Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

I personally use the Goddess ENB preset for lanterns, since it works best for me.. but some of the others are nice as well... there are decent screenshots to compare them. As for the brightness.. then yeh he has made them brighter. I personally just use the default to save an .esp and then adjust with my ENB. statmonster.. I will test out solitude later today to see if I also get issues in that region. -

I am using relighting skyrim for dragonborn, since there should be no conflicts with RLO since the dragonborn isle is fully seperate from Skyrim. -

You could also just use higher level enemies mod... Best NPC leveling mod out there imo. Has an option so only leaders and bosses are equal to your level while the henchmen are weaker like vanilla. Or an option so ALL enemies scale to your level regardless. It is compatible with ASIS for perks and skills etc. At least as far as I have tested by consoling myself to level 60. -
My old gtx 260 could run fine with just 1k textures across the board and then even an ENB with a mild DoF full SSAO if you use the newer more optimized versions of ENB. So you should be fine in that regard as long as you have more then 4Gb of RAM as well. The difference between 1k and 2k is not linear. A 1k is about 700kb - 1.5Mb per texture while for 2k it can be about 3Mb - 5mb+ depending on texture type etc etc etc.

I removed ambient seagulls due to the CoT sounds... since it was the only one I guessed could cause issues with it. But do not know for sure. -
Plenty of ways to get darker dungeons if you so prefer. I personally do it with my ENB preset.

As I have understood it then there should be no issues with already existing saves unless you call up the Char gen screen via console. -

Also as far as I recall then Acquisitive soul gems does not work with SkyRe because it alters the soul trap spell as well. I do not know if you checked it out or not! Other then a few typos and grammar issues, it is a very nice guide! Glad to see you got it figured out! -
Blurry distance is most likely because of the DoF... if it is Bokeh go to the enbeffectprepass.fx file and make sure the quality is set to 1.. might be set to higher values which really eats performance. However with any ENB with all most stuff activated then expect a drop in FPS. You should not really start to notice any lag until you get below 30 FPS... but the game might "feel" a bit more sluggish... but this is not really a problem unless you use combat mods that cater to fast and furious action. If you want further help to optimize performance just send me a pm.

I tested out the realistic teeth. it is adding a larger memory usage in scenes with lots of actors...for an effect that is hardly visible most of the time It is sort of like the half sizing of the normal maps... we get a bit worse quality, but only ever notice it if we deliberately look for it. -

Kelmych: When I run the game starting with ATTK... then windows including steam etc I have running use up about 2.0 - 2.7Gb of RAM. If I stress the game to its limit it will actively use up about 3.2 - 3.5Gb of RAM. However now when I look at my RAM allocation (You can used the ressource monitor tools built in) then after running the Tes5.exe I can see that windows now also assigned about 6Gb on standby or just Cache RAM. 2.7 + 3.5 + 6 > 8  hence if I only had that amount of RAM then I would not be able to have as much RAM cache... I would still be able to run the game at full active use, but without the extra cache I would most likely see increased stuttering because then the game might start to use the cache assigned by windows on the HDD, the virtual memory.  Now if I had an SSD the problem might not be noticeable with 8Gb or RAM since the SSD have such a high read/write and transfer rate and would most likely not be the bottleneck, but with just and old HDD then that is my primary bottleneck. Also RAM is still so silly cheap that there are no reason not to get 16Gb if your MB supports it. If nothing else then 16Gb allows you to actually not close down everything in the background every single time you want to play skyrim since there is plenty of memory to go around! I notice no more CTD´s etc with youtube running or music playing, and some other programs running then when they are all closed... I do experience a bit more stutter because the CPU has to deal with more threads at once.. Guess it would be worse for people who does not have a hyper threading enabled CPU, but I do not know, it would just seem likely! -

Actually the 4Gb is still a "waste of money" if we only consider Skyrim... The cost/performance ratio is horrible for the better cards. And due to the dx9 and 32bit limitations of the Skyrim engine you just do not get to see what you pay for. Perhaps the only benefit you gain is less stuttering and perhaps a little bit better stability. One small benefit of the better 4Gb cards are when you use ENB´s or other post processing since it requires a bit more VRAM and is very dependent on the GPU. SLI/Crossfire does help with ENB since Post Processing mainly requires GPU computing power. But will not help with memory since a setup is still limited to only one cards memory... which is also why cost/performance ratio drops even more massively with the best cards in SLI... you pay for lots of VRAM that you never really get to use. OC the GPU does help with ENB but if you do this then I recommend a factory OC card with warranty on it! Most Shadow rendering in Skyrim is purely CPU based hence better CPU will mean you can use better shadow settings without slowdowns. Also decals etc are run by the CPU so it is still vital... however OC is not really going to show massive boosts in this game, and in the end it is just going to shorten your CPU´s lifetime for a few measly percent of performance. Memory is the vital factor... having at least 8Gb (at least 1600Mhz DDR3) of RAM is a must, but 16 is properly the all round best since this will help reduce stuttering since the game can store everything it has loaded many times so you will never have to use HDD cache at all. Make sure it is in two blocks and not four. Less is better in this regard. It should go without saying that OC of RAM is just pointless. You get less then 5% increased performance and less stability. HDD....Yeh an SSD will be better but at best only help reduce any potential stuttering since the game can access the textures faster. But latency is part of the CTD problem so every bit helps. Also at the very start of the guide Neo has put his specs up and says the guide is designed for a computer of this size hardware wise... that should be enough. The ddsopt guide should be made eventually but most people find this forum and figure it out here. As for the optimizations of the textures... when the size drops then it is mainly because the format have been changed from a lossless format to one that has a small loss of detail but nothing that is noticeable ingame. When it increases then it is mainly because the optimization has fixed the mipmap levels or something else the texture was "missing". Or just changed its format to a better format. Also If you optimized EVERYTHING then you might get some issues... since some textures like the ones in Enhanced blood and WATER and properly also any LOD textures are required to be in a certain way to be showed correctly in all cases, so those should not be touched. Edit: The cost/performance ratio I am talking about here is the TOTAL cost.. hence also including what is going to be on your powerbill! -
I found it caused an instant CTD already at helgen keep so I disabled it ages ago... from what I recall then it worked for some people who had the opposite issue.

