Problems with Become King of Riverhelm
Aiyen replied to Pole's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports (retired)
Mod that are outside the guide you need to check though with Tes5edit yourself. But try to disable the gameplay altering mods from SR and then run again... most likely it is one of those conflicting. All the various texture mods etc should not conflict. -
There are many ways depending on ENB preset to alter the brightness. If they are older HD6 based you can change the interior brightness ingame by 2 + pgup and down I think it is... If it is based on a newer preset then most enbeffect.fx post processes have day night interior seperation in their values so you can independently change the respective brightness's. a bit funny though since most people say that RLO made their dungeons too dark hehe.

If you want a good laugh you can always install the mod that gives NPC´s apachii hairs.... it is so hilarious that it just hurts. Guess one could make a mod that only takes the hairs that are not over the top and distributes them to NPC´s As I recall there is a short guide on how to get started with that... or perhaps it was just on how to remove certain hairs from the list of char gen. What I really wish for is a mod that would make the vanilla hairs have the same seeming quality of the apachii hairs... Even with the hair improvement mods in SR they still look like eye sores compared to everything else on characters atm. -
I use CoT 3.0 and RLO 4.0.7c atm... with my own custom ENB. (Remember that CoT is incompatible with a few mods on the SR list like dramatic clouds.) ENB is personal preference... finding one that satisfies your every wish is practically impossible. Find one that comes close and tweak the last bit yourself... most of it can be done in the ingame GUI if it is a version past v.139. For performance learn which values affect performance in both the .ini and various .fx files (Most of them have notes explaining the various performance choices) and you can make ANY ENB preset performance friendly.

Having beta tested Dual Sheath Redux then I would also vouch for it. There are a few slight animation issues but this is because of the skeleton not the mod, so not much that can be done about it for now. Stability is good, install simple if you are familiar with skyproc patchers. Improved puddles I have also been testing out for a few weeks now. It looks nice, blends into its surroundings in a good way so it is actually hard to notice the areas it changes if you are not aware of it. Only problem I have had with Elys Alt F4 is that it seems to to have a bug with ENB ingame GUI causing it too input keyboard commands twice if you change anything (Do not know if this has been fixed since I last checked!). But no problems when you are actually playing the game. Realistic teeth... in the past few weeks the only teeth I can remember is from smiling khajitt... so have been laying off this one since it is not something that I have noticed with the vanilla idles etc. But will give it a try. along with webs and a few of the others.

Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

Have you done any DDSopt on the various foundation mods ? Since helgen is really intensive memory and texture wise compared to many other regions. You can also try to save just before it does it, quit to menu and reload... should help a little bit if it is memory related. Other then that try to disable Alternative start and see if the problem persists. Also with helgen I sometimes get a CTD there or a frezze. I do not use Alternative start and have done full optimizations... a reload always fix it. -

Good changes all around! Remember to enjoy your holiday as well! :) -
Actually your RAM above 4Gb is still used as buffer for the game so it does help reduce stuttering... RAM buffer is still way way faster then HDD buffer. Also if you can install a full SR with full 2k packages and play the game (With all script mods activated!) without a single CTD for several hours straight while walking around the world going into dungeons etc etc. then you would properly be the first here! :) Halfsizing the normals is almost a requirement for a stable game... otherwise you just stress the game engine too much. Of course with the new memory optimizations implemented in 1.9 then you can get away with not doing as many half sizings as before (I gained about 200Mb Ram at the worst areas.). But again the loss of quality is really small in objects you are not standing up close staring at, so no reason not to do it really.Â

There updated the above! Since you are entirely correct and I forgot about that! Also I have found an error in that comment actually. Since Enhanced Projectile Soul Trap is not included.. one just need to install the non ASG version of it. But I would never say that it is difficult to install or use... it is about as straight forward as they come. Guess my annoyance at it was due to the issues it caused when I first installed SR... due to ASG being at the bottom of the list and the other at the top... and me forgetting to deactivate Enhanced Projectile Soul Trap the first times while learning how MO worked. Better magic was my 2nd choice but lost out because it had not been updated in a while when I checked and empowered magic had DB support. I do like SkyRE, and my first small "playthough" before I found SR had its mod list based around it, but with SR I wanted a more vanilla experience before I try a complete overhaul. But in general then I guess all magic overhauls except SkyRE is fairly simple to implement in SR... only ASG could really provide an issue. I do not use Magic Duel anymore due to a large number of inconsistent bugs, frezzes and CTD´s it gave me.... also while I think the effect and idea is awesome, then I also predicted that I would properly get tired of the clicky click way it works rather fast. But I will most definitely return too check it out once the author updates it! -

Not really any point in mentioning it should be 5 since 5 is the vanilla standard. As you have found out then it is just not possible to get a stable game with higher ugrids and a massive mod list. Even if none of them are texture overhauls. -

The majority of SR is texture mods... If you do not use the final section of SR then you will essentially have a vanilla game with better textures only. From here you are free to use almost all quest mods etc etc etc. Most mod pages have a compatibility section that explains what the mod works with and without. -
In general it just conflicts with too many other sounds mods, if the effect it provides is not better then there is not really any point imo.

