AddictedxGamer Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 (edited) Living Takes Time by Akezhar looks like an awesome mod! It was reviewed today by Brodual on YouTube, and I've gone ahead and added it to my list of desired mods. I love the concept of time actually passing when my character does things in-game that would actually take time, such as crafting items, cooking food, or reading a book. What do you guys think of it? I'd love to see it added to STEP. Edited September 8, 2014 by ADD1CTED_GAM3R
EssArrBee Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 This is a good idea. I just added a similar mod to my Fallout new Vegas playthrough that does something like this. It really helps, especially with hardcore needs type mods so you still get hungry and thirsty when you spend half an hour crafting iron daggers.

I never thought of how it would factor into those types of mods, but now that you mentioned it, I like this mod even more! I've always thought that it was unrealistic that after doing a ton of crafting, my character hadn't worked up an appetite.
Whitra01 Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 When it's coupled with something like Realistic Needs and Diseases or iNeed it provides a nice brake on crafting. Spamming potions or crafting a full suit of armor will take long enough to cause iNeed's sleep penalty to kick in and slow down experience gain, which I find to be a really nice touch. It's also possible to restrict the looting, inventory, etc. screens while in combat, which is something I can't play without now. It's a great gameplay moment when I'm forced to run away from a fight and leave loot behind, especially when combined with Loot and Degradation. In short, the mod synergizes with a lot of other immersion mods. I did find that it takes a lot of tweaking to get all the time settings right, and it will often take awhile for the mod to register when combat is over, but these are both tolerable trade offs. 1

An excellent summary of why this mod is awesome.
phosphor Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 I've been using Professions by Kuertee for some time now. I enjoy it for its sense of immersion like Addicted mentioned. I wanted to try this one out but it was lacking 'skinning takes time' which I would miss.
gpthree Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 The thing I like about Professions is you can set activities to have a range of time instead of one set time. I dont see a reason why you cant use both of these mods at the same time though if you disable overlapping timesinks.

Glanzer Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Hunterborn's skinning system does a good job of this. The first time you skin it takes an hour or two I think and the skins are poor or worthless. But as you get better and craft better hunting knives it only takes about 10 minutes.

I've never played a character that does a lot of hunting or skinning, but I do think the concept behind the mod is awesome.
Glanzer Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I tried Living Takes Time and had no problems with it.
