ACCEPTED Relighting Skyrim (by NovakDalton and JawZ)
aaltair replied to z929669's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
RS causes lights popping on and off inside the Inns which ETaC modifies, but the author is planning to release a patch with the next update. RS also causes a weird issue/conflict with a few braziers in Whiterun and Markarth and I mean Vanilla assets, tested on a completely vanilla setup. I assume it's a lightbulb thing. It's actually driving me nuts, I've been trying to fix it for a while now but when I look at it in TES5Edit I can't for the life of me figure out why this is happening, as only a couple conflicts are shown having to do with the USKP...which I made a patch for, that had no effect whatsoever so I guess it wasn't that. Let me show you what I mean, maybe JawZ or someone else would have a suggestion on how to fix it. We're looking at the brazier in the foreground, particularly the smoke. All normal in this pic. Turn the camera slightly and here's what we get. Note the smoke now, it's lit up: It's really a small thing, but once you notice it you notice it for-ev-er. Several of the braziers in Whiterun do this, along with others in Markarth. As you're walking by in your peripheral vision it's on-off-on-off-on-off. For the longest time I was convinced it had to do with a JK city incompatibility, then finally I tested it with nothing other than RS, the unofficial patches and unofficial hi-res textures installed and it's still there. -

SKYRIMLE Delarics Conditional Combat Music (by Delaric)
aaltair replied to Muladhara86's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
It took me a couple days to get back to this. I did the search in editor mode within skyrim.esm as Keith suggested, and I did indeed find the same race keywords that Delarics uses, however, when I go into the 'referenced by' view, Delarics is not one of the mods which comes up as referencing that keyword, which at first seemed odd because I was hung up on the fact that I found the same races in both places, but I guess what is going on here is that Delarics is referencing races from the base game and then adding unique keywords? Am I getting this right? So for example, Delarics uses 'SprigganMatronRace', which is also used by Skyrim.esm, requiem, and a few other mods. When I go to skyrim.esm, find the race and use 'referenced by', what I'm seeing is that Requiem and Footsteps is referencing 'SprigganMatronRace', but Delarics is not: And what I'm assuming is that the important bit in this instance is not so much the race, but the keywords attached to that race, which in Delarics case are unique to Delarics, in the case of SprigganMatronRace that would be 'ActorTypeCreatureSprigMatron [KYWD:7300758D]' I did a form ID search for 7300758D and clicked 'referenced by' and came up with only Delarics. The same for all the rest. So I guess unless someone in Requiem randomly picked the same set of numbers to use in a keyword to reference those races, there would be no overlap. I'm sure I verbalized this at least as well as a five year old, lol. Horribly stated as it is, am I on the right track here or totally off-base? -

Wow thanks so much! You guys rock :) Before you know it, I'll be making my own mods. OK no way, but still I know so much more than I did, thanks. The fact that I'm even considering going through and manually making patches for my mods is something a month ago I never thought I would be doing. And also just to plug the original topic of this thread, this conditional music mod works perfectly. I always hated epic mudcrab fight music. -

Yep, I do see that, however I was going on what you said earlier when I asked if each mod affected would need a separate patch, and you said it wouldn't, though it's entirely possible I misunderstood the context! So I can create a Delarics/Requiem patch, and then I guess it's a matter of checking all added mods in TES before adding them to my load order to see if I would need to make other patches as well. If nothing else, this is a great learning experience! It makes me wonder what other mods I should be manually patching... Edit: regards your edit2, I can probably check for that keyword in in Requiem somehow? There must be a TES search function somewhere -

Ha I was just coming back here to post that I downloaded the FNVEdit training manual and read it. I loaded up Delaric's along with Requiem and applied the filter. So with Delaric's loaded after Requiem I can see that the added keyword has the effect of removing the Requiem-balance stuff such as immunity to sneak attacks on certain creatures. Loading Requiem after Delaric's means a loss of the keywords which requiem removes for some reason, which I assume would mean that Delaric's won't work, since there's no keyword for it to find. So by following the FNVEdit manual I right-click the conflicted keyword and 'copy as override', making my patch plugin and adding the rest of those keywords to that plugin, which then loads last. I know this is probably basic for you guys but is my understanding of how this works correct? The thing that confuses me though is, if a mod like Requiem removes the keyword (or whatever other conflict i'm patching, if this comes up again with some other mod) and then I add back in that keyword in the form of a patch, wouldn't that mess with whatever changes Requiem wanted to achieve by removing the keyword in the first place? I think I'm missing something fundamental here. Edit: In fact yes, I tried it, and creating a new patch plugin with the race keyword from Delaric's undoes the Requiem changes. So, I guess I'm just not getting something here :-/ ] -

