  1. Damn me for making this thread and the other one having the excact same issue! :D But many thanks for the heads up Neo! Good to learn from mistakes.. I will update the first post accordingly!
  2. Actually since I just did a complete deletion of all official .esm files (Also deleted every one from the overwrite and their 1.8 backups!) and reverifed the cache on steam and redownloaded them all then there is a slight change with the newest version of MO and TES5edit. The cleaned files are placed in overwrite, and the ones in the data dir are now deleted. At least mine where. I just placed the backups back into the data dir and renamed. Double checked everything was in order with boss noticing if any part of the cleaning step was not done correctly. Just started the game again and everything looks in order... well the game can start so the esm´s are working!
  3. Hmm something is fishy here, going to remove all official esm... except skyrim.esm and reverify the game cache to get pristine ones to work with then redo the entire cleaning step... just to make sure!
  4. Okay did it for all esm.. only the dawnguard one had any changes (6 entries removed as identical.) So made a backup and copied in the dawnguard.esm from the data dir to overwrite, and replaced the one in the data dir with the backup one and renamed.
  5. Hmm I do not see any changes in the update.esm. Start MO, start Tes5edit, select only the update.esm (The path it reads from is the data dir so I assume this is the correct one) Apply the filter No identical to masters removed No undeleted entries So guess there is something I have misunderstood here And yeh I agree with legendary skills... if you want to do that sort of cheat then just use the console... silly really. I have not noticed any new textures.. and most are overwritten by texture packs anyhow so dont want to redo the whole thing. (Sorry about the many edits but I think its better them many new posts!)
  6. In order to try to keep the main thread clear in the wake of 1.9 then I figured it might be a good idea to have a separate thread for questions pertaining to it. If you do have a full SR (v. 1.8) installed, then in order to update you just need the following. Install the latest version of SKSE and TES5Edit Reclean the official .esm´s (If nothing shows up then delete all esm from the data dir and go to steam and reverify the cache so it will redownload new ones. Then perform the cleaning step on those! You will also have to rerun the launcher once to create new registry entries for boss etc. Dont worry your old ini´s etc are safe within the overwrite folder so you will not have to create and copy in new ones!) Download and Replace the unofficial patches Update Community uncapper. Update other mods as you find the time. Rerun AV, FNIS, Bashed patch. Play the game and report back issues if any.  (Edited version that takes into account most of the first page in this thread! Silly me! :D ) Note: Now a few weeks into the latest patch most mods are updated if they required it, the above will allow the game to at least start and play, so you have a good base to work on from if you already had a complete 1.8 SR installed.Â
  7. Okay finished with my test run for tonight. No really bad issues or bugs so far. Tried with all mods activated expect magic duel, since that is just too buggy for me to use, perhaps I will use it again when the author updates it to his reborn version. Also works nice with CoT and RLO etc. In fact the performance increase and better memory management does show! I could run for much longer before my first CTD, and I noticed that in general the game was much better at keeping the RAM usage below 3Gb in areas that easily went past it before if I had traveled around. So I see no reason not to recommend an update. I did a little tes5edit checking and compared it with the guide... most entries are still valid since most of the mods are not updated yet so no real reason to go through everything once more after you update. Better to just wait until a mod gets updated, and then look it over as part of that process.
  8. The first step is to unpack the bsa into loose files... save all these files in a separate folder. Then optimize on that folder and save the optimized textures into a new folder. This folder you then install with MO and it will be used instead of the contents of the bsa. because loose files has priority. The guide on how to unpack the bsa´s are on the step wiki in full detail.
  9. Jason: Make a backup of your 1.8 setup first Then update the game via steam. Update SKSE Update the unofficial patches In the community uncapper ini set the autoupdate entry =1 This will allow you to start the game without issue. At least mine does, and I got more mods installed then SR... as for how stable it is I wont find out until later tonight! :D
  10. So far I have updated the unofficial patches, and SKSE and skyUI to 3.4... and the only change that needs to be done is the set the community uncapper to autoupdate until it comes with a new version. But the game starts and plays seemingly well enough, will do a longer play though later tonight, but for now there are not critical flaws in SR that prevents an update to 1.9.
