GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
oqhansoloqo replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
I just installed Flashlight NVSE. At this point, if I go and hide the file in JIP Companions, can I simply delete the oHUD mod from MO, then reinstall it in there, and then reactivate Flashlight NVSE in FOMM and have everything be OK... or not? Oh man.. forget it. I'm just going to redo the whole thing again... tomorrow. -

DAMN! I just passed that step, because I tried to follow the guide's directions exactly, even though I thought it might be messed up... I have a feeling this means that my installation of the UI mods is messed up and I'm going to have to re-do it. -

One HUD instructions slightly out of date. "Drag the newly created mod folder right behind JIP Selective-Fire if need be." This should probably say "Drag the newly created mod folder right behind JIP Companions Command and Control if need be." Also, regarding the JIP Companions Command and Control mod, are we supposed to be doing this like the previous mods' instructions "Double-click "JIP Companions Command and Control" and select the Conflicts tab. Find ".../menus/main/hud_main_menu.xml", then "right click->Hide"."? -

Fallout Character Overhaul mod page has a patch for The New Bison Steve Hotel and Lucky Casino in it's optional downloads section (placed there August 24, 2014). Is this necessary? I notice that you do not instruct to install this in your guide. -

I'm confused about the Tutorial Killer mod instructions, but only because I do not use Alternate Start. In your instructions, you say to move Tutorial Killer.esp into Optional ESPs. Considering that I moved Tutorial Killer - Alternate Start.esp into Optional ESPs, do I still want to do this? I guess this question must first be answered to figure it out - Why does you guide say that Tutorial Killer.esp is not needed? Is this because one of the other .esp files in the mod covers the job of it? If so, which one? -
What's the deal with the change in the STEP guide for cleaning Dawnguard and Dragonborn regarding update.esm? How was it before? I'm wondering now if I have to go back and redo anything...

Yeah, SRB did an awesome job with it. From my observations, he also goes out and helps mod creators to create patches for their mods improve their compatibility - very active in the community. When is this guide going to get its own background though? It still uses the Skyrim background... -

Well IMHO, doing that won't work well and will give you horrible stuttering. That's what it does on my system. The only thing that fixes the problem is disabling two of the memory settings in one of the enb's .ini files (I forget the names of the settings). I spent hours adjusting the settings and it all comes down to those two memory settings. It's probably a conflict with 4gb Loader, but I never ran the modded game successfully without the 4gb Loader - it's required, as far as I know just to start the modded game. -

Try looking into not using ENB, or at least set the memory management functions (as far as I know, there are 2 that matter) to false in the .ini for that. I don't know if you are using ENB, but that was causing major FPS/stuttering issues for me. -

I found these posts on the Nexus: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/849777-high-level-enemies/page-116&do=findComment&comment=12115780 Anyone know what exactly the "High Level Enemies - Increased Max Resists" incompatibility with "Duel - Combat Realism" is and how it affects it? https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/849777-high-level-enemies/page-85&do=findComment&comment=8487428 Anyone know what the author of this post is talking about - was it a problem with a CK edit the author of the post originally did, or did he figure out how to fix an incompatibility error that "High Level Enemies - Raised Ability Caps" still has with "Unofficial Skyrim Patch" with his own custom CK edit?
-
OK - yeah, different webpage. The other one does say "Skyrim Revisited: Legendary Edition" in the top center title though, which is what was confusing me. EDIT: Apparently Neovalen does not recommend the Raised Ability Caps or Increased Max Resists optionals of HLE. I say this because he doesn't mention them in his guide.

I went to the SRLE Pack page and could not even find a mod list in that guide - it also said it was last updated in October of last year. Is there a different website for that guide?

