  1. It's great to see so many people experimenting with what's right for them in terms of food. I think the best thing is not to adhere too rigidly to any one philosophy other than to avoid processed foods of all kinds. I've tried a lot of different things over the years. I was a strict vegetarian for 5 years during which time I was very unhealthy. Never had enough energy. I was a professional dancer and trained an average of 4 hours a day, 6 days a week. Vegetarianism didn't work for me despite "doing it right". The moment I went back to meat I felt great. So I think that every body is different and for some people no matter how bad you want it, being a vegetarian is not going to be an option. So after that I went to a high fat "diet" but still ate carbs because I could. That worked out great until I "retired" from dance at the ancient age of 35, then discovered those carbs I could just burn through with my highly active days didn't react so well with going back to school and sitting at a desk a lot of the time, lol. So now i'm low carb although not no carbs and focus on healthy fats. What I do is I make a kale smoothie every day and that gets me through to mid-afternoon. The kale smoothie contains about 2 cups of kale, 2 banannas, 1/4 cup full fat no sugar or additives greek yogurt, 2 Tablespoons of coconut oil, 1/2 an avocado, about 1/2 a squeezed lemon, and a big handful of frozen fruit such as blueberries and strawberries. Sometimes I'll add a Tablespoon of honey of it needs sweetening, especially if the lemon was a juicy one. The best way to make these so that they're delicious is to blend the kale with water before you add any other ingredients. So you pack your blender with the kale (pull the stems off) and add about a cup of water and the lemon juice. Blend until the kale bits are microscopic and you've essentially got kale juice, takes about 5 minutes for my blender. Then add the rest of your ingredients and blend. You could add chia seeds, almond butter, whatever. Mid-afternoon i'll have something like a handful of almonds or if i'm home i'll scramble an egg or if i'm craving carbs i'll have some toast. Basically you have a small something in the afternoon. Unless you eat dinner before 6, then you can probably wait. I eat dinner after 7 and I eat whatever I want there although I still keep the carbs to a minimum. Pasta dinners are once in a great while. I think the key is not eating crap foods like fast food anything or packaged meals. You can make enough kale smoothie to last you several days so if your mornings are filled with rushing to work you just put the smoothie in a cup and go. It probably sounds like a diet but it's not. There's actually a lot of high-energy healthy fats in that smoothie and it's incredibly filling, perfect for a vegetarian if that's what you're doing. I'm not in the same shape I was when I was dancing full time but duh, no diet will make that happen without the accompanying 4-6 hours of strenuous activity daily. I still work out regularly but i'm not shooting for superhuman anymore, I just want to look good while I'm sitting at my desk modding skyrim ;) lol
  2. Ugh, seriously. It's actually appalling.
  3. So it's a toss-up. I think I'll leave it out this playthrough and use Immersive Patrols instead. This character is not particularly focused on the civil war quest anyway so I think i'll save CWO for a soldier start, as elwaps was saying that's probably when it will be most important anyway. Thanks for the input!
  4. Actually it looks like it's up to $999 on newegg. He bought it yesterday though and ended up getting it from amazon where they had the same deal but he also had a $200 gift card so I think it worked out pretty well!
  5. He ended up choosing the GE72 Apache-264 that DoubleYou suggested. Seems like a really good buy for what he's after. Thanks for all the input!
  6. Cool, thanks again
  7. Thank you, and thanks for the great mod! Can I just ask, why is it that the new version contains no meshes and textures but the old version does? Just curious.
  8. Just updating my mods and am wondering, in the main files section there's version 4 and version 4.0.1, does anyone know if both files need to be downloaded? Version 4 includes meshes and textures where 4.0.1 only has an esp file so i'm thinking I need both, but that would be an assumption.
  9. I'd like to feel as if there's some compelling reason to play FO4...I want to like it, but I've never played any of the previous Fallouts and there's really not much that attracts me to this one, either. I don't know that I bring much to the discussion on the finer points of the graphics, if only to say, as someone who is not a fan and thus relatively unbiased "I thought it would look better". About the only thing that makes me remotely interested in it is Michael of Gamer Poets FO3 , as he really brings it to life, but even with Michael's fun storytelling the plot of the game (is there one?) and especially the look of the game aren't very compelling. And for FO4, I was hoping it would be a bit easier on the eyes...I know it's a wasteland but I feel like there are ways to make even the bleakest of scenery intriguing in some way, with moments of beauty perhaps through the use of ENB-style lighting. Plus after 200 years or so there would be some greenery. I've read that all it would take would be a handful of fertile seeds to survive and 50 years after a nuclear event you would have a mat of green of some kind over the land, not the same as it was because many species would be eliminated but those that survived would adapt and fill in the ecological spaces left by those who didn't. Basically i'm saying someone please make a landscape mod that adds something other than brown death. Added to the bleak and uninteresting scenery you have the cartoony characters, meh. And I'm thinking that in FO4 the beginning story is weaker than FO3 or maybe the word I'm looking for is limiting, especially if you play a female character...(spoiler ahead, don't click if you haven't watched the opening sequence) So overall it's not a game I would spend my free time on before some great mods came out, maybe a year or so from now? Maybe ENB, alternate start mod, I'm open to being convinced of its awesomeness :)
  10. DoubleYou, that rig has a 2Gb video card, isn't at least 3gb vram needed?
  11. What a bummer. I wish someone would make it work, civil war is one of the most annoying disappointments of vanilla skyrim to me.
