iGomoosrsly Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Figured I'd post this here, as it's actually more of an ENB. https://www.nexusmods...im/mods/61826/? I'd like to recommend this ENB / MOD, especially for SR:LE as that's the one I'm currently using. This ENB seems really amazing, and removes the need for CoT and it's compatibility issues. Although this one probably has some of its own, it looks truly stunning and I'd very much like to see it integrated properly. (I'm lazy, and would very much like everything compatibility issue to be solved by someone else, yes, I admit it!) Definitely worth checking out. Description of the mod, by the author: This is a complete visual overhaul of Skyrim (WIP).It comes with completely reworked weathers, newly added weathers, adapted climate templates and a ENB configuration to compliment these changes.I tried to achieve a very balanced, natural look while adding a slight cinematic touch to the whole scene. One major focus is graphical consitency, so that you'll never notice major differences during different weathers/times/landscapes/interiors.This time around I also focused heavily on sunset/dawns and proper weather distribution. Skyrim now has an overall colder feel, snowy regions tend to have brighter days/nights, the throat of the world is now cloud free (you are over the clouds, you will see dense clouds below though) Riften isn't nonstop foggy anymore, nights featuring auroras will be brighter, the auroras will even cast light when on top of the throat of the wolrd etc., you get the idea.To achieve this I've completely reworked the existing weathers to get natural skyboxes, proper ambient colors (which is essential for ENBs skylighting to work properly) and much, much more and added completely new weather types aswell. The ENB preset uses almost all effects at disposal so that you get to enjoy real dynamic 3d sunrays shining through the clouds, dynamic cloud shadows, volumetric mist(almost 1000 handplaced mistanchors), "volumetric" clouds, SSAO/SSIL, soft shadows .etc all tweaked to produce a pleasant and balanced picture during all situations.
rothbardian Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 lol, I just came here to ask if anybody has had some mileage using T.A.Z. to see if its glitchy or has compatibility problems with the STEP install! Anybody else care to chime in?
crime_syndicate Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 It's just an ENB preset with a weather esp, and he has an AOS patch for his esp. Maybe there's gonna be a few conflicts unrelated to AOS but it shouldn't be anything nightmarish...
rothbardian Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Is there any general consensus in the STEP community about what the top 4 or 5 ENB packages are in terms of overall quality (meaning great aesthetics paired with lack of glitches/bugs/rough spots). If not I'd love to hear people's picks. Thanks.
TechAngel85 Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I no particular order, Here is the list on the ENB Guide: https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:ENB#Recommended_ENB_Presets Also Serenity and ELEP that aren't on that list are very good.
rothbardian Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Thanks for the list! Seems T.A.Z. is the only one that rehauls weather? I'm planning to do a clean install and the idea of not having to deal with CoT seems appealing. I also see there's a new Serenity ('extendedFX'). Anybody tried it? STEP compatible? https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/62411/?
TechAngel85 Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Vividian overhauls all weathers. Vividian is, in fact, one of the most complete ENBs available. I think Skylight does as well, but not positive. Any ENB will be compatible with STEP.
rothbardian Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Thanks. I was just checking out Vividian's page -- since it says it supports CoT, does that mean it overwrites Vividian's own weather overhaul? Because I'm not a sophisticated modder or good at debugging, I'm looking/hoping for simplicity and awesomeness. :) https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36067/?
TechAngel85 Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Yes, I don't think you can use the two together. CoT is a nightmare with a large mod list though because it conflicts with everything.
rothbardian Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Got it, thanks. So if one wants to steer clear of CoT but still get the best graphical and weather bang for the buck on a zippy machine, Vividian or T.A.Z. are the best bets? (I don't see anything about weather overhauls on the Skylight page. Serenity ExtendedFX seems like it might but I can't tell for sure.)
Aiyen Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Skylight does not include a custom weather .esp... design choice. I already worked on the CoT weather patch and that is the only requirement if you want a CoT based list. If you want to use vanilla or pure weather there are choices for that as well. Never understood why people think CoT is difficult... in these days with merge scripts all CoT related .esp can be merged at the click of a button and voila. The only thing that might cause a conflict at the end of the day is the regions, which are so easy to patch manually that it should not even be a bother... only sound mods touch that as well. Anyways, this nice preset have just made an .esp to complement its changes and make sure the post processing match nicely together. Vividan goes all the way and tries to support everything in the known modding world.... by again just utilizing that weathers and regions are so easy to merge and manage.
TechAngel85 Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 I was not referring to an ESP to modify weathers. I was referring to custom weathers via ENB. Some ENBs just modify the main enbseries.ini file and call it a day. Others dive more into it by using the per weather settings that are available with ENB by turning on "EnableMultipleWeathers". Was not talking about the Extended Weathers mod from Vividian.
rothbardian Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 (edited) Hey Aiyen, just speaking as a noob, Skylight looks amazing, but merging esp's and patching regions are intimidating. Hence my desire for a one-stop/turnkey way to get the most ENB and weather bang for the buck. Seems like Vividian and T.A.Z. are the two front-runners unless somebody else has another insight. Aiyen Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Even for vividian you "need" to merge eventually. Neovalens guide does a great job of explaining it in detail. There is absolutely nothing to be scared of with merging weathers and regions. It is really as simple as saying "preserve formID´s" and hit the button and it will work. In that regard weathers are one of the most easy things to mod in Skyrim. The reason it is difficult is because of a really clunky interface in the CK with so many settings that you can only edit in really annoying and time consuming ways. As well as the CK preview not being an accurate representation of your changes.. so you always have to go ingame. But by all means try out this preset as well as vividan, both a great pieces of work with a lot of effort and skill put into it, and it shows!
