ENB .119 vs .123 Performance Question? - [SOLVED]
Staind716 replied to Deathwing514's question in Post-Processing Support
I have been using 12.12.12 since Boris released it and it is definitely my favorite version thus far. Performance is much better and SSAO is gorgeous. Of course there is still an fps hit but not nearly as much as older versions. Also depends on your specs and enbseries.ini settings as far as your performance goes, but I recommend everyone to give this one a try. A lot of optimization work has gone into this. Man, I love Boris! Ahem, in a manly way of course. ;p -
ACCEPTED Ultimate HD Fire Effects (by BuzzDee84)
Staind716 replied to JudgmentJay's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Hi everybody! Long time, no....see? Lol, whatever. I'll be around more now that I have some personal things taken care of and do a little updating on the wiki. Now on topic, I haven't taken any comparison screenshots since I just noticed this BUT I do have a shot with Ultimate HD Fire Spells after overwriting Cinematic Fire Spells. Didn't bother to check what it overwrote to be honest but I am very happy with the results. :) EDIT: Use the Image button so they're caught by Highslide and not breaking the page. ~Farlo -
Biggest question is if you want one for CoT or if that isn't a big deal compared to performance. Let me know that and I can probably help you find a good one.

Ah, I get it. Well, Seasons of Skyrim is really good. I have tried it myself and like it a lot. I know quite a few people are working on some great 0.119 configs and I have taken some test runs with a few of my friends wips to give them some feedback. So keep your eye out, a lot of really great ones will be coming very soon. If I can find time I will pop 0.119 in with Countervibe and see how involved it would be to upgrade it and keep the same feel and give you some tips on it. We just don't want to do it for an official release because after talking about it we feel it would be more of a placebo effect done for "popularity" sake than because we honestly felt it added enough to make it worthwhile. Gotta maintain some integrity. ;) Don't know when I would have a chance to check that out since I am so busy with my son's doctors and that is my first priority. What little free time I do have right now is taken up with our current ENB's, our wip, one I am helping a friend with, and doing a little testing for friends. And very little time for that. That's why I haven't had time to add to the guide yet either. You could try it yourself and see how it goes. If your settings get a little too far off it's easy but a little painful to restart. If you want I can send you some links for some helpful information if you feel ambitious. :)

Well, the main reason we aren't updating our current ENB's to 0.119 is because the only effect it adds compared to 0.113 is the SkyLighting which neither Kyo or I are crazy about. Not using it in our 0.119 wip either. Personal preference of course but in our opinion the little it adds isn't nearly worth the cost to performance. Not to mention we don't really care for the look of the SkyLighting anyway. 0.119 is great for the interior / exterior nightime separation but 0.113 still rocks on it's own. So unless you are looking to just add the SkyLighting feature to an existing 0.113 configuration or have a little more control over the settings for interior / exterior it really isn't worth doing to be completely honest with you. Now for an older version or completely new one, it is a different story. Just kind of hard to advise on that without knowing which one you would want to upgrade.

Actually I have to admit this setting I always left to true and took on faith that the Mighty Russian knows best for this one. I felt a little silly asking my buddies about EXACTLY what bugs it fixes and was relieved and amused when the concensus was "Uh, you know, I'm not quite sure but Boris knows best. Something to do with adding ENB to Skyrim". Ok, so who didn't know that? :D One brave soul even marched straight into the lions den, at the risk of being horrifically scarred for life, beaten, abused, and possible insults against the very woman who bore him. Thankfully either Boris was in a good mood or was already busy relentlessly ridiculing another poor victims intelligence or lack thereof. He made it back with this answer. Slightly edited from "BorisSpeak" for easier understanding. ;) Rendering issues often occur when you introduce a binary that a game will not execute, like the ENBSeries binary. Generally speaking, these are crash bugs, engine bugs, and system allocation bugs (like Skyrim being a CPU-intensive game, therefore ENBSeries rectifies that by pushing some rendering onto the GPU, balancing things out). So basically what we already knew. Bugs related to the addition of the ENBSeries binary. Unless I find someone who has already done this, the only way to find out EXACTLY which bugs the FixGameBugs actually eliminate is to decompile the binary. And to be honest, right now we are all too busy (LOVE 0.119 :D) and not curious enough to go through that ordeal at the moment. I will keep trying to find a more detailed answer but for now this is all any of us know. So my advice is to trust in the Almighty Russian and keep this set to true. Boris knows best. ;)

This does look pretty sweet but I am holding off for a while because of all the scripts. I have already had enough trouble because of scripted mods to last me. Not saying it's a gamebreaker or not a good mod, it's just not enough for me to take a chance on.

Thanks! Still a wip with some soon to be released "extras" from a resident Nexus genius. Can't really say more about those or they will find me in concrete shoes at the bottom of a lake. I'll let you guys know as soon as they are available. Very impressive. ;) Not really sure if we will be releasing this ENB though. Right now it's just something we are playing around with.

He does have some nice custom shaders there. Since I'm such a chromatic aberration and anamorphic lens flare fan I am looking forward to an update. This was based on one of Matso's older codes before those were available. Still a great job though. I really like what he's doing with this and keeping an eye on it. Very vanilla-like for you vanilla fans. ;)

Just a quick note to let you know I haven't abandoned the guide. Been taking my son back and forth to doctors all week and playing with 0.119 so really busy. I will add more as soon as possible.

Just go into your enbseries.ini and under [EFFECT] change EnableDepthOfField to false. ;)

Updated guide with performance tips, Crossfire fix for ATI, and a few other minor things in Troubleshooting section. Oops, just remembered I need to add one or two things to Configuration that tie in with it. Doing that now. Edit: Done for tonight.

Looks good. I'm going to add performance tips and troubleshooting in an hour or so. I'll stick 'em both in troubleshooting since they are somewhat related. Also got some updated info for XFire users from ZeroKing who is working with Boris on that issue that I will add too.

Yep, we get that one quite a bit. Already planned to add it to the guide in troubleshooting section since it's a very common question. Once I get a minute to breathe and add that section anyway. ;) -
[Solved] DoF will not focus

Glad you got it figured out. Don't feel bad. You are far from the only one who makes mistakes now and again. I know I have made my share. ;) -
No problem! Lol, now I really need to get busy and add more content. ;P

Staind716 replied to cykososhull's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Are you using SMAA with it also? Can't remember if bronze316 is using it in Project ENB or not. Edit: Never mind. Just checked. Try using one of the optional DOF files in the downloads and if you are still having trouble leave him a comment. -

Yep, something screwy there. Which ENB are you using? You aren't using DynaVision as well are you? -
Skyrim character creation menu & FOV
Staind716 replied to carlos3lance's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Very common issue with DOF. The solution is simple. Just hit Shift+F12 to disable while creating your character and again to reenable when you are done. ;) Also a good little trick if you encounter long loading times as well. :) Edit: And yes Farlo, I know that's basically the same thing you said. I just added the command to do it is all. :P -

Haha! Oh, yes indeed. Been using STEP since day one and am still a huge fan. :D -
Sorry I'm just seeing this. Been insanely busy lately. I suggest giving the new 1.1 version a try. This one has the new bloom code additions by Matso and some other things have been improved also. Give this one a shot and let me know what you think. :)
