Requiem Pack (WIP)

I have a question regarding the delevelling of leveled lists that was mentioned earlier.

I am no expert but from reading and testing this is how I understand it (and please correct me if I am wrong):For example there is a list called "LItemWeaponSword" (https://i.imgur.com/Mmmyqej.png)Any character that is configured to use this list gets assigned an item from this list. As you can see there are a lot of of mods which change this list and they overwrite each other meaning only the list from the last mod gets used (Lore Weapon Expansion in my case if you ignore the Bashed Patch for the moment) and I wouldn't see items from the mods before on NPCs. That's where the Bashed Patch comes in: It combines all entries from a leveled list into one and since it is loaded last there is a chance for each item to get distributed to a spawning NPC. So far so good. Each entry has a level attached to it which means that only NPCs at least this level have a chance to get this item. "Ebony Sword" in this example requires the NPC to be at least level 36.In Vanilla Skyrim this works since NPCs level with your character and as a result have a chance to receive better equipment to match your progression. In Requiem NPCs are deleveled meaning they always stay the same level. So that Bandit Boss stays let's say level 35 wether you visit his hideout at level 1 or level 50. Being level 35 he would never be eligible for that Ebony Sword though (minimum level 36). Now if you delevel the leveled list each Item can be distributed to lvl 1 and above NPCs.So our bandit boss can finally hope to spawn with the ebony sword (although with a low chance: there are about 40 entries for "iron"-tier weapons another 40 or so for steel etc. vs 1 for ebony)One problem with deleveling as I see it though is the fact that even low level NPCs have a chance to spawn with a high level weapon. The Requiem version of this leveled list had "elven" as the highest category. CCO & Lore Weapon expansion add up to "daedric".How should I handle this? Do I manually change the bashed patch and remove higher tier gear than intended by the Requiem leveled list but leave additions from other mods in? Should I just not delevel my bashed patch if I am worried about this? Thanks in advance.

Higher leveled gear is available to lower level NPCs but it is much rarer. Best not to use a bashed patch if you use Azirok's patches other then to merge mods and certainly not to merge names and stats. If weapon / Armor mods use the correct names for their entries then Requiem will naturally sort their stats, but it is worth checking and making corrections in a Requiem Conflict patch of some sort. I very much recommend doing this if you know your way around TES5Edit but a bashed patch is a no no.

Just looked at your load order and Requiem needs to load after any and all weapon mods. You may need to make a patch for lore weapons. I have just downloaded 1.3 which is not fully compatible with DSR yet but I will have a look at it's stats and it's compatibility with Requiem. Requiem does not change the values of weapons like SkyRe does it multiplies them so all weapons have their vanilla stats x 4 (adjustable in the MCM) a similar approach works for armors which is why Requiem.esp needs to load later than all weapon and armor mods.

The idea behind a de-leveled world as in Requiem is not to assume that every bandit, warrior, creature in the game started their time in Skyrim at the same time you did. Some will have been around longer, accumulated more gear and trained longer than you have, but few have the potential of the Dragonborn who will eventually surpass them, but will still find difficult boss level enemies, Dragons and high level mobs but will otherwise become the most powerful being in Skyrim, which is generally what happens in most RPGs. The way leveling works is that you will have completed the whole game by then. Dawnguard should not be started till level 30 (which is when you will be approached) vampires are just too damn tough. Dragonborn will challenge 40+ level players. So it all balances out in the end. Though it could be done better and will be in next version.

You could de-level your bashed patch but Azirok is quite adamant that these should not be used. He is working in tandem with Ogreboss on Requiem 1.8 which is imminent and many of these potential issues have been addressed including boosting the AI of various combatants instead of just boosting their health which is definitely the right way to go about increasing difficulty.

Anyway I hope this helps and if I have oversimplified in any way no slight was intended but lordy I am tired, phew what a week.

EDIT: Having looked at Lore Weapon Expansion, it will require a patch for the leveled lists only, but there is a lot of them sigh. May give this a go at some point though not today. Of course a bashed patch would merge those lists and should help but Stats and names should not be ticked.

Well I have Step Extended and REGS up, working and stable. Even managed to get RS Children working properly with it all.

Now to sleep on it some before I start on the Requiem install...

Well, it's alive. :) In as much as it doesn't CTD and all looks good so far. :)

And it's definitely harder. Just got my level 2 butt handed to me by the Skellys in Whiterun's Hall of the Dead. Ouchies. :)

So here's me in Ogmund's Tomb, which is a REGS addon, as a new character in a Requiem playthrough.

I come across a group of bandits. No worries, says I, I'll just fly on into them steel swinging and shield bashing...

Of course that doesn't work as there's one in steel armour with a magic hammer and he hands me my ass. It's THEN I remember that I'm playing Requiem and I actually have to out THINK foes now rather than run the superior firepower route.

All good, I pull out the bow and start using the oil soaked floors and the lanterns to make the bandits nice and crispy. Win I says as I pinch that nice steel armour and hammer. Until I get to a Draugr who can shout... And again I get handed my ass.

Man I wish I'd done REGS and Requiem earlier. Now even the early levels are a challenge. Having a great time.

That's the spirit, eventually you will become an uber mensch, but not till you've completed Dragonborn circa level 45+. I completely got my ass handed to me in the Temple of Black Rock and I was using a cheated super character to test without having to try to hard. That place in monstrous.

@Smile44: Stop telling people to not use a bashed patch. You're wrong.

Azirok has never recommended against bashed patches. However, he has recommended deleveling the leveled lists merged in the bashed patch.

To everyone else, bashed patches that merge the leveled lists are always necessary if you have ANY mods that add items, spells, or NPCs to the game world. Just because you have some number of Azirok's patches doesn't mean you can forgo the need to merge the leveled lists.

I thought we already went over this...

Aziorok does not use a bashed patch as he has his leveled lists sorted how he wants them - this is something that he has stated quite clearly in his posts, of course if you use mods that he has not patched then you will need to use a bashed patch. I don't use one except for merging mods but instead build a conflict patch that sorts the lists as I want them something that a bashed patch does not always get right. Time consuming but worth it.

If only the world was black and white and all arguments were so simple, even imagined ones.

That's not synonymous with recommending against bashed patches.

They are simple! I'm right and you're wrong, except if I admit I'm wrong and that wouldn't necessarily mean you're right.  ::D:

How marvelous it is to be untroubled by doubt. Apparently there can be only one valid point of view, and of course the world is flat, the sun goes round the Earth and God is an omnipresent old guy with a beard.

Go figure,

Dude if there was only one opinion then we would never have come down from the trees in the first place. This is getting a tad boring, I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person. Doesn't seem fair.

If you insist on hijacking this thread to promote your own ego then bully for you, have at it sunshine. I will leave you to it.

1.8 is out soon (this week) and will require a few changes, not to mention all the stuff that Azirok has lined up with merged mods for packs and conflict resolution guides which will naturally lead to an update of this pack.

But you never know the Lord God Almighty might decide to make a pack and save me the trouble.

Damn and I said I was going to leave it alone. Definitely mean it this time.