  12. I'm a water person. I've lived on the shores of three oceans, on two major rivers and once on hawaii. I love the water and I love water mods. I spent a ridiculous amount of time comparing them and I know I can tell you guys that without seeming crazy because you get it, ha. I think it's interesting how everyone has their favorites that they think looks the most realistic, goes to show how subjective some things can be. I'm waiting for the water mod that combines all the others and somehow cycles through the different looks of the different mods depending on the weather, time of day, etc. So maybe on a windy afternoon in Riften you get RW2 water, and on a still morning in Riften you get Pure Waters. Dreaming, I know :) Since I had to choose one, I chose Pure Water + Waterfalls. RW2 was too reflective to me in some places and the lakewater was too choppy almost like a large bay rather than a mountain lake. WATER I haven't tried in a while but when I did I remember thinking that the way the water moved bothered me somehow, seemed off. I feel the same when I look at the video linked in the OP. It's funny because that's the exact opposite someone else posted in this thread; they didn't like the flow of PW and preferred WATER. It's good we have so many choices to reflect personal opinion. Just my 0.02, I'd love to see a TechAngel85 compare.
  13. Hi, I'm starting a new playthrough and I'm considering using Civil War Overhaul, but i'm scared. Mod does not seem supported anymore and lots of people posting about bugs and game-breakers, although it's hard to tell if the bugs are annoyances that should be expected with a mod of that complexity, or true game-breakers. I have a Requiem-based load order and about 150 mods total. So is anyone here running CWO with a bunch of other mods? What's your experience? Should I chance it or steer clear?
  14. Ha, Hello Kitty and Barbie, that's pretty amusing. He's the seniormost NCO in the unit and in charge of everyone's security clearances, so I doubt he's worried about theft but you never know! This is his 3rd deployment in 17 years so not that bad really though it still sucks for both of us of course. It is what it is. I have a friend whose husband has deployed six times in ten years and has barely seen his kid's single digit years, so it can always be worse. Thanks for all the great help and info about SSD's! This was a lot easier than it would have been otherwise :)
  15. I think he might go for the red one. He says he likes that it's obnoxious, lol I guess when you're wearing green 12 hours a day you take what you can get in terms of different. I'm not entirely clear on how the SSD operates...would you download your games to that drive and run them through there to make them faster? Not clear on how that one works.
  16. Is a video card with only 2GB sufficient? 16Gb regular memory. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834232864&ignorebbr=1
  17. It's a great buy but unfortunately too small of a screen. Too bad he can't really bring a desktop.
  18. $1000 or less would be great, and he would prefer a 17" screen. Are there any brands I should outright avoid? And do the graphics cards in a laptop translate straight across from a desktop? As in, is a GTX 960M the same as a GTX 960 in a desktop, and is that card going to suffice for new games like Fallout? Thanks again :)
  19. Hi guys! My husband is deploying for a year and needs a laptop he can play things like League of Legends and whatever else on. Witcher, etc. Stuff to keep him occupied during much of the boredom. He's been running a partitioned macbook for a long time now but it's dying and obviously it sucks for games in general. The deployment was a sudden thing and he's insanely busy prepping his guys to leave so I told him I would do the research into what he would need, and considering that I don't know much about laptops I figured you guys would be my best resource to start. He doesn't need an insane machine and we're not made of money so we're looking for a good balance of running new games like Fallout 4 smoothly and not breaking the bank. I appreciate any advice, thanks!
  20. For any other late bloomers out there wondering this, I just finished playing through Origins and DA2 and am really glad I played both, definitely worth it and DA2 does not suck IMO.
  21. Like having a lottery ticket one number off from winning.
  22. I don't know if this is a result of the new binary, but Grim and Somber ENB which I use got updated to 277, and as I was installing the new version I happened to notice Grim's suggestion notes in the enblocal which stated that if you use an Nvidia card, set FixLag to true and it may or may not be helpful. So I set it to true to see what would happen, load a game and there's my FPS at 60+ Everything else was working as normal, I just had about 30 more FPS than I am used to having with an ENB. So I quit and disabled the FixLag, load the game up and sure enough, back down to 30. Quit, set FixLag to true, log back in, back up to 60+ This has got to be too good to be true, right? Someone tell me my computer will explode before I start getting my hopes up. Here's a picture with the FPS in the corner, in case you think I was hallucinating: How can this be I don't even...
  23. I went looking for something like this after hearing "Stupid dog" at least ten times within five minutes. I don't understand why this isn't in STEP as a bug fix, is it because it's so old? Does anyone know if there's any reason this mod should be avoided? No More Stupid Dog Comments
  24. Hooray! That saves me a ton of time :)
