Question

Posted

Figured it might not be a bad idea to just start a general SR support thread for help since the feedback thread is focused on actual SR feedback. I'll start this off.

So was playing earlier today, then went and made today's latest changes:

- Updated Lanterns of Skyrim to use Realistic Lighting Overhaul optional preset.

- Added SkyTEST - Realistic Animals and Predators. Removed More Village Animals and Roosters At Dawn

- Updated Apahii Skyhair Natural Retexture.

I also added Grass on Steroids and it's associated INI changes.

I now CTD every time on the menu load. I reversed the INI changes, unloaded SkyTest and Grass on Steroids and still CTD.

What would be the first steps I should in debugging this?

Thanks!

No - rename.

MO is telling you that there is a mod with the same description as what you are about to install (usually an optional download of a mod). Rename and choose a new name (such as ELFX, ELXF - DG and ELFX - DB).

alright, so for example the mod better males has two main files, a face and a body. so you have to create two mods, a "male - face" and a "male - body"?

I very much enjoy the guide - but that's no reason not to nitpick. :;):

[Nitpick Alert]

1. Typos:

a) Vividian ENB

Using windows explorer, copy EED_verasansmono.bmp from VividianTemp/Vividian ENB/Main Files to <ENB Manager and Changer Path>/ENB Configs/Vividian ENB 5.10 manually.

Should be "Vividian ENB 5.20" instead of ""Vividian ENB 5.10"

b) Unofficial Patches

It's not the

"Unofficial Hearthfires Patch.esp" but the "Unofficial Hearthfire Patch.esp" without the "s" [that should be there].

Unofficial Hearthfire Patch

Author: Unofficial Patch Project Team
Version: 2.0.3
Special Installation: Do not install the following file(s) and/or folder(s):

  • Docs folder
  • Unofficial Hearthfire Patch.bsl

Overrides: Unofficial Skyrim Patch

BOSS Masterlist Update Required: (Updating Guide)

  • OVERRIDE Unofficial Hearthfires Patch.esp AFTER Hearthfires.esm

2. The compatibility patches from "Enhanced Lights and FX" versus "Realistic Room Rental Enhanced"

Any reason why the "RRR_ELFX Patch" is preferable to the "ELFX - No Taverns.esp"?

If there is one, a reference that explicitly states to not use the later one (or earlier one within your mod installation list) might be helpful. I know, you already NOT include it in your installation advice, so it's not really an issue [still nitpicking, mind you].

3. Static Mesh Improvement Mod
I'm sure it's my "1.61 + 1.63 update" configuration, but I don't have the bad path for the "tundradriftwood01.nif".

4. aMidianBorn Book of Silence

The last paragraph advises the player to "rename textures/actors/dlc02/ash folder to textures/actors/dlc02/ashman." It's not clear at that point whether you still refer to the previously and later discussed "Content AddOn" or the "Dragonborn DLC."

IIRC, the RRR_ELFX Patch applies ELFX lighting to the taverns, while ELFX - No Taverns just disables all ELFX changes to the inns (so you end up with vanilla lighting there)

Either way, Perseid recommends using her patch on the mod page.

Yeah, I have read that too - I just wasn't sure that this is all there is. But since the guide's recommendation is perfectly clear, it's definitely not an issue. I was mostly just curious.

And while we are speaking of Perseid's recommendations,

-Reworked the room rental system,The default mode works exactly the same as in vanilla game, bed-only one-day stay, with configurable local inn cost; The optional “enhanced mode†adds extended stay option, safe-storage containers, pay for followers, etc.. The enhanced mode contains silent dialogues, and requires Fuz Ro D-oh to function properly. If silent dialogues are not acceptable in your game, simply let the mod run in default mode.

I included Fuz Ro D-oh to follow her advice. Is it simply an oversight in the guide or is there a reason to exclude it?

Off topic:

CJ2311, why did you feel the urge to (co)write the Explorer's Guide [shakes fist]? I was almost done setting up SRLE and was looking forward to, well, actually play the game. And now ... Damn you!

And thank you - REGS is right up my alley.

Why, for money and glory, of course ::P:

You might want to take a look at the merge script for TES5Edit if you're going to run SRLE with REGS though, I'm pretty sure the limit of plugins has been reached with that combo.

Thanks, will do. I haven't done so much patching since the heyday of Fallout. Wait a minute .. this is .. It's a trap!

Working my way through the guuide, i found (until now) these two points:

1) The ELFX patch from "Project Parallex Remasterd" is pulled from the nexus.

2) By the "aMidianborn book of silence content addon" you have to remove the Improved Closefaced Helmets Version folder. In the next line the say you have to use the .esp from the said folder. I was a bit confusing, maybe this could be better explained, or im i reading it wrong?

(I'm dutch, don't watch the grammer ;))

(..)

Anyone who dismisses ELFX' exterior plugin (raises hand), isn't affected anyway. :)

Does anyone have the problem where you can't end the Message to Whiterun quest because Quentin Cipius doesn't give the dialog to end it and instead just says random Imperial lines? Using setstage cw03 210 to end the quest and setstage cwsiegeobj 1 to start Battle for Whiterun doesn't do anything, I cannot get Battle for Whiterun to start at all. I've gone through Google page after page and nothing comes up saying of a way to that works to fix this.

Just had a question of clarification on the Vividian ENB installation.

On the "Files" pane, click [Add]. Navigate to VividianTemp/Vividian ENB/Main Files, select all contents in the folder except enblocal.ini, EED_verasansmono.bmp, and the Data folder then click [Add]

There is no Data folder in the archive. Is this referring to the enbseries folder?

The folder structure with Vividian changed a couple of minor releases ago. You do need the enbseries folder but can safely ignore the instruction about the data folder for the moment.

Thanks! I assumed so, but wanted to make sure.

Everything is working great, except for one thing. As you can see the Tree textures look terrible, and are 2d. Also the LODs look bad also.

At first I thought it was SFO, but I  uninstalled it and that didn't seem to work.

Can anyone help? :/

I've installed SR:LE in the right order (as ordered ;)), but now mod organizer keeps suggesting a different mod order. I really hate when that warning sign glows, so i'm inclined to follow the advise. Will this do me any good, or should i keep the mod order pristine?
