Glanzer Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I came here to post about the new DLL and already there are 8 pages of posts about it. LOL FWIW I played for about an hour last night with the updated DLL (sheson's version) and had no problems. But I don't usually have problems until I've played an hour or two.
yuser Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Sorry for maybe stupid questions and my English. How this DLL corresponds with Steam? Do i need to run steam? Can it work without steam? I'm using Mod Organizer and running skse_loader.exe through it, will skse_steam_loader.dll loading with this settings? I copied DLL, built by Neovalen (https://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=4646&pid=63840#pid63840), but I can't find skse_steam_loader.log anywhere (just searched it through all disks). And i'm not sure if it working.
karios525 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 yuser Check you're documents/mygames/skyrim/skse folder
alexbeugelsdijk Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Can someone recommend a utility I can use to view total system memory usage while in game?
z929669 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 So going with the updated dll so we can alter mem blocks via skse ini the ini should look like this? [General]ClearInvalidRegistrations=1 [Memory]Enable=1MemBlock1=512MemBlock2=256 Or is the GiveFirstBornToSheson=1 line still needed? Also include the following to generate minidumps in your SKSE logs directory if/when you crash (see OP):[Debug] WriteMinidumps=1Neo' date=' could you share your source code? When I use your dll with 1024/1024 blocks' date=' I get immediate CTD, but when I use my self-made, it works... I compile it with msvc 2013.[/quote'']I also used Neo's version (see prev post), but I have a version created by sheson (attached) ... please give that one a try as well. Should be the same but with different INI triggers. If Neo applied something unique, then my testing in prev post may have been specific to his version ... Lastly, 1024 blocks is for testing only I hope, because that far exceeds the amount required (again, see actuall block allocation from my prev post)smp3.zip
Slochy Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I copied DLL' date=' built by Neovalen (https://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=4646&pid=63840#pid63840), but I can't find skse_steam_loader.log anywhere (just searched it through all disks). And i'm not sure if it working.[/quote']Same here, can't seem to get it working using Mod Organizer's SKSE shortcut. At least that's what I think because there's no skse_steam_loader.log anywhere to be found. Hmm! edit: nvm. I remembered having tinkered with the tesv.exe. Put the default one back in and it's fine now.
DoYouEvenModBro Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Neo, did you remove Safety Load in SR:L because of this? Are you going to add a section on this mod? I've read through this thread and am now very confused as to which file is the right one/most updated to download and which, if any, skse tweaks to make :-(. This thread flows too quickly for me to follow. I also feel bad asking for help all the time in here. Neo, if you aren't too busy, could you pm me with ssome assistance? If not, it's ok. Thanks.
Ogham Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Yes, Safety Load was removed in favour of the Memory Load. Actually, (but you all want Neo verify is my guess) I think SR-LE is up to date in that regard... Click on the Skyrim Memory Patch link in the SR-LE guide to download the DLL file and follow the instructions as provided by the guide.

My source is simply that posted on the enbdev forum by Daetarek with the ini names changed. VS2010 Pro SP1. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
sheson Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I updated my OP on ENB about how to find a good value. I am sure OP in this thread will have update soon. mod please update. :) You should be able to set the first block to any MB number you like. I see no reason it has to be in certain steps, though I am not 100% certain. Feedback would be nice about success/failure in that regard. Just make sure it is enough to never be filled 100% to avoid skyrim allocating additional blocks for the data that usually goes into the first block. There is really no use over allocating. If your setup only needs 300MB for that block there is no use reserving much more. In fact it would mean other processes and parts of skyrim can not use it for something else. That would be bad.

Steps corresponding to standard KB blocks need not be used. I believe that this will work fine in 4 KB increments ... even 2 works, since we are ultimately dealing with bits (also see my previous post on this)Just make sure it is enough to never be filled 100% to avoid skyrim allocating additional blocks for the data that usually goes into the first block. DoYouEvenModBro Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Thank you all for your patience with me. NEO, thank you especially for your quick replies and helpful answers. One thing I love about your Skyrim Revisited Guide is the level of clarity and methodological descriptiveness for not only experienced modders, but less experienced ones such as myself. This is NOT a jab at the S.T.E.P. authors in any way, but sometimes I feel that Skyrim Revisited is written better and more clearly than S.T.E.P. is. I hope that NEO helps out with the language in the S.T.E.P. guide or could act as an assistant editor. Again, this is not a jab at S.T.E.P. in any way. Both guides are great and I use both equally. Anyway.....I have gone way off topic and I will refrain from posting here again unless it is relevant to the guide. Again, thank you to NEO, the S.T.E.P. authors and the Guide users who have continuously answered my questions! :-D.
Aiyen Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 I believe once more testing have been done we can go over the OP with updated info etc... in turn I see this getting its own wiki page at the current rate, since so far nobody have reported exploding cases, or graphics corruption or even the odd CTD (when setup correctly).
z929669 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 STEP 2.2.8 release should be more clear and simple to follow ;)
Nearox Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Might make my return to modding because of this. As some have mentioned in the thread, it only works for Steam users. For those without Steam, a solution has been proposed recently here https://enbseries.enbdev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=45776#p45776 It works on my PC in combination with Neovalen's last skse_steam_loader.dll. You can find the compiled file here if you need it: https://speedy.sh/6qTvn/skse-loader.7z (click the black filename text at the top to download, don't use the other links on the page).Â
