ShmooZ
That's what I started off doing, but I found that the other features of the snow shader were still enabled in the inis and seemed to cause problems with LOD generation for my mountains. I could disable them temporarily and then renable...have not tried that yet. I might be able to renable most of them with a more traditional approach to mountain textures. But snow rim lighting and sparkle seem to look bad no matter I do. Not sure about AO on snow. I'm mostly using Fluffy Snow and NVT Obsidian for now. The projected textures might not hurt to remain at default settings. Also will be attempting 3D LODs with EVT LE with ported esp, but that's DynDOLOD. Been averaging a fresh install every week until I can get everything right.

LOD generation just uses the textures from the load order as is, unless you use xLODGen settings to change brightness etc. The only important INI setting is the sResourceArchiveList that points to the Meshes BSA which contains the lodsettings files which are needed to fill the worldspaces list for example. Object LOD mountains make use of LOD snow/ash shaders, which are applied in the game. The snow/ash shaders are not changed by xLODGen/DynDOLOD. tyrindor
I've messed my settings up while testing something and nothing I try allows me to revert to default settings. I've looked everywhere for a settings file to delete, reinstalled the program to a different directory, etc. Help? :(

ShmooZ
Thank you for the info, running out of firstborns over here! :P I put snow shader settings to default. I guess it's however the mountain and snow mods mix up with the projected diffuse and snow rim lighting. I ended up just doing pre-generated landscape LOD + DynDOLOD + EVT LE 3D LODs. Pretty good results here: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/images/26666 What is the best way to increase view distance of landscape and grass? TerrainManager fSplitDistanceMult= in SkyrimPrefs.ini?

TerrainManager fSplitDistanceMult= in SkyrimPrefs.ini?Grass can only render in loaded cells. fSplitDistanceMult multiplies the object LOD level distances (fBlockLevel0Distance, fBlockLevel01istance, fBlockLevel0Distance, fBlockMaximumDistance) and applies it to the terrain LOD levels. So multiplier > 1.0, terrain LOD switches to next LOD level further away than object LOD.
Zanderat
So, reran XLODGen default w/ baked normals and reinstalled. The problem is back. Here is the location data. (Should I report in the xLODGen thread?)Yes, lets continue here in the xLODGen thread. Can you check if you have any plugins that overwrite any cells 4,24 to 7,27? When you open tamriel.4.4.24.btr or adjacent ones in nifskope, can you see that the water planes are elevated? Zanderat
Turned up one possible culprit. https://www.dropbox.com/s/0lxv8autyx6n90s/New%20Bitmap%20Image%20%282%29.jpg?dl=0 Can it be fixed or should I rerun with the offending mod (3DNCP.esp) excluded? Or maybe just delete the .btr file in question? Sorry, no nifskope here. But I can get it and try. Edited June 25, 2018 by Zanderat
Zanderat
Can't edit above. I will rerun with Interesting NPCs excluded and see what happens.
Zanderat
Testing still points to xLODGen. Even though 3DNPC.esp does alter the area in question, rerunning xLODGen and excluding 3DNPC.esp still shows the error. I also tried disabling it altogether from load order and the error still happened. So most likely a coincidence. I don't have nifskope (nor experience using it), so most likely I have checked everything that I can on my end. It would have to be from a cell in the Tamriel worldspace with the X,Y coordinates you are seeing the problem in. Get latest nifskope from here https://github.com/niftools/nifskope/releases Testing still points to xLODGen. I appreciate your help trying to troubleshoot it.Verify with nifskope if the BTR shows elevated water planes so we know it is indeed terrain LOD. Try to find the plugin that is modifying the cell so I can reproduce and see what and why it happens.Generate the terrain LOD for vanilla to verify all works fine without mods so we know a plugin is causing it. Zanderat
I think this shows what you are looking for. First is 4.4.24, the second is 4.4.28. To test vanilla LOD, is there a switch or command I can use in xLODGen, so I don't have to uninstall everything? Thanks!
