for edit. These tools simply notify the user when the opened file has been modified, and they provide an option to update to current version, so these apps can safely be used during game operation without any worries that they are locking or otherwise interfering with normal operations on the file in question. It could be MO doing the edits, and this seems likely; however, it also seems possible that MO interaction with one or more particular mods could be the culprit. I would want to verify with default profile (no mods) if that has not been done already (think someone posted they tried this with same result). I would also recommend affected users install a different version of MO to a different directory after complete removal of affected version (including any reg entries; back up current MO directory!) ... could it be .Net interaction? Maybe uninstall/reinstall that if still no results.
  3. Ahh, yes. There are certain 'finalization' procedures one must go through to tie up an 'unfinished' build (e.g., FNIS, LOOT, Bashed Patch, STEP Patches [n/a]), so I suppose these instructions should be added to benchmark point instructions. We can probably just point to relevant parts of the existing guide but will need to perform the install/benchmarking ourselves to catch all possible issues.
  4. Not sure how benchmark points could cause problems What do you mean exactly? You might have had a Windows permissions issue from Program Files location. This is why we have instructions specifying that Steam install should be outside of this location (or change Win permissions for the relevant directory trees). Regardless, our setup instructions guide the user past these pain points if followed (but we don't necessarily address troubleshooting when instructions are not followed explicitly regarding install locations). As to the rest of the issues, there are a lot of problems that can be encountered by existing registry entries for install locations when moving things around and changing install locations.
  5. Yeah, I usually skip all of the troubleshooting when the install is really big and start again from scratch. Note the benchmark points in the guide: you should pause all modding at those points, tie up any loose ends and confirm a working config at each of those points so that you can catch any issues before they become confounded by a large build. Also, keep in mind that save games can cause issues in and of themselves, so always save/reload fresh to confirma working config. If you do need to use an existing character, then you want to perform a 'clean' save using the desired savegame and use that and other saves derived directly from the resulting clean save. I think this procedure is still relevant.
  6. Disable all mods in MO left pane and verify you can start/load/save in all situations described (alternatively, try loading with the MO default profile (vanilla Skyrim). This ensures default INIs are used as well). Begin reenabling mods in MO left pane in blocks of, say, 10 (or by STEP sections) and continue verification process. Note that you will need to recreate your Bashed Patch and re-sort with LOOT each time before each startup. Also note LOOT notes and fix any issues with dependencies during this process. Also, note that some mods in left pane are required or should not need to be verified (i.e., DLC, Skyrim Unofficial Patches). Also, disable any ENB, etc. during this testing to exclude any issues related to that. There are lots of things that can cause your issues, so we need to verify base game and work up to point of issue.
  7. Posts moved to pack topic ... PLEASE search the forums before randomly creating redundant topics. We have a pack topic for the mod in question, and this belongs there.
  8. Sort with LOOT, add STEP patch at end, and then look on the pack description page to see if a plugin order is specified (or on nexus description page(s)). If so, then be certain that your plugin order for those modular mods are consistent in your LOOT order. It may or may not matter too much how they are ordered in relation to one another or many of the mods already in STEP, including the STEP patch. When you deviate from any guide, you need to be prepared to resolve dependencies and troubleshoot. Otherwise, just follow the guides.
  9. If you want to focus on playing rather than modding too much, use STEP:Core. This will be vanilla Skyrim with fixes and a significant GFX update all around. For enhanced gameplay, use STEP:Extended, which is Core with some added stuff. SR:LE is a great choice, too, but you will find yourself tweaking much more in following that build. It is a more complex build with more decisions and tweaks required. SR:LE is analogous to STEP:Extended:Extended, essentially. All of these options are 'safe', comprehensive, well-guided builds.
