Black Circles, z-fighting and texture shimmering
torminater replied to torminater's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Good news fellas, this thread is not dead! I'm currently revising my z-fighting tweaks, since for me with the newest skyrim/driver/enb updates they became redundant. Since this is my working protocol, any interested can provide some feedback. From the saveini generated ini for Skyrim (vanilla) I have destillated the most interesting categories for this topic. I then searched for specific values in the categories, which might have any impact on distant terrain or how it is rendered. Now... How do I find out where to start? First of all, I'll try to find a mention of LOD stuff from the CK guys. Maybe they know more about these values. A cooperation with a bunch of guys/gals will be necessary in some way, since I alone am limited by time, wits, RL and possibilities. -
SR and step are structured in top and lower categories, wheras are mostly but not always are alphabetically ordered. It is wise to follow the guides line by line, since that is how they are concipated.

I've Said so in the Assessment post. 3-7 are SR shots with and /wo tweaks. All tweaks are included in the ini Files.

I had been using this with tweaked settings, which make the recoil feel less "choppy" or laggy. I halved all the time settings from 1 to 0.5 I liked the more... heavy feeling of Skyrim!

I just jumped (tmm 1/tgm/killall) across Skyrim after running through helgen with my vanilla skyrim setup using a generic character to find some spots where the lighting was good enough and the distance was far enough. Shot 17 is near Whiterun. Vurt's adds the plants, SkyTest the animals.

To make an assessment: There are tons of tweaks possible and maybe in certain combinations all of them work together to enhance the view distance and LOD, but that would require far too much testing. As for the most obvious improvements: -> shadows for land and trees -> Grass distance 18000 is more than enough, 25000 might be overkill -> Clouds covering distant mountains looks kinda nice (plus they seem a LOT bigger) -> Tree distance tweaked looks pretty good, playing around with mesh values, doesn't seem to do much, if anything at all -> Other terrain manager tweaks improve the rock textures and landscape shape by nuances, but according to many people with a fully modded (e.g. SR) install the infinite loading becomes quite the issue if using very high tweaks for them (as in my z-fighting tweak). But maybe there is a possibility to increase them slightly or only a couple of them, so at least the closer parts have improved looks. -> Any other values are more or less gimmicks - doing neither good nor ill. Performance? I was able to load every savegame with a full SR install and an ENB active, getting at least 30 FPS in some of the shots - which is as much as without the tweaks... For vanilla Skyrim I couldn't even perceive any difference, since I already maxed out at 60 FPS all the time.

SKYRIMLE Ancient Falmer Armor HD Retext & Redone (by Barneq)
torminater replied to DCS78's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Well then it isn't all that bad. I don't know yet which armor version looks best though... the glowing runes make it stand out even more... do they already come enchanted or not? As for ragged... well the guy wearing the armor gets pretty much beaten up by the dragonborn, so his armor might get some dirt on it as well... All in all I think it's a matter of personal preference... -
If you are looking for work, you can also start the FAQ/Q&A on the Troubleshooting Guide on the Wiki. Much information is in the last tab containing the "additions" by me.
