frihyland
Discussion thread: Shadow Striping Fix by forum42087 Wiki Link Back online on the Nexus and currently recommended instead of More Dynamic Shadows and Striping Fixed until it is cleaned or remade. TheCompiler
I'm considering readding this fix, but need your ideas. I've discovered some very annoying bugs More Dynamic Shadows is causing and i'm willing to remove it from the ENB section (it's included in Project ENB). Do you think this fix is still necessary? Neovalen
Showing as file hidden right now, but I agree with you TC. More Dynamic Shadows causes me all kinds of grief in certain scenes... might be worth revisiting once it's been fully updated for realistic lighting 4 but its kind of a mess right now. I use ENB to smooth out my shadows, so haven't had need of an actual fix... so sorry I can't help you there. However, there are several other mods out there that modify lighting to fix bugs like this.
frihyland
It's no longer available or I would suggest it as an alternate for people that don't use ENB. If you use ENB its not necessary at all.
TheCompiler
Fri you're right, with ENB shadow striping isn't an issue anymore, so the fix isn't needed. (assuming ppl will use ENB). Anyway, i'm really sorry that More DYnamic SHadows is so buggy, i'm forced to remove it from the ENB pack, and maybe will replace it with Whiterun lighing fix. JudgmentJay
Actually I discovered that Whiterun Lighting Fix is unnecessary if you just do the following .ini tweak: In Skyrim.ini, under [General], add fFlickeringLightDistance=8192. Completely eliminated the light popping for me.
Besidilo
Is it just me, or the file is hidden again? Nexus annoys me a great deal lately.
Neovalen
It's hidden.
Kelmych
While it was briefly up I looked at the comments and there were some problems with it.
torminater
hmm, well it seems as if ENB is the only thing that can somewhat fix shadows. BUT I still have striped shadows on actors and almost everywhere actually. It's like a pencil hatching on the textures themselves. Is there any known fix to this? Neovalen
I'm really interesting in maybe testing some of the other "light sources give off light" style mods such as: Lighting Placement Fix - This one appears to be fairly large and consistently updated.Whiterun Gate Light Fix - Just fixes one very obvious light problem just outside whiterun. (may be included in the above haven't checked)Volrath Dragonrach Brazier fix - This fixes the braziers in dragonsreach. (included in the lighting placement fix already) I haven't extensively tested the Lighting Placement fix but posting it here as a possible replacement for MDS. JudgmentJay
Lighting Placement Fix has issues due to the game's limitation on number of dynamic light sources. One good example is Markarth. There are too many light sources so as you pan your camera around you'll see lights turning on and off. I also noticed this happening in Dragonsreach. Unfortunate because it's a really great mod. JudgmentJay
Yeah, he did improve Markarth a significant amount, but it's still there.
Neovalen
Damn it Bethesda, why do you torture us with this ages old engine! Really hope when ES:VI comes out that they have actually built an engine from the ground up.
