TechAngel85 Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Correct. Third-person only. I also want to make sure that the ones reporting the head turning issues that these options were turned off in the MCM menu. Also, please note that some head turning while standing still is normal. The head turning which this is describing is the irrational turning when nothing is around...such as in an open field outside of Whiterun. WIll update OP with this info.
torminater Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 I'll try to find the time to test this mod some time today... Update: No esp conflicts What do you mean with disable the tracking whilst running option? Do you mean tracking whilst moving? If this is enabled your PC only tracks when standing still, and not even when walking. After disabling the tracking whilst moving feature I didn't have any weird head movements anywhere. From me it gets a go.
z929669 Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 As I don't play thn 3rd person, I don't really have an opinion on this one. It seems like a decent add with tracking-while-moving disabled. I defer to the other admin to approve.
TechAngel85 Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 That's what I meant Torminater. Same results here. It's a go from my end as well.
TechAngel85 Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 After analyzing the poll, only one voter experienced all the issues which leads me to think there was something else going on there besides just this mod. The only real issue I see from the poll is the head turning which can be reduced down to improper settings, as Torminater pointed out changing the settings fixed that issue (which if the OP is read it says to change those settings anyway). The author also provides some solutions if the mod isn't working properly on his Nexus page though I've never had to use them If approved, we might want to add a note saying to skip it if you play in 1st person. For those of us that play in 3rd person, it really adds a level of immersion when your player turns his head to look at the person that is speaking rather than stare straight ahead as if he was being yelled at by a drill sergeant. When packs are introduced later, this could be transferred into a pack of some kind. I also already created the mod page on the wiki for it a long time ago. I'd add some detailed instructions to the page, but I guess only Admins can do that?

I defer to the other admins regarding adding this one. It seems fine to me though.

TechAngel85 Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Can't click that either, Z. Rpsgc, didn't report it in the new poll when he voted though. No one else has reported any issues other than head tracking which is mainly fixed with the proper settings in MCM. Stopping rarely comes in here and Farlo had been MIA for a while.
Kelmych Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 I voted that this mod causes corrupt saves for me, so I wanted to provide more details. Yesterday I began having a very strange problem that any save (full save or quicksave) after roughly 5am on a particular day in Skyrim stopped after writing exactly 1472 Kb, and Skyrim then crashed. It was somewhat reminiscent of the problem with the Waking Nightmare quest bug in Skyrim 1.8 where the game would run fine but Skyrim crashed when trying to save. I tried going different places in Skyrim and sleeping, waiting, or walking just before trying to save but the result was always the same. After a lot of gradually disabling mods I found that disabling Player Headtracking eliminated the problem. With only the STEP mods and Player Headtracking active I still had this problem. I tried using the MCM menu to turn headtracking off, returning to the game, and then using the MCM menu to turn it back on (the author recently suggested this for some other problems) but the problem persists. This is sufficiently weird problem that we might simply might want to add a note that a very small set of users has have had strange unexplainable problems with it, and I certainly never heard of anyone having a similar problem with any mod. Who knows what lurks in my saved game that might have affected this.

This is pretty good evidence that the problem lies with this mod in particular or this mod in conjunction with one or more other STEP mods. It could be partially related to your particular save-game relics, but that is still a problem, IMO. I will stand pretty firmly against this mod, given that there is clearly a problem associated with it.
TechAngel85 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 This has been a long haul for this mod to be accepted or denied. I can only speak from my experience. I've used it almost from day one since I stumbled upon STEP 6 months ago and have never had any issues with it. This would lead me to believe that this mod might cause random issues for an unknown set of modders for unknown reasons. Scanning the mod forums (which I hadn't done in a good while) results in the same issues popping up that I mentioned in the poll. Still, why it works perfectly for some and bugs out for others is a mystery that is probably buried in the scripts somewhere (source code is available if anyone who dares to or knows how to script). The mod authors also seems to be MIA since January of this year when he "fixed several glitches and errors". Since it's not going to be approved I'll probably uninstall it for my personal games to eliminate some scripts and not having to worry about disabling it for testing new STEP mods.
Kelmych Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Perhaps we need a category of "approved, but there are some rare problems". If I were rating the Skyrim engine I would say "approved, but there are frequent poorly-understood problems (in addition to frequent relatively-well-understood problems)". I didn't want my comments to stop approval; it's a strange rare problem and I haven't spent the time to isolate the problem fully (e.g., running only Player headtracking with vanilla). It's been running fine for a long time in my game.
Neovalen Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Approve or not... not gonna stop me from using it. Never had a problem and works great for me. I run all kinds of scripted mods.
TechAngel85 Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 I just uninstalled it and cleaned my games of it according to author's instructions. Then reloaded each save. No issues of corrupt saves. I'd just rather not deal with the constant disabling since I'm going to be testing for STEP.
