Aiming takes practice
DanielCoffey replied to alexbeugelsdijk's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
The Requiem Roleplaying Overhaul affects archery at low levels. Arrows fall short and their penetration against armour is poor until perks are invested. That might be what you are looking for? You could either use Requiem as is or study it to see how the Archery changes were done. -
ACCEPTED Complete Crafting Overhaul Remade (by kryptopyr)

I have been made aware that CCOR provides optional edits to the text on a couple of books. I will be making an optional Compatibility Patch between Book Covers Skyrim and CCOR when I issue my next release. I have some wizard problems to solve first and some other mods to provide patches for but CCOR is in my queue. -

The illustrated letters in the books are part of the default install and were not edited by the Book Covers mod. You should check that you have not mis-optimised them in DDSopt. -
Item Ownership Changes
DanielCoffey replied to halfisglassfull's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Once you are "friendly" with a building's owner they will let you take some of their lower value items. This may be what you are seeing. For example, start a new game and visit the Riverwood Trader. All items are marked as "Steal". Once you have returned the claw, the majority will be "Take" but not all. -

It is included in Unreal Cinema but if you use just the ENBoost tool instead of a full ENB it is still beneficial. I have a folder with the Particle Patch on its own if you would like it. PM me if you want it. Oh, and thanks of the Compatibility Patch between BCS and Non-Automatic Skillbooks - I will get to work on it over the next few days as I am in the middle of building a new PC. -

Yay - the new coins are in! Thanks for posting the new screenshots on the Coin Replacer Redux too. For those who are interested, the new coins are flavour and role-play only at the moment and are in very limited supply. It is possible that other interested parties may attempt to influence their general release. The Silver Bloods might be involved. The Thieves Guild certainly would be. Who knows what the Imperials or Thalmor would think of any attempt by Ulfric to legitimise his position before the Moot. -
Ogham - you have PMs disabled so I can't reply to your message. Could you check your settings and let me know when I can message you please.

Lovely shot! Out of interest, do you like the letterbox because it allows the HUD elements to be against a black background and out of the main playing area or does the letterbox increase performance by limiting the amount the GPU has to render? -

Yes when the Nexus is behaving well but if you read the main Nexus News page you will see there are issues while they migrate to new hardware at the moment. -

You could do so but it is not mandatory. Mind you, it is often a good idea to check you have completed a key stage like the texture work properly in case it becomes harder to troubleshoot later. -
I understand that there is currently a Compatibility Patch suggested for Book Covers Skyrim and The Choice Is Yours to do with the Note for the Forsworn Conspiracy? I have created the TCIY-BCS Patch.esp and put it inside the Compatibility Patch Collection on the Book Covers Skyrim page so this specific change is now easily available for folks who want to have the work done for them.

The newest Skyrim Legendary Edition is only about half to 2/3 complete but you should certainly be able to get the previous July/August Guide back up and running. You may find some of the conflicts resolved since mods have moved on since then -
ACCEPTED Skyrim Coin Replacer Redux
DanielCoffey replied to stoppingby4now's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
A heads up for folks - the textures in the next release of this mod will be a quarter of the original size without any visible loss of quality. Yay Gimp! I have some more CK work to do before handing the ESP back to Neo with some new content for review. Meanwhile here is some eye candy (Unreal Cinema ENB)... -
Gopher has just featured this... I suspect seeing the Head Bob parameter to 0% will alleviate all the weird problems on the cart ride.

I will re-save the existing Haralds and Dumacs (with their respective piles) in the appropriate format then when I send you the final version of the Ulfric. -
ACCEPTED Skyrim Coin Replacer Redux
DanielCoffey replied to stoppingby4now's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
While creating a prototype texture for an alternative coin type, I noticed that the .dds files I generated using GIMP at DXT1 textures and DXT5 normals were significantly smaller than the ones shipping in this mod. The Harald is 350Kb and its normal is 700Kb. My silver Ulfric was 88Kb and its normal was 175Kb despite matching the texture size of 256x512. Is there a reason why the .dds format used was chosen or is there scope to optimise further here? -
I have not looked at this mod to see if it clashes with Book Covers Skyrim yet but would not be averse to creating the appropriate Compatibility Patch if one is needed.

Dragonborn Spider Recipes
DanielCoffey replied to DanielCoffey's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
RESOLVED : I have managed to find that you are granted the recipes when you successfully discover one. This means i need to create textures for the Book Covers Skyrim DB Notes. -
I have a question about the Recipes for the Imbuing Chamber in the Dragonborn DLC. I know you get shown a Journal with a few suggested Recipes in but I see in TES5EDIT that there is a Note for each Recipe but no information on whether they are actually present in the game or not. Are these Recipes available in a regular play through from the World, Â chests or merchants or are they console-only items?

I would try to keep the sound mods as they really are excellent. OBIS and Immersive creatures could be added back later if you wanted. Run for your Lives and When Vampires Attack I would expect to be back in at some point as they have great utility. The whole premise of SR:LE is stability.

Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback
DanielCoffey replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
The issue is not the effort involved - it is the fact that mod authors do not allow their mods to be taken off the Nexus and distributed in this way, even if it is for helping another player. It would be too easy for this type of "SR Complete" install to end up on a torrent and losing the connection to the mod authors themselves. You are more likely to learn about modding Skyrim if you try to follow the latest STEP Core guide again. Break it into little chunks. perhaps if you get stuck, ask questions on the forum. It is a great learning experience. -

ACCEPTED Book Covers Skyrim (by DanielCoffey and doccdr)
DanielCoffey replied to dstansberry's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I have managed to isolate and work around the CTD with Notes. There is a hard-coded constraint that says there can only be one texture for a Note... but nothing to say that it has to be square. I used a rectangular texture and mapped the two sides onto different halves of it so now we have notes that are effectively double sided but still only use a single texture. All the Treasure Maps, Recipes, Bounties and most major factions use the new Notes mesh and I am in the process of rolling it out to all the general Notes and Letters in the vanilla game and all DLC.
