@rpsgc UDR=UnDeleteRecords (Skyrim likes it's stuff to be there) and ITM=Identical To Masters (which basically means "copies")

@frihyland I played with TES5DUMP a little bit, I understand what it spits out, but after that it might as well be a foreign language. I don't know how all the 4 letter words ;) relate to the records. I mean I understand the data structure, but I don't know what the records do to the game. Not without TES5EDIT anyways. Maybe I just need to work with it more.

Are you sure that's correct?

WB seems to be reporting the following:

  • ACHR
  • DELT
  • NAVM
  • REFR

It also says:

  Quote
This is a report of records that were detected as either Identical To Master (ITM) or a deleted reference (UDR).

Not saying that you're wrong, but this does seem like a broader spectrum.

Ok so WB checks for 2 error types among 4 record types, that's fair. Thanks for the correction. Anyway it will be updated to support most of the records types soon enough.

Edit checks... more, check the UESP for all the different record types and I don't even know all the errors edit is checking for.

Will the new TES5Edit have the capability to fix some of these issues with the mods? I think the old versions did. I'm not sure what the BFSEffects issues are, but that mod author is pretty good at fixing them if you let him know what they are.

I have cleaned all the files with errors using gecko beta 1.0 with no results. Gecko only cleans ITM errors at the moment, when it supports UDR I will try again.

Some of the errors are either human error or data loss from TESVSnip: Burn Freeze Shock Effects, Better Quest Objectives, and Soul Gems Differ fall into this category. These will probably not be fixable by any automated cleaner.

Some of the errors are just minor warnings and can be ignored safely: Live Another Life, More Dynamic Shadows, and iHUD.

The rest are all contain UDR's that should be mostly cleanable by next version of Gecko, some UDR's are more complex than others so it may take a while for Gecko to fully fix all record types.

Here is my results after running STEP through TES5Edit, this test does not check logic, version, or compatibility!  Just that the file itself is a good foundation for those other things.

Don't panic, this is not impending disaster or anything, just that some of these are not good choices for STEP going forward and you should know what we found.  This is generally not the kind of errors that are gonna cause save corruptions (unless more than a couple hundred errors) more likely its sucking performance and stability.  Also on error numbers, be aware that a single problem can cause multiple unique errors.

What we are dealing with at the base of Jenga pile.  Seems like a lot at first glance, but considering there have probably been upwards of a million edits each by dozens of developers using dozens of different CK versions its actually not too bad.

Vanilla-You have to use these :P

Really glad you was able to check this. SOme of the worst offenders were already in my "to-remove" list, i somehow sensed they were offenders :P

I got tons of suggestions for STEP 2.3 and the new scenario we will have with new tools like Gecko and tes5edit is enthrilling indeed ;)

EDIT: also, what is the "step" esp file? O.o

So whats the deal with BFSEffects? With that many structural errors my only thought is he might have used TESVSnip? I'd like to give the author a chance to fix it but I don't know what the problem is to ask him.

Upon a quick look in the CK, it loaded fine with no warning/errors. Did you try re-saving in the CK then checking if the errors went away? I'd check myself but I do not have the tool.

Awesome work, love this mod. Endorsed.

I just checked this mod with TESdump (command line ver of TES5Edit) and it shows a few errors you should know about.

Smile when you see a foot long page of UDRs that the spoiler tag doesn't hide in the Comments of the mod.

You have to look at it through the forums, not the download site. It can't handle even the slightest formatting, so stupid.  Looks gorgeous on the forum.
