I'm not sure how much people actually like Texture replacers here, but I think this face Replacer for Women is a definite look at.

Nuska finally bellied up and released some Face Texture Mods, which I think is pretty damn good for Skyrim, Not beautiful, but just tough enough to fit the faces. Though I am going to guess that this is not what STEP is looking for right?

Eh, I'm not as fond of the male one as Nuska's. MacKom's has a lot of the fine detail (mainly wrinkles) taken away, and while they're definitely not glamoured up, I think they could be a bit more "rugged". Will have to check in-game.

This was updated on 12/22, so not sure how it's dead in the water.

It would be nice to have similar for male characters, but I really like what he's done for the females.

She basically says at the bottom of the description that she is finished with this and won't be doing males.

If all races of males will also be handled in the same manner by someone else (in the same quality), then it might be worth it (as long as the models can still produce the same as vanilla ... the female screens all have good skin, but I don't like the models they are wrapped over).

Nuska is a girl dude.

my bad, thanks for the correction.

I hate when I do that, but it's annoying to rephrase sentences so that you're always using gender-neutral words.

What about this one?

High Res Face Maps for Men by Geonox

Again based on screenshots, that looks promising. I like the detailed version. I don't have much time to check these out in game, but both mods are worth checking out. Anyone up for doing some analysis?.

I'm not worried about no more updates in the case of Nuska's mod as we are still using some mods that over 6 months old (and older). As long as they look good and fit STEP, it should be a no brainer.

Agree as long as the same changes apply to all genders in game. Otherwise, this is imbalanced and I would vote to wait for a mod that addresses everything.

Updates to texture mods are not important; however, it is important that a texture mod addresses everything that applies in a consistent fashion IMO.

I agree to a certain extent. But when history reveals that a single mod doesn't cover everything I believe that exceptions can be justified, otherwise you can end up waiting forever and never benefit.

I recommend this texture replacer - visually it fits in with the games overall look & enhances texture quality without adding any supermodel like appearances that doesn't fit in with the game. It also has an option for just about every body replacer though from my own experience the Nuska UNP navetsea face doesn't match with the UNP Navetsea body textures.

How I use this replacer & others to create a balanced variety in the appearance of skyrim characters-

1 Install Better Beast Races

2 Install Cover Khahjiit Male & Female

3 Install XCE + Clean skin patch + Custom body patch

4 Install CBBE + nevernude patch

5 Install Better Beast Races (female khajiit only)

6 Install Cover Khajiit (Female Khajiit only)

7 Install "Basvanbeu MuscleTextureChanger female only LITE with NavetseaSkinset for CBBE or UNP set-6554" (textures only - no esp)

8 Install Ethereal Elven Overhaul+ optional high res textures

9 Install Nuska Real Skin Navetsea version (standard - not freckles optional - freckles version is overkill + doesn't blend with body skin)

10 Install Beauty Faces

*Don't use the caliente tools texture blender, i've found it can cause issues and if using the above mods in that sequence there are no visible neck seams anyway.*

11 Install XCE (for old people only) then xce no more blocky faces (Male Elves, Male & Female elderly & All Orcs - Only - I'm also looking at the consistant old people mod as an alternative for this step)

12 Install XCE Weathered Warpaint & Improved Dirt

13 Install XCE High Res Scars

14 Install HQ warpaint+dirt for men

15 Install HQ eyebrows

16 Install Realistic Hair

17 Install AOF Believable Hair

18 Install straight hair 1_2-4333-1-2 (darker version - less streaks)

19 Install Light Version-21620-1-1 (beards)

20 Install Beauty Eyes NPC & Player (will replace with natural eyes as recommended in latest step config)

21 Install Ran's eye reflection extender

22 Install Longer Eyelashes.

23 Install Extended slider colours - full/main.

The idea is to create different & enhanced/realistic looks for male, female, elderly & different races for more variety and uniqueness whilst maintain a reasonable level of lore-friendly-ness.

Peace.
