  1. so it only took 3 hours to optimize ^^ and so far the results are not bad at all! :D by the way. in the DDSopt guide in the benchmarking section there should be a number indicating the memory improvement from vanilla to optimized! just as a little bonus!
  2. You should find everything you need over hereIt might also be referred to here
  3. Here's the full article (afaik) imgur.com/a/fO9Ty#0
  4. Also did you guys notice that this has become part of this now? And that it has a new master? oh and how do I know whether this batch thing actually worked? i just kept pressing enter and eventually it closed by itself. was that it? Is this thing really supposed to take about 15 hours of optimization? :(
  5. great so now i have another 4 HDDs registered on my computer which are of course all the same. so how do I undo this? so they are deleted by deleting the files they're referring to but they come back as soon as the same path is used for something... probably something i have to fix in another way. just don't know how... also my bsa->bsa.bsa.bsa conversion was caused by not clicking on the "Use folder" button
  6. Somehow I have a problem with this guide. I did everything as recommended until I'm supposed to use the Clean HRDLCFix batch. As I extracted the bsa's of the original Data folder with DDSopt i got a file named out.bsa.bsa.bsa and a log file with a similar name. But no extracted files. I used OBMM to extract the folder further so I got the textures-folder. I tried it without a separate extraction but it would just say, that the folder could not be found. any input on this?
  7. Well, just to give more flesh to my earlier comment: It has great potential... a huge potential. Actually the potential is so big that it's going to be a disappointment however good it will ever be developped. This is pretty sad, though. TES has never been intended to become a MMO. It will probably end as another WoW duplicate with all the things that made TES unique removed to fit better into the genre. I just hope that they'll recover fast from their MMO-efforts as I would like to see TES survive for the next decades. If it should against all expectations become the MMO of the decade or sth like that I hope that they'll not let down the single player RPG TES has so far "grown up" with.
  8. it just really reminds me of lord of the rings online... :/
  9. Yep I found a lot of really good infos on plenty of the settings and what I found out is that a couple of those deactivated by default are focused on good performance rather than max visual quality. I think we could also integrate those findings into a nVidia-CP/Inspector guide. Most people are looking for the meaning of those settings but can't find the right websites for good infos about it so they can try some good and working settings. EDIT: Well, I did another series of tests. Now I stood on the very top of the throat of the world, the piece of rock in skyrim using console commands (tlc) and did 5 videos. What I did before was deactivating vsync (in skyrimprefs.ini and Nvidia Inspector) and activating triplebuffering (not in NVidia Inspector but using D3DOverrider because that's the only way to make triplebuffering work). So my framerate is no longer limited by my 75 Hz refreshrate. First of all. No noticeable performance drop. FPS at about 135 all the time. Whilst recording down to 60 because of FRAPS limitation. I guess because almost no close distance objects had to be rendered. Video 1: Oh. My. God. If you have ever looked DOWN from there you will have noticed how horrible the shorelines and coasts are flashing or z-fighting. what happened too, was that z-fighting was obvious on every single mountain range in Skyrim. Video 2: Applied my fixes. Still there is a lot of z-fighting, especially in further distances (since mesh-LOD-Fade-Distance is at 1,000,000.0000 or sth like that 500,000 isn't enough to hide those mountains. Closer mountains do look a lot better, especially with the clouds. BUT the shoreline is just as bad. Video 3: DOUBLED my terrain manager and skycell values but no better results than in video 2 where achieved. Video 4: Took one major graphic tweak ini config (skyrimprefs and skyrim.ini) and applied my tweaks: no better results than in video 2. Video 5: Took another major graphic tweak (prefs and skyrim.ini) and applied my tweaks: no better results than in video 2. So, what I wanted to say is, that the other z-fighting objects cannot be solved by my tweak alone and will need some extra tweaks. I think my tweak gets limited by other values, but I don't really know which so far.
  10. According to their Changelog it is. I actually just mentioned it in a message to Gopher, so he could cover it. I told him several possibilities how to solve it. I did forget about USKP though. Thanks for the reminder! :)
  11. EDIT: just being stupid. of course there's no sli bug without sli... -.-''' ^ So, what's quite interesting is, if SLI is activated (of course) and my FPS is higher than 60 the SLI water artifacts aren't problematic at all. Just if I get down to 40 as I was whilst recording the effect worsened a lot.
  12. Could you try it without FPS-Limiter or is it too much of a hastle to you?
  13. I had it marked as red, but it wouldn't convert the colors to this editor. red is for untested. well, I appreciate the input! :-)
  14. Did you check FPS? You could add this tweak to the ini section...
  15. I'm initiating everything and anything possible in my time given ;-) Hopefully the audience watching Skyrim Mod Sanctuary will be motivated to join in!
  16. so I added the tiny little To-Do-List to the OP... anybody need some work?
  17. Hey guys! I've got some plans sketched out for writing a Skyrim Bugs Guide. It will cover lots of prominent Skyrim Bugs, a detailed description of them and if available any fixes or improvements that can be applied. The different bugs will be worked on here in this thread by volunteers and will be implemented in a STEP-wiki-guide as soon as they're ready. Also it will be uploaded on the Nexus as a .pdf-file if it's ready for it, so people can check in an easy manner if any breaking news on bugs are around. I provided SkyrimNexusModder Gopher with a database on all of the bugs and fixes etc. pp. I found so far and he'll produce video/s about these in either his Skyrim Mod Sanctuary or a separate series of videos. He mentions it in his latest Skyrim Mod Sanctuary Part 25 www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5gKcjm66qM . As soon as the guide is finished and on the nexus we'll be able to get some featurings by big Skyrim Mod Channels. This might get some more attention for Skyrims problems (at least for PC-versions) so Bethesda might concentrate their efforts on finding solutions on skyrim-based problems! I think this project is in the interest of the whole Skyrim community! I will NOT be able to do this on my own, but I hope that I'll get some support on this matter from... YOU! ;-) Cheers, torminater EDIT: So here's what we're going to work on so far!
  18. I didn't say I trust in this site, but some fixes might actually work!
  19. Hey guys, found a source on the internet saying it knows fixes for everything and anything in skyrim here's all the data they threw out (I posted it here cuz their website was always redirecting me to some commercial junk...) I would like to test all of those things recommended but it's kinda hard to simulate game crashes on a different rig than the one causing problems...
  20. I'm just thinking about Titanis right here xD Not against big projects at all, but imho they've moved far past the reality
  21. Ok, good to know. Could you do some further testing on that matter? maybe I can tweak the view distances a bit more manageable for rigs like yours if this should be the cause of game crashes...
  22. unless he gathers a couple of Ethatron's under his banner o'course ;-)
  23. good to know! :) I'll watch the mod!
  24. yope, that's a good tip. also, do you remember when this problem roughly started? it could be related to my tweak. maybe the draw distances are too big for some rigs. somebody else reported regular game crashes with my tweak, but his cpu is pretty weak.