Would it need a patch for every mod you add that includes race edits, so SIC, Requiem, Deadly Dragons...etc? Is there any information somewhere on how to do that, for a complete beginner like me? I'm assuming we're not talking an auto-TES merge patch. -

So, I would love to use this mod, however, the first post in the comments sections scares me off (as it is other people too, judging from the lack of recent comments). The post states: Undoing race edits and reverting USKP changes sounds very bad. So I'm just wondering if any of you wonderful STEP wizards can confirm or deny this statement. I know it's not a mod that's included in STEP although if it works as advertised it seems like it would be a great addition. -

Just wanted to say, I use this mod and love it. It really makes a difference and once you use it the issues it corrects become glaringly obvious to the point where you can't go back. Plus it plays nice with ENBs that aren't built around a lighting mod. However, if you're going to include it in STEP you might want to look into compatibility in the form of patches for some of the more popular town/city overhauls. I'm using it with ETaC and JK Cities and I get a lot of lights popping on and off. As far as I know, missjennabee, ETaC author, is working on a patch. However none seems to be forthcoming for JK. You will notice the issue most easily with the fire braziers in Whiterun. Even with that slight annoyance it's still worth it. -
Thanks again :)

Thank you for the thoroughness of your replies! I definitely understand better now the pointlessness of checking papyrus to track down the cause of CTDs. At the time (before I found Steve40's script) I was experiencing CTDs with Immersive Creatures installed, and my searching for a solution circuitously led me to checking the papyrus log, revealing the predator script errors (since as you said, the USKP fix would not affect a third party mod like Immersive Creatures) which then led me to Steve40's fix. I'm glad to know the warning spam is harmless! Even so, it would be great if you got permission to release his recompiled script, even on the rare chance someone needs to look through that log. I understand that the script fix warning spam will not cause CTD, the only thing I'm still unclear on and curious about is in regards to the original assumed need for such a "fix"... does the lvlpredatorscript warning spam you get when you have a third party mod like Immersive Creatures installed possibly cause CTD or freezing? (pre Steve40 fix) Or was that whole thing just a red herring leading me to believe I found the cause, when in fact it was just harmless log spam to begin with?

Mystery ENB settings files appearing in Skyrim folder
aaltair replied to aaltair's question in Post-Processing Support
Some of them reappeared, then disappeared, then reappeared again. They seem to have a mind of their own. Clearly it's a mod that is doing it but I can't recall a single one that mentioned anything about this happening. Since the files refer to enb settings i'm wondering if it has anything to do with ELE. I really just don't know, although it doesn't seem to be doing any harm and I haven't noticed any totally out of place lighting. So, I just don't know what to make of it. -
I was wondering if anyone is using steve40's lvlpredator and critter script fixes still, found here: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/985247-bugfix-for-lvlpredatorscript-errors-no-more-log-spam/ A while back I was setting up my mods and started having CTDs in exterior areas. One of the things I found in searching for a solution was the possibility that these scripts cause papyrus spam which can lead to CTDs. I enabled papyrus and indeed, I did have a ton of spam from these scripts. I installed the script fixes and no more CTDs, although that could be purely circumstantial as I also shifted some other things around. Hard to say. The thing is though, looking again at papyrus out of curiosity I now have a TON of this: warning: Property LinkCustom09 on script lvlpredatorscript attached to (00085D10) cannot be initialized because the script no longer contains that property I mean tons of it. Reading further on in the original steve40 thread I see others have had this too but that it's not harmful? The conclusion is vague. So I'm posting here to wonder if anyone has an opinion on these things, especially if the new log spam is harmful, or what. Thanks!

Left Pane Confusing Warnings re: load order
aaltair replied to aaltair's question in Mod Organizer Support
Oh thank goodness. The thing is, it's definitely helped me out a couple times. So when it's good, it's great, but when it's in error, it's painful :-/ -
I've seen this discussed elsewhere in this thread but I just wanted to check in regarding MO load order messages as it concerns Alternate Start- LAL. I get issues between it, The Choice is Yours, and The Cutting Room Floor. Basically MO wants the latter two to come after LAL, but this is not right when you factor in something like Requiem, which needs to be at the bottom, and CRF, which needs to be at the top. The Choice is Yours I'm really not certain about, but if I put it under LAL I see it's conflicting with certain things in the Civil War Overhaul and Requiem, and I am very hesitant to allow anything to overwrite those two overhauls. For now I've kept The Choice is Yours unchecked, because I don't know what to do about it and am hoping to get some clarity here as I would really like to use that mod. With The Cutting Room Floor, Arthmoor very specifically said: "It does matter. CRF should be loading nice and early, while LAL should be loading really late. So if MO is not set up to do this, you need to make it do so." I would really hate to have to live with that MO warning staring me in the face every day though :-/ And just to be clear, here's the warning: The conflict resolution order for some mods containing scripts differs from that of the corresponding esp. This may lead to subtle, hard to locate bugs. You should re-order the affected mods (left list!). There is no way to reliably know if each of these changes is absolutely necessary but its definitively safer. If someone suggested you ignore this message, please give them a proper slapping from me. Do not ignore this warning The following changes should prevent these kinds of errors: Move The Choice is Yours - Fewer Forced Quests - Improved Dialogue Options after Alternate Start - Live Another LifeMove Cutting Room Floor after The Choice is Yours - Fewer Forced Quests - Improved Dialogue Options

