I've noticed a fair few messed up textures on weapons after completing the installation. This happened the last time I tried to use the weapon enhancement pack and I have no idea what to do to fix it.

In the attached file you can see Sunny Smiles' Varmint Rifle with the wood texture wrapped around the barrel and the mechanism on the stock.

I've noticed it on a few other ones too.

Except I haven't used the NV one.

As far as weapons are concerned I've stuck to the basic Fear and Loathing guide. After checking the nexus installation instructions for WRP it says:

"Remember to disable and re-enable archive invalidation after installing this - you might experience problems otherwise!"

I'm just wondering if that may be it.

Right, seems like it's not having any effect.

I followed these instructions someone left on the WRP page:

THESE ARE THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR EVERYONE WHO HAS THEIR TEXTURES ON WEAPONS ALL MESSED UP

Like many of you, I use Weapons Mod Expanded aka WMX and also wanted to use these amazing textures by Millenia but I just couldn't make them work properly even when reading the instructions as described on the link provided in the description page, I kept finding weapons looking strange like the .357 amongst others. I realized that when you download the compatibility patch between WMX and WRP there is readme file included where the correct steps for the instalation are written. Easy to miss for those people like me just eager to download and play. The thing is, besides the patch and this mod, you need to download OTHER files SEPARATELY.

Here I paste the instructions:

You'll need to download and install all these retex packages by Millenia, Nexus Mod Manager highly recommended:

1--- WRP v1.95 (https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/38285)(Which is the first file here in this very page you find yourself in)

2--- .357 Revolver Re-Retextured v1.2 (https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/47714)

3--- 12.7mm SMG v1.0 (https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/38285)(which is the second file here in this page)

4--- Bozar retexture v1.1 (https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/56477)

5--- Single Shotgun Re-Retexture v1.0 (https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/48049)

6--- Now there will be 2 new .esp files in your load order which are 357retex.esp and singleshot_retex.esp and they OUGHT to be deactivated in your load order and deleted (from your \Steam\steamapps\common\fallout new vegas\data\ directory); their changes have been rolled into WMX-ArenovalisTextures. If they're loaded at the same time as WMX-ArenovalisTextures, they may cause problems (depending on the plugin in question).

7--- Install WMX-WRP automatically via NMM, which is the compatibility patch between WMX and the textures from Millenia (https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/39651/?) (Third file under Optional Files)

8--- In NMM place a tick in the box next to WMX-ArenovalisTextures.esp to activate it.

9--- Ensure that WMX-ArenovalisTextures.esp is loading *after* WeaponModsExpanded.esp (below it in your load order, in other words).

10--- In NMM make sure you deactivate Archive Invalidation and then activate it again (you can find that in the tools icon).

There you go, I followed those install instructions and now both mods are working 100% correctly. I Hope this makes it more clear for the people having issues and for the first timers.

Unfortunately, it seems, I'm just getting no joy out of this. This was the very issue that compelled me to give Fear and Loathing a shot in the first place as this happened the last time I tried Millennia's retextures and I wondered if it was some issue with NMM or the guide I had been following being out of date.

I will reiterate. I am not using WEP NV at all. Never even downloaded it.

Only the "Weapon Animation Replacers" mod and the 357 Revolver Retextured" mods overwrite wrp and I don't see how they are the ones causing this.

Ok. Turns out I'm a moron.

There were a few mods I added on after completing the guide that I didn't think would clash with anything. Turns out I was wrong as one of them contained a load of weapon meshes, which was screwing with WRP. Strangely enough it didn't show up as a conflict in WRP which was why I didn't notice it. Very weird.

Anyway, simply copying the files over to replace the ones in that mod fixed the clashes.

@hazelwolf

I just noticed you asked if there may be a problem with the guide and the latest version of NMM. Yes, most definitely. All the STEP hosted guides, including F&LNV, use MO as the manager of choice since it doesn't overwrite any files during installation of mods.

If you actually meant to say MO then continue on regardless but otherwise your entire install will need to checked very thoroughly to make sure the correct files are winning the conflicts.

Sorry for the late response. I should clarify.

I was initially using NMM for my rather basic New Vegas mod loadout until I started hitting issues whereupon I decided to head back to good ol' step-project to set me right with a properly formulated guide.

Turns out one of the issues was still dogging me, but that was down to my inclusion of the mod Precision Ballistics and Munitions https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/50757/? which also includes vanilla meshes that overwrite those provided by WEP.

In other words: not the guide's problem, just my own dumb ass.