  11. Also only use the version for your OS 64bit or 32bit... or other problems might arise.
  12. About Static Mesh Improvement Mod If you get more CTD´s all of a sudden in Riverwood then this is the most likely cause. This mod hits Riverwood hard with polygons and high quality meshes. Also the newest version is implementing 4k x 4k textures that you might not want to install! They affect lanterns... and there are quite a few lanterns around the world! So install with care!
  13. One of the first things I did! :) Will be sad if it auto overrides in some weird steam update fluke... Finally fixed my AV issues and is essentially ready to play the game for real this time! :D Also as long as the consoles are not 64Bit and dx11 then nothing will happen. The publishing firms are tied down by MS and sony sadly... as long as they want to publish on those consoles. And sadly enough then skyrim on consoles actually do sell quite well for some strange reason so they would not just make it PC exclusive. Also a full 64bit conversion would require a complete rewrite of the game engine... not just a massive overhaul like from oblivion to skyrim and that would take years... and not really be cost effective in this title but hopefully the next!
  14. Yes plenty of hardware, but sadly like you have observed then its a problem on the game engine. It only can access 3.2Gb max directly. If you have 16Gb you should be able to run full cache in the RAM alone (This is what I observe on my end The game has roughly 2.5-3Gb of use and reserved about 3-6Gb). However if you run the game at above 3Gb for too long it will CTD eventually... just because it cannot swap files in and out fast enough. It is a game engine limitation, and nothing can be done unless the game engine suddenly where to become a 64bit app. This is also why I think it is silly that people ask for 4k x 4k texture packs, since the game engine cannot support that sort of texture load anyways no matter how epic a computer you have. Of course a few small unique textures are okay, but anything that needs to be multiplied over several actors and meshes is a no go.. unless you want to make everything else look really bad. Also since you say you observe 3Gb of VRAM use... this is most likely your problem. The game has to load in textures from the HDD through the RAM into VRAM.. so if you use up all available RAM for textures there is nothing for other game functions.. and hence it CTD! (Also why you cannot benefit from more then 3Gb VRAM total since the game cannot physically load in more due to its 32bit app nature. )
  15. Just load RND after and it will work fine. I personally prefer high level enemies with ASIS (And throwing in immersive potions to top of the challenge!), since then the very start is still doable with duel combat but challenging... and later when you get higher level the game does not get any easier. Also I do not really like the unleveled lists the way it is done in unleashed... it just breaks immersion to find silly good items in every basic trader along the way. Also the community uncapper already can do leveling up adjustments, so no real point in using the unleashed esp for that. In essence I just found that unleashed does not bring anything that specialized mods cannot do much better.. and they still have compatibility with SR. Just a small not about ASIS though... it seems to have a slight compatibility problem with AV that I am trying to sort out now. I found out that it was the cause of my missing textures on certain creatures. Also it can be slightly immersion breaking since sometimes if you use the more spawn ability of it then it spawns many mobs on top of each other... so when you shoot one guy suddenly he is 7 :S. Also certain boss fights like at the end of barrow can get a bit broken since there is a potential for 5 of them standing there on top of the guy climbing out. Jason: Papyrus logs are stored where the game ini´s are in your documents folder by default. Neo: Welcome back! I almost feel sorry for all the stuff that you have missed :)
  16. Yes. If you still lack performance and get many CTD after doing that then you can either use 1k versions of the texture packs, or take a good look at SMIM since it actually also does make a huge performance impact since it increase the poly count by massive amounts in certain regions. But do you also get to play for a longer period of time without CTD? Stuttering is normally because the game engine is waiting for your RAM to write/read to the HDD cache instead.. or because you do not have a fast enough CPU etc. etc. With ATTK on you make skyrim even more of a priority which would make these symptoms even more profound since it makes more operations.Â
  17. There is not any point in using the no blocky as it is already implemented... that is the most annoying thing about the body replacer mods... there are all these small things you think you need but they are already in the more advanced collections.... but there are also some that are not. Just today there was another tiny fix out that apprently fix the belly button for the mature skin on some body normal maps... But as far as I can tell I do not have a problem with it. It really is a jungle of half and entirely naked women out there!
