TES5Edit no save option after cleaning

Question

Posted

TES5Edit is not giving me the Save window after I clean Update.esm, or any .esm/.esp.

Everything works fine until I close TES5Edit, where there is supposed to be the option to save.  I do not get the option to save the cleaned Update, the program just terminates and I am back in MO with LOOT complaining the esm is still dirty.

I have tried pressing Control-S  as TES5Edit's documentation suggested you could force the Save window to appear but no luck.

I suspect I have a very large hole in my understanding of the way MO handles ...well, everything :-(

I saw that this issue has come up before but the OP somehow just fixed it and didn't say how.

Hi KHW, welcome to STEP.

If it is not giving you an option to save, I doubt it is doing anything. I assume you are running xEdit through MO.

Are there any possible UAC issues? For example, is Skyrim installed to Program Files? What about MO? Neither should be.

I found the other thread you mentioned here, and the OP mentioned it somehow fixed itself when he updated MO. Are you using an old version?

No I am using the newest version of both MO and xEdit.  Also I have all my steam/skyrim stuff and any mods on a separate drive than Program files.  I was having issues with my skyrim install after i had to replace my video card, so the only plugins i have loaded with MO at the moment are the vanilla ESM's and ESP's so I don't think it's from any mod conflicts.

Thank you for replying.

Best / Simplest solution to check if your problem is MO related is to clean your esms outside of MO. Just launch TES5Edit normally, and clean your masters.

Also, you should have a TES5Edit_log.txt in the folder where TES5Edit is installed. Copy its content to pastebin and send a link. If something is wrong in your cleaning process or with your masters, it'll be written in here.

So I figured I would let you know what I did to solve this in case anyone else had the same problem.

I just reinstalled everything.  It works now.
