  1. It's actually released?! I've been waiting for that forever. It seemed like every time he was close, he'd go and add new features and delay it further. :P I have been waiting for this to start a new game.Â
  2. The flickering light should only be a problem if you set it to turn off lights near the player. The flickering is a result of entering the dungeon and the script running as you enter, so you'd briefly see the lights lit, and then shut off. So if you don't use that option in the ini, it should work just fine. The end result being that the entrance is lit and the lived in parts of the dungeon are lit. No video of it in action though. :/
  3. Well, I feel stupid. Forgot to link the actual mod. :/ Link is in the opening post now
  4. I'm a big fan of kuertee's mods from both Oblivion and Skyrim and his latest mod is definitely going in my game. What it does is turn off all lights that are far from the actors in interiors. Because this is all done via scripting there are no conflicts with this and other mods, technically. It will turn off lights from other mods as well if they are far from NPCs in the cells (as the script sees those new light sources), so it it does affect those mods. I wholeheartedly recommend this mod to anyone that is interested. Below are screens, showing with/without the mod and in combination with other mods. By itself In conjuction with Creepy dungeons and Enhanced Lighting
  5. Love this mod. Glad there is a basic version for compatibility. :)
  6. I don't want to use the big 2 packs, but there are a lot of little texture mods for TPC that I will use. So I'm wondering if I can use TPC without the 3 Required texture packs? It should work in my mind (it should just report that the tex from those mods are missing) but I'd like to get confirmation :)
  7. I use IrFanView with it's dds plugin to view textures.
  8. I'd love to know if using AO with AMD is cheaper performance-wise than ENB. I have to turn it off in the ENB because it kills my fps. I doubt AMD would give me AO without losing FPS, but I'm hoping it is better for me than ENB's AO.
  9. huh. This is the first I've heard about the mod being removed. I was considering just going with the HD DLC, skipping the big 3 (as they require a ton of time/bandwidth to download for me), and just using the smaller mods. I guess this gives me a bit more reason to do so.
  10. This mod seems very awesome. I'll have track this mod to watch it's progress.
  11. The catch is mostly time. Optimizing the textures happens outside the game and it take time to go through them all. Spend the time to optimize (just once) and that is it. You should have lower vram use in game now, assuming the textures weren't already optimized by the creator of the textures. EDIT: farlo beat me to it. He explained it better as well. :D
  12. That sign does not fit in well with the world. It feels very fake compared to everything else...
  13. BOSS and NMM should be fine after you reinstall them. I'm not sure about MO at all, but with Wrye, make sure you have the whole 'Skyrim Mods' folder backed up on the seperate drive otherwise Wrye will have to rescan all the archives and treat them like new (so you'd have to reinstall each mod archive so it can see which file belongs to each mod). That would only affect the Installer tab though, everything else will be fine.
  14. Sorry, I should have picked my words better. I meant if they make a pack, they should say that there are several overhauls and these are the ones we recommend, choose one. That's what they do with ENB: If you want to use ENB, here are a few that we recommend, choose one. So they aren't related at all, simply they way they are presented (giving the user a choice between several).
  15. I feel like Radiance enhances Skyrim while staying true to vanilla Skyrim enough that you might not realize content is from a mod. So, in my opinion, this fits STEP's philosophy: polishing up vanilla Skyrim without overhauling it into something new.
  16. If there were a pack like that, I think it should be like the ENB area of STEP, where it gives you several ENBs that STEP compilers believe are high quality (and work well with the mods in STEP) and let you choose one. So for this, it would be: Choose Requiem, ACE, or SkyRe and have a brief description for what it does compared to the others.
  17. Interesting. Unarmed bothered me as well. The mod I use to fix unarmed combat is Duke Patrick's combat mod. It makes unarmed much more viable, such as being able to stop an enemy from swinging his weapon, or grappling the enemy, etc. The mod does make combat much, much harder for me since I'm bad at fighting even in vanilla. This mod seems like a way to better unarmed without all the complexity. Not sure I like that it requires an invisible weapon to work though. That's not really unarmed, even though you won't notice the difference in game much.
  18. Did this not have a thread already? Wow... I figured it was awesome enough that someone would have posted about it much sooner. :P It's definitely on my list to use next install.
  19. Do we already have a mammoth bone retexture mod? The last bone retex mod I remember looking at simply raised contrast. Serious Mammoth Bone Retex HDÂ seems to be a good retexture if we don't have it covered already. It has a calcified version and a smooth version, with the latter being nicer looking in my eyes. Here's a few screens:Â Comparison of skull BodyÂ
  20. Based on all his work in Morrowind, I like and trust PirateLord's modding skills.
  21. I just compared it to several enbs with performance settings if available: Bleak ENB at 30 fps Enhanced Vanilla at 38 Season at 45 Wilds at 48 SkyRealism at (25 default) 31 fps extreme performance and 49 tweaked extreme (don't understand why it kept occulsion). Besidilo: thanks for suggesting I try SkyRealism. With the tweaked performance one, I got good performance and the settings looked almost exactly like what I was looking for too. Much appreciated!
  22. I tried this out. I have a vanilla Skyrim with tweaked settings/resolution to get almost 60 fps in my test areas (whiterun, riverwood, and riften). With the highest performance version of Phinix ENB I'm down to 35 fps. This is all pre-STEP so I'm not sure I could use this if I still want to install STEP on that installation... That aside, I did like this ENB quite a bit.
  23. Have you gotten closer to deciding whether this is better than SkyRe (or ACE for that matter)? Not sure if 11 days is enough to evaluate, but who knows how fast you might work.
  24. Oh, that's great. The hotkey icon was mostly what bothered me anyway. Much appreciated.
  25. One of my favorite mods. Only thing I'd like for the next alpha is an option not to have words on item activation. I don't need to see 'talk' when I go near a person because I know i can talk to him. Same with doorways. Now, other objects would be harder to know if they can be activated so I assume that's why he didn't do that. But I'd like the option to try it out.