  18. Okay have played around with CoT 2.1 on as well now for a few days... and yes there are some minor problems with the adaptive interior setting when it is heavy rain etc. But in all honesty then the problem is fairly minor and limited to a few weathers where I think it is really noticeable... but most of the time after you played for a long time you do not even notice it if you are focusing on a quest etc. All in all great job from the RLO team and warm recommendations from here... Of course Relighting Skyrim still gets dragonborn for the next few months it seems since it is the only lighting mod that touches that so far.
  19. Jason and statmonster... just update the colored map icon mod.. they have a skyui 3.4 patch up now and the problem should be fixed... If you do not want to deal with it and wait until neo gets time to update the guide with this whole skyui stuff then just use skyui 3.1 as it works fine. All these skyui issues are because the authors have decided to make some big changes in the way Skyui works which is not really compatible with a lot of mods.. although most of the faults are fixed now in version 3.4... at least I do not have any issues atm even got wet and cold back so I am happy.
  20. TreesHD overwrites SFO so those are the ones you want to ddsopt
  21. In relation to optimizing AV, then I found out that some of the textures just do not like if you perform any sort of DDSopt on them. Especially the wolves. If I replace with halfsized normal maps they never show. It is the same with the Mammoths and perhaps a few other... If I do not do anything to them they show fine. Anybody got a clue why certain AV textures are sensitive to this and only on certain textures?
  22. You make a new folder named "Textures" put all the AV folders inside it, then ddsopt on that folder or you will have my problem where it does not touch the files. The stuttering is because you are still loading in a lot of stuff and you most likely do not have a fast enough communication between RAM and CPU to load in and out all the stuff... but this is almost unavoidable on any setup with this many mods that alter visual stuff. Also the GPU does alot more operations when you use an ENB (depending on settings) so it would almost always have a temperature raise.
  23. Yeah I do not have any seams either when installing mature skin after all in one face. I also think it is worth keeping it for the extra race specific normal maps etc, since they are really some of the best around. I was considering to remove fitness body, but it looks nice with the skin, but I guess that is just personal taste. But in general I agree that it is good to have a guide to explain it since the body replacer mods are quite the jungle of options and whatnot...
  24. Statmonster: The guide on the step WIKI is a good place to start for ddsopt. Other then that there have been many posts about it in this thread... just go back to about 60 and skim forward. As for the size... 8k x 8k is just to make sure that it never alters the size of textures. If you put it lower then the size of a texture it will downsize it. But yes 2k x 2k normal maps needs to be reduced to 1k x 1k as a rule of thumb. Also yeh if you did not run as admin then you most likely have done something wrong with the official textures. The most vital mods to optimize is SRO, and the other outdoor mods. However do not touch AOF mountains and WATER! Jason: This is most likely because you have multiple versions of java installed because oracle is a crap company that cannot even manage to make sure that the old version is uninstalled when they update version numbers... You only need the newest version 7 something. Also all the other settings can just be input manually in the box that pops out when you create an executable. Just put in the correct paths if it cannot manage on its own.
  25. Yay spendt all day learning every detail of those pesky body overhauls! And that body texture is by far superior to the base one used in SR with minimal fuss to install! I can also recommend it... although I would personally use the optional mole less face texture... since after a while you get annoyed that everyone has the exact same moles in the face as you! There are plenty of nice optional body textures as well! But since there are not that many skimpy armors in the SR selection then it does not really matter all that much. In other mods I personally removed the Enhanced Projectile Soul Trap and Acquisitive Soul Gems and replaced them with Empowered magic instead as it already has the features those mods add built in. Also I really like that it keeps vanilla perk trees and spells for the most part. Only changes are balance changes to make magic more fun and less broken! I can highly recommend it! In general those two mods have bothered me since day one...Also removed a few other mods since I just did not think they added anything to the game or was worth the trouble. Destructible bottles (In 50 play tests I never smashed a single bottle! And when I finally did, the single breaking glass sound was just not authentic or realistic in most locations), more village animals (I just have too much stuff in Riverwood and this solved my persistent CTD there. Also with AV then this mod is major resource hog! ), roosters at dawn, lantern caretakers (These two... Specific place, at a specific time and minimal immersion anyways imo.) Â
