GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
VonDoom replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
Well, the NVSE Flashlight problem persists after doing it all over again, but aside from the popup the whole setup works like a charm, though I probably wouldn't recognize any missing new UI elements. The options seem to work from what I can tell, though. I even added in Thermal Nightvision this time, successfully. Game starts up fine with it, tested if it functions with the cheating option -- haven't specifically gone out to search Willow, but the mod's in the list. (For what I specifically did: I used the same procedure as for the other Advanced Recon mods, adding it in between Advanced Recon Range Finder and NVSE Flashlight, then proceeded as per the instructions.) The only thing I did different than in the guide was the exclude the weapon overheating mod. Oh, were any glasses included with the existing mods? Perhaps have a look at this: Glacier Glasses -

Speaking of, almost done with the list! There's a slight spelling mistake in the Tutorial Killer instructions: In the adjacent text box, type "Game-Settings and Override" and click [Save Rule].Should be Overrides. -

Another thing popped up: Faction Armor Usage Enhancement (RaestlozFactionArmorEnhancement.esp) isn't recognized by BOSS. It's missing BUM instructions. -

I've been slowly going through the mod list and two things sprang up so far: Hectrol FX DUSTSTORM Deluxe HighRes Retex has a variety of resolutions available, but the guide doesn't recommend any.Is it on purpose that the Ghouls Hires retexture entry doesn't recommend the Robert's Male Body replacer version? Also, having some trouble with NVSE Flashlight, too. It seems to work fine in-game (tested it with the debug option and forced my current gear to be one), but whenever I open the Mod Menu, it mentions something about HUDS and that NVSE needs to be reinstalled. I followed the instructions completely, the only thing I left out was JIP Realistic Weapon Overheating. -

Still greatly looking forward to what's going on here! That said, as a rank novice as far as actual mod testing, cleaning and editing and such goes, is there anything else I can do to help besides the occasional link when I find something nice? Speaking of, did any of you check out the RobCo Certified stuff I linked ages ago? Any opinions/knowledge of how well it plays with other mods? https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/43331/? https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/45481/? Edit: Also, congrats on the FNV Guide getting its own sub-board! -

You've seen this already, presumably? Since DarnUI is in there, it might be of interest: Darnified UI - DT and DR -

Mods to consider: Equipment: Advanced Recon Gear series by Gopher https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/users/38219/? Misc: RobCo Certified https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/43331/? Adds new perks and story elements that deal with robotics and cybernetic parts, looks quite rich and interesting. There's also a home mod related to this mod, Cerulean Robotics Home (https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/45481/?) And ... uh, yeah, most of the remaining stuff I have is either already on the list, extra race mods (Xenh NV by Xenius https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/35747/?, or TFH Rugged Race https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/48629/? by The FourthHorse), but you probably don't want to overload on those. Though both are very nice. -

Oh, yes, that reminds me: there's an incompatibility between the companion mod you mentioned (can't recall his name, at work now, otherwise I'd check) you'd include in addition to those I listed, from the Bounty quest mod person, and Niner. You can't progress with Niner in the ... uhhh, showing my lack of playing NV before, but ... that military base he wants you to sneak into for supposed giggles with that mod installed as is. I figure it's overwriting the same resource, so someone who knows how to patch these things could probably solve that. -

I'll have a look at the list of mods I independently installed either today or tomorrow and see if I have any recommendations to take a look at left in there. I haven't played that install much and am ... well, probably kind of stalling a bit with continuing on, since I'm rather looking forward to what you're putting together here, SRB. -

Looks like excellent work so far! I haven't played New Vegas much before despite owning the game for ages. Installed some mods after browsing the Nexus, but mostly did that 'freestyle' and without much considerations for what more subtle conflicts there might be. For companions, incidentally, since you are looking to include those in the future, the most recommended appear to be:Sunny Smiles CompanionBetter Cass/Veronica (visual overhaul only, I believe)NinerWillow Will you also be looking into Perk mods, such as More Perks? -
I recently started using it as well, but I sadly just can't get the autocast functions to work, despite adjusting the timeframes and such as suggested in the comments. It's not really a big deal and if I was really invested into it, I could probably do something macro-y with my keyboard instead, but it's really a great mod even without that functionality.

Looks quite interesting. I'll try installing this in favor of Soul Gems Differ (minus the new meshes and textures for the holders, which I agree look rather out of place).
-
Have you tried deleting the .ini files in your \My Documents\My Games\Skyrim (may be slightly off, reciting from memory) and letting the Steam Loader restore them to their base form?
-
Oh, yes, it didn't occur to me to also check how prone to the EEO error NPCs are, since I only converted the entire Blackbriar family for my sinister testing purposes (I figure few would even notice anything amiss :D ). I'll check that out in the evening. Though I believe it was noted that a patch for EEO is coming up, so there is that.

CTD and Performance patch ENBoost (by Boris Vorontsov)
VonDoom replied to EssArrBee's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I'll try that out later, it looks interesting. I've been having trouble with the last one I used because I hadn't optimized my textues at the time, but I fixed them up yesterday and should be good to go. -
It's one of the new hot files on the nexus, but I already took the liberty to test the 'Fangs only' version yesterday. https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/38829/ It looks quite good and I believe that, compared to the current vampire teeth mod in STEP, it's the better choice. I was also able to reproduce the problems the description states regarding Elven Etherial Overhaul -- it's not in STEP, but still something to note, I think. I was able to fix it by changing the skin color via the Chargen-enhanced showracemenu console command. I didn't test whether the regular skin hue option would do this as well, but it should be simple enough to verify. The eyes are largely a matter of taste. I didn't test them, as I really really like the regular Dawnguard glowy ones.