Hehe we really need a sticky post for the DDSopt rant! :D You can run SR with just a 2Gb card no problem... As long as you reduce the normal maps of all the major foundation mods(Except WATER! Keep forgetting that sorry! ), and do optimizations of especially the AV packages! Alternatively you can just install SRO 1k version if you have that around... that should also sort out ANY problems you might have that are VRAM related. The drop on my Machine is over 700Mb VRAM by doing that. Just reducing the normals gives half that give or take. For more indepth talk about the issue look back to about page 60 and forward... also a bit of info in the ddsopt thread. -

Just an issue that depending on time of day etc. makes so downloads time out... I have been told this is due to the way nexus site assigns a random server when you press the "download with manager". The problem is easily solved by just manually downloading the file instead from a server that is less crowded. But it is has been much more noticeable lately due to the nexus having some server issues and there only being 3 or 4 download servers instead of the normal 10. -

Problem is that small ones are just as likely to do the issue as large ones. But nothing I can really do about it unless I start a premium membership on the nexus, in which case it should always work I have been told. -
There is a new patch for minty lighting for CoT 3.1 up since yesterday... make sure you use that as well or you will also have a conflict with that. Immersive thunder is not really required... Dramatic clouds can be used but will make some weathers looks a bit strange since they will use textures that the author did not intend. I load in all of mine after WATER first Skyrim Project Optimization, then RLO, then CoT 3.1 Then I got Relighting Skyrim Dragonborn laying in wait since RLO does not yet touch DB. For load order I just use the BOSS one.

My testing is basically just add a given mod to my Skyrim Revisited list then use the console to get to the affected area quickly. Since I have not really played the game though I am not doing any sort of quest mod tests since I do not really want to spoil the game for myself! I guess that really limits my contributions to the visual aspect of the game more or less!

MO´s saving grace is the ease at which you can install mods, and the control it gives you! You never touch the actual data dir hence even if you mess things up really bad you do not really have to redownload the entire game! Or worry about if it actually removed everything correctly like with NMM! Also the overview it provides with texture and mesh mods to see what overwrites what is very nice to have! You can still do manual install of all mods from .zip, .rar files and it even helps you make the correct folder structure! Only downside I have with it is that there is a slight issue with downloading files from nexus at points... the connection can time out quite a few times while manual download works in the first go... however the authors says this is a nexus side issue with the random server choice and depending on server load etc. -

If you are using MO you can just install the rest of the SR mods and then do the cleaning and otherwise follow the guide. If not then it is properly best to start over from the beginning. -

Your level is kind of irrelevant in this since it sadly does not say what you where doing at the time. Are you just following the main quest... just walking around in general.. which quests have you activated etc. etc. This sort of information is required if you hope to get any help. If you could go into all the buildings earlier without any issue then the problem is most likely not a mesh or texture problem. But more likely due to a mod conflict due to a quest or script of some sort. Start papyrus log´s and reload your game and try to go in now... Then check the last few entries too see which mods are going haywire, if any. Also I assume that you have tried to start an entirely new game and went to whiterun and then see if the problem is there from the getgo.. since then it is most likely because of something you have done wrong in your install (The the before mentioned meshes or textures etc.). Another thing to try out is wait until another time of day before you enter the building... if you are using any lighting mods then this might be the issue. Also are you using any mods other then the SR ones ? In short we need more information :) -
You can also get better performance with SSAO and reflection by lowers the following two values in the .ini (Can only be done before you start the game.) SizeScale=0.35 SourceTexturesScale=0.35 The lower values the better performance.. but also worse quality. Most noticeable will be flickering when you move around if you are using high AO intensity. This also works for Reflection. If you want better quality increase.. but do not go much above 0.7... or well you can try :) You can also disable rain... I personally think the CoT rain looks nice enough.

Problems with Become King of Riverhelm
Aiyen replied to Pole's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports (retired)
In general do not add content mods after you start a game... save games do not like it when you suddenly just start to add and remove new scripts. Decide on a setup and play the game! You can make individual profiles for each type of content you want in MO for easy transition between them. As for the lack of BOSS list... first check the mod page and see what the mod author suggest if anything. Otherwise look at the compatibility section if it has any and see if there are any notes about the mod must be loaded after something else! If no info is present, then see what type of mod you are dealing with and try to find another mod that is similar.. once you have the name you can search in BUM for it then you can place it after that. If that fails then first try to place it early in the load order .. if that produce CTD etc. then place it late in the order and try again. -
