I totally forgot to re-run BethINI after the setup was finished, typical me. I've gotten rid of the Widescreen fix, BethINI does the job instead. I didn't see either AI Overhaul or Masque of Argonian Vile SSE in the mod list yet they both cropped up as needed after following the guide. Anyway, it's fixed and working now so thank you so much for the help

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help and if I'm being a bit thick please correct me. I've followed the STEP guide and completed loading all the mods. Skyrim works just fine, I just can't seem to get the border around the window to disappear so I'm playing in full screen. Thing is, I'm running at 3440x1440 superwide. I've installed the Complete Widescreen fix from Nexus (and rerun LOOT) and also changed the SkyrimPrefs.ini in the My Games\Skyrim Special Edition folder so it reads: bBorderless=1 bFull Screen=0 iSize H=1440 iSize W=3440 ...but the border won't shift. I've also set bFull Screen = 1, but that doesn't work either. Any ideas? Also, two items keep showing up in my Overwrite folder. I've moved them to their respective mods, but they keep coming back. And there's a notification about missing masters, but I'm not 100% sure what to do about that either. Part of the guide said that LOOT would show missing patches but that could be ignored because LOOT can be slow, it didn't mention anything about MO2 showing this though. Pics of said issue enclosed. If anyone can help I'd really appreaciate

SKYRIMSE Potentially daft questions, but......
Stazbumpa replied to Stazbumpa's topic in Step Skyrim SE Guide
Cheers for the reply sir, I'll have a look over what I've done and reorganise where appropriate. -
Hi all, hope everyone is well and safe in this current climate. I also hope I'm in the right forum, if not please correct me. I'm part way throught the STEP S.E guide and I have 2 questions if anyone can help. Firstly with the Cleaned Vanilla Masters and xEdit Output folders, do they need to be checked? I ask simply because it doesn't state in the guide so I'm (so far) presuming not to check them. Secondly is the Overwrite folder. I have no idea what to do with the items in it, screen shot of the contents attached. If anyone can point me in the right direction with either an answer or the part of the guide I've possibly missed I'd appreciate it. Thank you and stay safe everyone.

I got this issue, rolled back the driver, still the same problem. So I uninstalled the drivers completely and did a fresh install of 362. Still had the same issue, noticed that PhysX was running a newer version so got rid of that and did another install of 362 and that cured it. Until I took a screen shot, then it came back. As mentioned up thread, disabling the Steam overlay has fixed it properly although now I can't take a screenie. One thing maybe worth mentioning, though, is that with both the latest nVidia drivers and my current older drivers, if I alt-tab out and back into Skyrim it fixes the whiteout colour and smoke problem. Nvidia broke SMAA but you can fix it with alt-tab it would appear.

Edit: problem sorted itself it appears, no idea how to delete this thread.

Try typing "Elder" into the box at the top where it says Global_Driver_Profile (Base Profile) and then choose Skyrim from those options and see if the setting changes you made are still there. Mine does exactly what yours is doing but when I check the Skyrim settings they're all correct. I've been meaning to ask this question too.

Clarification regarding Core vs. Non-Core STEP Mods
Stazbumpa replied to VirtuousParagon's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Just adding my tuppence to the subject as a new STEP user; I followed the STEP guide and installed everything on it, so I'm running STEP Extended. I also installed a couple of extra bits and pieces, notable Deadly Dragons, Dragon Combat Evolved, Dual and Combat Evolved, plus a levelled enemies mod. The result is that it's largely stable and thanks to the combat mods I'm getting one shotted by bandits at level 37. Points in the block skill are now essential! Regarding stability, I've not had a CTD that a simple reload wasn't able to fix and it's rare in any case. -
I changed UsePatchSpeedhackWithoutGraphics from false to true and the red writing disappeared. I also seem to be having EdgeAA working as well as SMAA, in any case Skyrim now looks a hell of a lot nicer. Thankyou all for the replies

Aha, I get it now. I appreciate the reply, I've learned something today

Ok, I'll revisit ENBoost and go through my settings again. Just to clarify, the bit in the SMAA install section that says; "In the d3d9 folder (do not use the files from the d9d10 folder!!!) rename d3d9.dll to d3d9_smaa.dll. Non-ENB users do not need to rename this file." Do I take "Non-ENB users" to mean people who are not using a preset but are using Enbseries + Enboost? If so I think I need to reinstall as I did change it from d3d9 to d3d9_smaa. Sorry for the continued (stupid) questions, I am gradually getting my head round this though. Thanks again.

Well the interesting thing is that the downsampling didn't appear to make a jot of difference to the game, everything looked as it was before. But, as I mentioned before, if I load Skyrim from the Steam launcher (Res set to 4k and MSAA + AF disabled in the Options in that launcher) the Skyrim menu screen looks like I've got AA and AF both set to max. I've downloaded and run SMAA, I changed the d3d9.dll to d3d9_smaa.dll (I'm not using an ENB preset so is this right?) and I think it's made a difference. While I was loading up a game it told me that Deffered Rendering was disabled in enblocal.ini and some effects wouldn't work, so being a bloke I set the parameter to true and the game CTD'd when trying to load a game. This quickly got changed back and the game loaded fine, however upon leaving the cavern I was currently in for the outside world, Skyrim told me in red letters at the top of my screen that, and I quote; "bFloatPointRenderTarget=1 is not set in SkyrimPrefs.ini or you have multiple copies of this file". bFloatPointRenderTarget=1 is most certainly set in SkyrimPrefs.ini and I can't find it anywhere else. I'm now confused as hell, but (apart from the the red letters at the top of my screen) Skyrim does look a little less jagged and better for that (SMAA set to ULTRA btw). I honestly don't think that Skyrim via SKSE is recognising the downsampling (DSR) despite the fact that in SkyrimPrefs the resolution is correct. Addendum: Am I being colossally stupid by leaving my monitor at 1080p but setting Skyrim to run at 4k DSR?
-
@Gunkin: I haven't but that's because I've been led to believe hardware AA isn't supported by ENB after v0.119 (I'm using v302). I could be wrong, but that's my understanding of it, hence everything being set to "Application Controlled" in my Nvidia control panel. I'll have another look though. @TechAngel: I hadn't thought of that, will give it a whirl when I get in from work. I found the instructions in the ENB guide, looks straight forward enough even for me. Should I keep my 4k downsampling resolution or set that back to 1080p? Thank you both for your responses