Mystery ENB settings files appearing in Skyrim folder
aaltair replied to aaltair's question in Post-Processing Support
I was actually afraid to delete them in case they were something important. I just deleted them though, logged in, walked around for a few minutes and logged out, the files did not reappear. I don't use any third party tools to manage the ENB and I'm still scratching my head as to how they got there in the first place...I really don't even touch that folder. -
Mystery ENB settings files appearing in Skyrim folder
aaltair posted a question in Post-Processing Support
I have an odd thing going on and I assume it must be due to a mod, however I have a pretty light load order and I cannot imagine which mod might be causing this. Since I use Mod Organizer and I've stuck to the same ENB I don't really look in the Skyrim folder much so I didn't notice when they were created exactly, though If the date modified is a reliable indicator then it was about four days ago. I've been testing all manner of mods so I can't really say what I may have added then. So I have 4 mystery files, all of which have a type simply of "file". I can open them with notepad. The first is called "0Tmw" and contains: [bLOOM]BlueShiftAmountInteriorNight=1.0[VEGETATION]SubSurfaceScatteringPowerSunset=1.0[sKY]GradientTopCurveSunrise=1.0[WINDOWLIGHT]IntensityInteriorDay=1.0 The second is "0TŠw" and contains:[MIST]VerticalOffsetInteriorNight=-10.0[EYES]SubSurfaceScatteringMultiplierInteriorDay=1.0 The third is called "d" and contains:[VOLUMETRICRAYS]DensityInteriorDay=1.0[iMAGEBASEDLIGHTING]MultiplicativeAmountSunrise=0.0 And the fourth is "ßèlw" and contains:[EYES]SpecularPowerMultiplierSunrise=1.0 Here's my load order: Requiem and all its patches along with DSR and CWO were just added yesterday so I can rule them out at least. I haven't noticed any dramatic changes to the lighting or atmosphere of the ENB but it may be hard to notice without a direct comparison. I suppose it's not breaking anything to have them in there but I don't like having things in my Skyrim folder whose origins are unknown! I'm using Somber 3 ENB. I haven't touched any of those settings in the GUI. -
Advice on how to resolve light source conflicts?
aaltair replied to aaltair's question in xEdit Support
It's not fading, it's turn the camera one way, you have light, turn it the other way, insta-dark. Like someone turning a light on and off. My load order at this time is extremely sparse, so I'm fairly certain I have everything in the right places. According to RS mod page RS goes at the top, and according to the ELE page, ELE loads after RS. I have that, plus I've moved them around a few times just to test it out, no change. I'm using RS for exteriors too which is where the JK issue comes in, mostly with certain braziers in a few of the cities, as well as two windows in Riften and guard torches. I imagine if it's something that needs to be done in the ck it's likely beyond me? If I do nothing and just live with it, will it make my game unstable or have any other wonky consequences other than being annoying? It's a shame RS isn't more compatible, it makes such a huge difference. -
Hi, I know there has to be a way to do this with these tools, I just have no clue how! I'm using Relighting Skyrim + ELE interiors and getting a great deal of lights popping on and off with mods such as JK Cities and ETaC. Is there a way I can make my own patch to resolve something like this or even delete or overwrite the conflicting lighting? I loaded everything up in TES5Edit to check for conflicts and I can definitely see the mods involved are...involved...but honestly I have no idea what I'm looking at or how to interpret any of it. I'm thinking of ditching ELE to hopefully reduce these conflicts but Relighting is also creating them. Any advice? Thanks

Alright thanks, that makes me feel a bit better. However... "A work unit or two of folding @ home"...what does that mean? -
As the title implies, I'm new to overclocking and fairly nervous about it. Just looking for some general guidance on what I've done so far and if I've either gone farther than is safe or can go more. Of course no one is responsible for my hardware but me :) I think i'm well in the safe zone but recently pondering if I could push it a bit more. I based my overclocking mostly on a guide I found that used my exact card, I followed the levels they went to then dialed it back quite a bit just to be safe. No issues that I can see other than my gpu sounds like an airplane preparing for takeoff. The max temp I've seen it go is 81 Here is a screenshot of my nvidia inspector overclocked settings, any hints/thoughts/advice/dire warnings appreciated :) my nvidia inspector
