DROPPED HQ Snow Texture (by Erik and gorefest2011)
TechAngel85 replied to erik1988's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
It's always good to have the authors working with us through the testing! It provides a much better chance of the mod being added to STEP as it streamlines the process to be very quick since the author is fixing things as we're finding them. SkyFalls author did this and that mod was the fastest approved mod I've ever seen on STEP. -
Ahahahaha! You don't know how many times I've been on the forums and working on stuff for STEP that I was completely buzzed off wine.

Well, honestly I don't upgrade my cards but once every 3-5 years so when I did it wouldn't be a stretch to also upgrade the PSU if need be. I know most say there's no such thing as "future-proof" when building a PC; however, I disagree because I've built systems that didn't need upgrading for 4-5 years and even then it was as simple as replace one or two components. If you know what you're doing you can build a system that will last for several years.

SMIM is a mod... Static Mesh Improvement Mod. The author uses a FOMOD for the installation that allows users to pick and choose which options they want to install. FOMODs are XML documents. If you know XHTML or even if you don't, they are fairly easy to figure out by looking at another author's FOMOD and using it as an example of how it works. I did this and was writing custom FOMODs within an hour.

On top of what Aiyen said... When running two cards (even one as a physx card) you need a SLI/CrossFire ready PSU. This means that it will have two separate rails; one for each card which are dedicated to those cards to ensure each card is getting its power requirements.

Bedroll...eh. But that hen looks pretty good! You could make a mod and simply update it with your rejects. Use a FOMOD so people can install only what they want to install (much like SMIM).

ACCEPTED Cutting Room Floor (by Arthmoor)
TechAngel85 replied to torminater's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Only the two last ones are a concern for STEP and it looks like they could be corrected in the STEP patches. Correct me if I'm wrong. -

SKYRIMLE Tamriel Reloaded - Textures and Parallax
TechAngel85 replied to EssArrBee's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Not on that specifically that I can remember. STEP is basically that guide/suggestions. -
What is your RAM speed? Your processor should be fine. I would think about getting a 800W power supply if you're going to be running all that stuff just to make sure you have the power requirements. Next, make sure your components can all run close to their maximums without any issues. This would mean making sure your motherboard has the proper bus speeds to handle the high-end speeds and making sure your RAM is also at higher-end speeds as well. DDR3 1066MHz should be your minimum on a high-end machine with 1333 & 1600MHz being even better and RAM is fairly cheap.

SKYRIMLE Tamriel Reloaded - Textures and Parallax
TechAngel85 replied to EssArrBee's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
SRO is not parallax natively. The mod that William linked to has a parallax version available for ENB users. -
SKYRIMLE Tamriel Reloaded - Textures and Parallax
TechAngel85 replied to EssArrBee's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Didn't that already happen? (get the SRO optional file for the mod)True, but that mod requires ENB. This mod has both ENB and non-ENB version. A non-ENB version of the SRO-parallax is what would be nice for us non-ENB users. -

Will need to be tested in TES5Edit for conflicts but if there are any they can be dealt with via the STEP patches that are in development. Arthmoor's mods are usually good to go without issue. -

We can put it up for testing. I haven't gone through the MS thread for testing candidates for 2.2.8 yet. -
SKYRIMLE Tamriel Reloaded - Textures and Parallax
TechAngel85 replied to EssArrBee's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I'm the same as mothergoose on this one. Some of it is okay, some of it I don't care for. I like the parallax effect but I don't like all the artisitic changes. I especially don't care for the changes in Riften. I wish someone would take SRO (which is our major overhaul that take the most priority) and make those textures more parallax. That would be a good solution. [video=youtube] -
I'm not a believer in overclocking. I believe if you want a certain amount of performance you should pay for the components that will give you that performance. Overclocking can be dangerous to your system if you don't know what you're doing. It will also void your warranties in most cases, so if you do fry a component because you didn't know what you were doing or because you pushed it a step too far, you just screwed yourself out of a $200-$300 component. You'll have to eat the cost and buy another one. I'm a trained and certified computer tech and I can't tell you how many computers that's come across my path that I was unable to fix because they, their son or grandson decided to "play around in some system screen" or "did something with some weird software to make it faster". If you want a certain amount of performance, just buy the components that will give you that performance, keep your warranties and maintain a stable computer. If you do overclock, you best do your homework and know what you're doing.

What resolution are you running at?

I've updated the changelog with the information from the Bug Reports thread. All that was changed as a result of that thread should be in the changelog (not detailed though). Here's a small list of things that still need to be done before the next release that I'll be working on: Compare of Core vs Extended mods. Ask: "Is it better than Core?" when comparing."Add "User's Choice" to mods that have no recommendationMake sure BCFs are up-to-dateReview and Update Dual Shealth Redux, XPMS, FNIS instructionsUpdate interior mods to 2K baselines (still in question/should be discussed)In-game mod configurations via MCM. (W&C, etc)"It would be really handy to have instructions at the end of the mod list with things to do in chronological order before runinng Skyrim. Much like neovalen has in the SR guide. At the moment in STEP, all these instructions are a bit chaotically found throughout the guide and people must click the detailed instructions of the mods again to see them, which can easily lead to errors. A standard procedure would be nice." -NeroxAdd newly created STEP patches/compilations.Scan through MS for mod candidates for testing."Better Weapon Swings and Thundering Shout .ESPS are not needed? They are just blank and are used with the BSA file. If so it can be suggested to remove the .esps from both I would think." - Eliian

DROPPED The Skyrim Distance Overhaul (by Grieche)
TechAngel85 replied to MadWizard25's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
This is correct, but you're not just standing around looking at the scenery if you're actually playing the game are you? You're constantly loading new cells from moving around. The only time I've ever just stood around in Skyrim was to take a screenshot. This mod has been in testing for so long that I don't even remember exactly what it does so I'll have to re-investigate it when I get to that point in the 2.2.8 development. Mod like this that have been in testing for a long time will be dropped out with the 2.2.8 release if they do not show any support where testing is concerned. -

Once loaded into memory it shouldn't impact memory any greater; however, textures do impact performance. The GPU has to render every texture in the game and it's going to render a smaller, optimized texture much easier and faster than it would a large uncompressed texture. In that alone you could very well see a performance gain in terms of FPS by optimizing your textures especially if those textures are used heavily by the game. This is probably the performance gain that Nerox is receiving. -
STEP has slowly been moving toward MO being the main mod manager. I, personally, have geared mod testing for STEP completely towards MO because it's just the better tool for doing it. Tannin, the developer of MO, has even moved his support for MO here to the STEP forums. WB has pretty much stopped in terms of development while MO has been been in constant development. After using both, I much prefer MO to WB because of its' ease of use and its' support of multiple profiles. MO is getting more and more features all the time too. I akin WB to old-school modding and those that are still using it are the users that having used it for a very long time. A "it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks" sort of thing. Of course, this is all just my opinion. Others have their own opinions.

Can anyone translate morse code?

I've already started going through the Bug Reports thread and gathering up all the changes for the 2.2.8 dev changelog and will be releasing it in the next couple of days. I've been keeping an eye out on this thread and just copy & pasted your post into my notes. After the changelog is up and running, I'll be looking into the MS thread for mods to move to testing as we as Core vs Extended mod comparisons to iron out Extended, per Z's suggestion in the Bug Reports thread.