Hi all, I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks to this place I have Skyrim running with STEP Extended very nicely, however I cannot get anti aliasing to work at all. So far I think I've been clever enough to work out it should be set via the ENB settings. I say clever, what I actually mean is that I followed what the guide said but now I'm stuck. I installed ENboost as per instruction (Wrapper v302 iirc) and also edited the enblocal.ini to enable ENB stuff. This seems to have given me access to the ENB in game overlay (Shift+Enter), and I've been trying to set the various AA options (TemporalAA et al) in the enblocal.ini but nothing is getting rid of the jagged edges. I've tried setting them and saving/applying changes with the in game overlay too, that's not working either. I'm running the game at 3840x2160 using Nvidia down sampling, everything is set to Application Controlled in my gfx control panel and Nvidia inspector is similarly setup as per STEP instruction. I don't have an ENB preset installed although I'm not sure I want to as all I'm after is smoothing the edges. Incidentally, as a test I ran Skyrim from the regular Steam launcher (didn't load a save game, just the main menu) and the Skyrim dragon logo is lovely and smooth whereas from SKSE it's obvious that the logo has jagged edges. From the Steam launcher, it seems to be listening to my gfx control panel settings for downsampling, whereas launching from SKSE via MO is not. I have definitely got the resolution correct in SkyrimPrefs.ini. I'm not sure if this is relevant, but my rig is i7 Ivybridge, 670GTX and 8Gb RAM. Skyrim currently doesn't budge from the 58fps limit I set. I'm guessing I've missed a basic tweak or something, so any help anyone can give me would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, hope you all have a good weekend.

I'm posting to say thank you all for STEP. I've started a new game and it's amazing, really enjoying it. The guide is brilliant, even this idiot was able to follow it and get everything working. I'm currently getting one-shotted by bandits around Falkreath (my fault, Duel Combat and Combat Evolved mod = hard as nails enemies) and I need to sort the jaggies out (no AA currently, I've tried the down sampling thing I saw in another thread but it's not made any difference), but apart from that it's absolutely golden. Thanks again guys, your work is supreme

UNP/UNPB within the STEP gospel.
Stazbumpa replied to Stazbumpa's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Your english is far, far better than my french I got the banding around the ankles to disappear, I reinstalled the mature skin textures and installed the Normal Maps UNP bit. Before I had it set to "Keep Existing". Anyway, it appears to be working, and since True Daughters doesn't seem to have a UNPB download I'll probably stick to these. Appreciate all the help and suggestions guys, thank you again -

I'll be running a test from the very start tonight to see if that fixes the textures, appreciate the heads up. Just need to finish this damn shift at work first  -
Fore's New Idles in Skyrim - FNIS (by fore)
Stazbumpa replied to WilliamImm's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Ah ok. In that case I have no idea what happened, but the Overwrite folder went red after installing each of those mods and had FNIS-esque folders and files in there. I emptied it after Blade of Woe and it did it again for Armours. The game seems to be working fine, so I'm hoping I'm ok. At worst I can uninstall FNIS and reinstall after I'm done modding I guess. Cheers for the reply though -

Stazbumpa replied to Stazbumpa's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I followed the installer instructions for UNPB and the textures are definitely UNPB also, I checked it on an existing save so TechAngel could be right that a new game might fix it. The existing save isn't an issue, it's in Helgen at the start and when I'm done modding I'll be starting a new game proper anyway. Thanks for the other suggestions, I'll give them a whirl too -
Fore's New Idles in Skyrim - FNIS (by fore)
Stazbumpa replied to WilliamImm's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Hope this is the right place to post this and sorry if it's a stupid question, I installed aMidianBorn Blade of Woe and Armours and both installs resulted in files in the Overwrite folder. They looked like FNIS related stuff so I dragged the files into the FNIS Output mod I made when I installed FNIS before. Was that right? -

Textures look great Got a slight issue with a black band around the ankles and what appears to be clipping around the pelvis area but nothing major. Might try a few others see how it goes. -

Ok, I've grabbed the Mature textures and I noticed there is an entry in STEP about them https://wiki.step-project.com/Mature_skin_texture_and_body Problem is I don't fully understand the recommendations section regarding "copy operations within the loose files" and I have no idea how to do this. I'd like to though because I like the idea of female vampires that look like normal humans. Can anyone point me in the right direction please? Maybe I've missed something in MO Guide. Thanks again. -

Stazbumpa replied to Stazbumpa's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Really appreciate the input guys thank you. I also wish to avoid turning Skyrim into a cartoon, I'll have a nosey at the mature textures. I'm mostly a nubcake when it comes to modding, I never finished Skyrim the first time around because I broke it with mods but this place is a gold mine of sensible information so I might actually finish the game for once