I second this - I haven't tried either mod yet, but they sound like they might be very helpful. MadOak - have you tried that Zan AutoPurge mod yet? -

Another real killer is looking in the direction of some of the ruins, like Bleak Falls Barrow. Got any ideas for that? -

3 words - "Skyrim Project Optimization". Occlusion Culling, for interiors. Are the exteriors handled in such a different way that it can't be used for them as well? -

Nozzer66 - maybe it has something to do with "Tutorial Killer" mod. Try re-installing that one. I say this because it is a mod that has a patch in its FOMOD specifically for Alternate Start. Maybe you didn't select that option and that's what is causing the issue you are having. Personally, Alternate Start is the only mod in the guide that I don't use. Because I don't use it, I also did not select the patch option for it in the Tutorial Killer FOMOD, but I know it's there. EssArrBee - no worries. Although I am eager to see some of these extra mods get incorporated into the guide, I also see how much work you put into the whole thing and think you should get a break from it for a little bit. It's summertime after all. :) -

I found this to be somewhat confusing as well. When I was updating to 2.2.9, I moved it down below DSR in my mod list and crossed my fingers that I had done the correct thing. I agree that placing the mod in the correct spot in the list would make it clearer and easier to understand. -

I have to agree. I got a drop of probably close to 30 FPS just by looking towards Bleak Falls Barrow (as an example, with the mod). Normally (without the mod), I don't remember it dropping just by looking in that direction. Though, I have to say that the last time I messed with the mod was months ago, so I don't clearly remember the details. Whether it's a bug in the engine or not, with the mod you get this MASSIVE FPS drop in certain spots, and without it you don't. I felt the odd sudden drop in FPS in certain locations to be downright unacceptable, personally, which is why I don't use the mod. -

Maybe it would help if someone created an Occlusion Culling mod for FNV, like "Skyrim Project Optimization". -
GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback

Exactly what I get. Yes, when I open a container and close it, the game lags a lot for maybe 10 secs (maybe?) before going back to normal. I don't know why it does that and I haven't figured out how to fix that. I'm talking a brand new game too, before having much in my inventory or a lot of items scattered around the game world. I also had horrendous stutter when I tried running ENB for the memory tweaks, alongside with FNV4GB. Of course, with all the mods installed, FNV4GB is required... ENB memory tweaks are not, so that is what I dropped - ENB tweaks. After disabling the memory tweaks in ENB (what is mean is having either "ExpandSystemMemoryX64" or "ReduceSystemMemoryUsage" as "true" in enblocal.ini - I think...) the horrible stuttering I was getting just looking around in-game was gone. I still have the other lag/FPS drop issue after looking in containers though... It also seems as though the average FPS just drops, in general, after a few minutes of playing. I don't know if it's because of rising graphics card temperature, or because of some kind of memory caching issue... but it seems to happen to me. Sometimes I would just decide to save and quit the game, and then start it up again and load my game, just to refresh things (FPS/memory/whatever...). I also did not notice much of an improvement from downgrading texture resolutions either (for example, using Poco Bueno versus Ojo Bueno), but I did notice some. I also agree with you about getting better FPS in Skyrim with more intensive graphics/etc. I think it's because in Skyrim the ENBoost memory stuff works properly, whereas it doesn't in FNV. I think if FNV4GB and ENBoost memory stuff worked properly together, then we would see much better results than we are seeing. I'm wondering if ENBoost even really works for FNV. The current version of ENBseries for FNV is older than the current version for Skyrim. Maybe that Boris guy needs to be pestered for an update for ENB for FNV that improves upon the ENBoost functionality. :) -
SKYRIMLE Immersive NPC in the Dark (by hacknpaint)
oqhansoloqo replied to Ganda's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Good recommendations. I use the Stealth one and RLO for exteriors & weathers, but ELFX for interiors. The Immersive NPC in the Dark fulfilled a niche and function that other mods don't though. -
And you are using Raised Ability Caps and/or Increased Max Resists?

SKYRIMLE Immersive NPC in the Dark (by hacknpaint)
oqhansoloqo replied to Ganda's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Anyone know of any other mod that does something similar to this one? I thought this mod was a highly promising mod. It has a lot of potential, but the author went MIA before he polished it up sufficiently. On my next play through with modified 2.2.9 I will not be running this mod, because it creates too many weird situations with NPCs not using light sources properly for me. Namely guards, at some point, start acting very flaky about torch usage altogether. But it's a REAL shame, because this mod fulfilled a MUCH needed gap between realistic lighting mods and the immersive (it makes sense that they use lights when it's too dark to see) and functional (you can see them when they fight you because they use light, so you have a chance to fight back) ability of NPCs to see in the dark.