Definitely option B. Most people can just not figure out option A and you would drown in people asking why it does not work. Also yes do not ddsopt WATER since well... you need to look at it up close. Of course LOD textures are not up close and would be the proverbial exclusion to prove the rule. :P -

General rule for half sizeing normals... stuff you need to look at up close is a bad idea. So here character textures, armor and weapons etc. Landscape still looks good at a distance, but if you go up close to something you can notice the change. Also there are some issues with textures that are not square... since then you will get more noticeable stretching. Here trees are a prime example. -

RCRN is the package for people who just want an install button for all their weather lighting etc. stuff. However for every feature RCRN has there exist an individual mod that does the same, and most of the time better because they are more updated. RLO is just the latest example. I also prefer an ENB config over RCRN´s weird "ENB" lite solution. If you look at the scope of CoT 3.0 compared to the weathers in RCRN... then it is not even a contest. Also I do really not like their 70´s commercial nexus site... it just makes the small hairs in my neck raise every time I see it. :D -

Yes Skyrim Project optimization is worth it... it does not do anything that hurts.. at least I have not experienced any issues or heard of them unless you use some house mods etc. Walkman: if you find the dungeons to dark you can use a very simple ENB config to just increase interior brightness values to suit your needs. The most easy way to do it imo... no need for some strange "brighter dungeons with ENB" mod and yet another .esp to the load order. Also RLO is too good now to pass up imo. RLO + CoT 3.0 is going to be the best around until the others get some love from their authors. -

Dstansberry: Also sorry If I sound a bit rude.. most of the time when I write in the forum I am either close to bed and tired or early morning and not thinking... bad habbit of mine! :D But I find it is better to treat people like they do not know the basics then the other way around on forums... perhaps a very bad habbit! But rest assured i do not mean to be rude! That said this particular problem was also one I had when I first did the SR... I kinda made the ini´s first since that made the most sense because all ini tweaks are part of the vanilla game and hence cant hurt to get out of the way. I also created the bashed patch early on even though it only says it at the end. Also if you test run every step of the way you kinda have to use boss along the way. In the final version of the guide... sometime when the next TES game is released.. I think most of this basic stuff will be out of the way! -

Okay found a ... tiny bug that I would like to know if someone else can reproduce. Using the SKSE Alt F4 mod and an ENB with GUI has the follow bug. When trying to change values in the ingame GUI every entry gets doubled hence if I press 1 I get 11 etc. It is a minor bug I know but annoying when setting up ENB´s. -

Lauren: The armor is not just a texture put on top of the body mesh. Rather both the body and armor have individual meshes. This means that if you use UNP and only have vanilla armor then you will get clipping, because the shapes do not match. So no the body will never revert to vanilla, because with UNP installed you have overwritten the vanilla mesh with a UNP mesh. Also you do not need a body replacer. Most armor mods have vanilla support and optional UNP/CBBE support. UNP is preferred because it has a much wider support then CBBE does, and I personally think either looks better then Vanilla bodies. Haelfix: Unique uniques.. you can use them for now, but we already have the book of silence. and eventually the author will get around to overhauling the remaining artifacts as well... at least that is his plan. It is more or less either pure water or WATER... mixing the two might be possible but might give strange results since the "niceties" are optimized for the WATER textures. Nice call on the puddles one, will try it out today. Also for those that do not use an ENB I can recommend this mod for glass armor. Realistic Transparent Glass Armor and Weapons. Sadly with ENB on then the specularity is just too much and the armor gets REALLY shiny. :D -

Jason: About the CTD near the stables. This area is rather intensive in terms of memory use so CTD there are expected. If you have not yet updated, try to do that since the new memory optimizations help immensely in that particular area. Also disable papyrus since it does make the game more unstable and require more memory... it does take some effort to log every single script info. walkman: So when you run the patch it does not detect any mods? Check the log files in the overwrite/skyproc/AV dir too see what mods it has loaded and in general done. Dstanbarry: The guide is more of a guideline for advanced modders (In its current state) who kinda know the basics at least. It is not said anywhere that you should test run the game after each section, but it is still a good idea to make sure you do not have any game crashing errors. And the ini changes themselves are not strictly required until at the very end anyways. The .ini´s that are generated at the start of the guide can be used with no problem. And for the camera issue. Google Skyrim ini and camera and you will get sites that explain what the various camera settings in the ini does and how to set them so you change this. -

Ah good to know... well at least we get around a lot of technical issues these days! :D First getting AV to work properly, and then fix issues between various skyproc patchers, and now this! I will never get to play properly! :(