  10. Contributions welcome You can thank GamerPoets for most of the videos (as i am sure you know). he approached us a while back and offered up his services. We are lucky to have him :cyclops:
  11. Welcome, pixilated1. Glad you found us ;)
  12. Glad this thread is useful. Could you point to the posts in here that were most useful? I will compile and post as the best 'answer'
  13. We have recently had three topics created dealing with this issue. I have merged the three and would ask that people search before creating new and redundant topics. thanks @ Avarium Please read through this thread ;)
  14. Interesting ... Just to be clear, we are talking about install order and asset prioritization rather than plugin order here. MO will obey LOOT plugin-order rules (which also defines asset priorities within respective BSAs, since BSAs are linked to parent-plugin order). Most files amongst the DLC do not conflict, but it is possible that the USP team discovered issues with certain DB DLC records that are not present in those (relatively) few that do conflict with the others. Regardless, plugins (and plugin-related assets) will be prioritized by LOOT defs, while assets will be prioritized according to MO left pane. DoubleYou and Tech should be able to confirm though, as I have been away from modding for awhile now, and my memory about these details is fuzzy and outdated ;)
  15. Fair enough. Whatever works ... I have not ever used a monitor with a refresh rate above 75 Hz; although, I don't see how that precludes the use of vsync. At these higher refresh rates (e.g., 120 Hz), vsync won't cut FPS below 60 FPS on a decent system. It would be nice if one of our staff has such a monitor so that we can test this theory.
  16. Vsyc will cause the FPS to drop to around 40-50 FPS (with tri-buffering capability, which modern cards have). This is normal and expected. you will see 60 FPS with vsync only when frames are delivered at or above the same rate as your monitor refresh rate (60 Hz). If slower, then you will get approx 2/3 (of monitor refresh rate) frames (with tri-buffering) or even down to 1/2 in particularly demanding areas. This is all normal and I do not advise turning off vsync (as I have said endlessly). vsync ensures smooth GFX operation and optimal experience. Any FPS above 30 is totally fine and playable and beats the glitching you will notice without vsync, particularly in interiors. Avoid FPS limiters of any kind and use vsync ... that's why we have instructed that it be enabled ;)
  17. Placing this into the support forums so that it can be found more easily ... updating OP
  18. Sounds like he would be using Publisher or other software that has templates or accommodates custom templates for application to various media formats. The trick is incorporating the mandated elements and then the typography variants that make it work intelligibly for each format. Now I see the issue. You need someone that not only knows typography basics, but actually publishes branded docs across various media formats and knows the technical tricks in doing so ... someone with XP. Seems more like a technical project (in learning to use publishing software and specialized printing formats) and less like traditional typography per se. (I am not your guy, obviously). Applied Typography (401) sounds more like what the course should be named :/ .... you could pay for local professional services and limit your work to the general design (with assistance/advice of the service personnel).
  19. I would be more suspicious of certain ENB versions. You might try the latest build for Skyrim or some previous version a few iterations back to be sure. FPS should max at 60, and I use FRAPS historically with no issues.
  20. I changed the 'hello' feature, as mentioned in the link you posted (although I am not sure even what it is or where to find it .... thus, I do not need it). Question: changing under Waterfox (about:config) is same as changing under FF right? What about sync ... will this change sync to my other FF/WF browsers throughout the world, or must I configure each?
  21. I have half a lifetime of amateur XP in typography, but I can't fathom why this class would be that hard in terms of typography per se ... my guess is that coming up with content is the real challenge? Can you explain what the tricky points are so that I can better understand what the issue is? PM me if you want to discuss privately.
  22. Not sure why we are seeing FPS > 60 if ENBoost is 1) active, 2) working, and 3) ENBoost vsync is enabled. My guess is that one of these 3 possibilities is not true. You should be able to confirm 1 and 3, but 2 depends on the version of ENB you are running, so you might want to experiment with other versions. Post in the ENBoost forums so that someone current with ENB troubleshooting can assist you in determining if ENBoost is running and how to toggle vsync on/off with a KB shortcut if possible. Be certain iPresentInterval is set to '1' in your skyrim.ini. ... I have been away from ENB testing for awhile, and am not up on current dev.
  23. No. ENBoost is required to get vsync ... never run without it. You should not see FPS above your monitor refresh rate (probably 60 Hz or 60 FPS) with vsync enabled (you are showing max = 63). You should also see less variation in FPS, and it should smooth the graphics if there is any stuttering. You will need to run again to get the right numbers and experience (and comparing above vanilla chart with the new one will be informative).
  24. ... for context to last post and you Seinfeld fans: Uterus is not the part of the female anatomy that rhymes with the name 'Doloris' Also, I had better remind everyone to behave in their responses to these last couple of posts. We are talking about the womb here and nothing more
  25. OT, but ... few HUNDRED tabs? That seems a bit overkill ... better to just use your history maybe. That alone could cause most browsers to lag or even crash. I can't imagine running more tabs than a single row allows. I would rather close and reopen a page.
