If you're a fan of Somber ENB, you really owe it to yourself to checkout Somber 3.0.  I installed it last night and I almost cried as the beauty that the land of Skyrim became.  It's dark, so bring your torches and candlelight, but gawd is it beautiful.

Here's the link

Yeah, it's also very taxing on the hardware...you've been warned.

It's very nice but a performance killer to those who can't afford its favors. I'm using Serenity Extreme Performance Preset and am very happy with the compromises.

Would not call it dark... since it does use rather low contrasts to keep the look. But a nice take on a cinematic style.

Performance is tweakable... the performance heavy settings (Not disable effects, but lowering their quality) are not style critical unless you really go pixel hunting, and do compare shots etc.

Yeah, I ran it up last night, it really is to my liking but out of the box, I grind down to 17 FPS average which is outside of my gameplay comfort zone. I'm fine with 25+ FPS as long as it's smooth, consistent and no jitters.

Serenity Extreme Performance gives me that FPS range plus the ability to swap styles out if the mood hits me. Using 01 Sepia Toned atm)

Wow. That is very nice indeed. It drops my FPS from 61 to 35, but nice nevertheless. It even works with night-eye spells which I wasn't expecting.

Decisions, decisions ...

I used to be an absolute SOMBER fanatic, then one day I got tired of the color palette it was using, very sepia & warm and switched over to Seasons ENB which has super performance and is much bluer and cool.

So does this NEW Somber use the same color palette?

yeah, same trademark palette. And you are right, Seasons of Skyrim is awesome and I had great performance but it wasn't updated to the latest binaries so I moved onto Serenity.

It is easy to get fatigued when using one ENB style for a long time, that's why I like Serenity because I can easily change out the look with up to 9 schemes that all look different.

Serenity uses ELFX, no problems with RL?

I will give it a try tonight.  Nice that it usually the same set of recommended mods as Seasons so trying it out is easy.

I've no problems whatsoever with the new ENB and Seasons.

I found (by RTFM) that my darkness was caused by ELFX and CoT - which this Somber doesn't support. (Maybe none of them did?)  I removed those mods (and all their patches) and the brightness became very playable.

However, the framerate - as Kuldebar and I mentioned - coupled with the very heavy DoF really make it unplayable long-term for me.  I'll will be keeping it for screenshots and Hodilton-type videos because it does create a very beautiful world.

I've been using Project ENB for my playthrough and I maintain decent framerates (mid 40s+).  I've not tried Serentiy or Skylight.  I'll give them both a look tonight.

Am I the only one looking for a happy medium - something with the cinematic feel of Somber but with the performance of Seasons of Skyrim/Phinix ENB/Project ENB?

Skylight. Nothing at all like this though.

Just had a look. Elenear has uploaded some impressive screenshots showcasing your work, perhaps one day I'll be able to try it myself! Congrats for your excellent, beautiful work!

Well the screenshots are nothing like it looks now.. most are from v.4.0 and before! In fact I think there is only 2 v5.0 screenshots up atm

I need to get better at making a pretty showcasing for my work..

Anyways this is not the thread for that if anyone have anything further on that then post it over at the skylight thead!
