  1. Not so unbelievable, I have known several women like that ;)
  2. Sounds brilliant a 'must try'. How would mixing and matching like this affect, for instance, the Parallax mods though?
  3. Excellent catch :) I'm a constant explorer rather than quest follower so this will be invaluable - a definite addition.
  4. I have played Eve and although it is an MMO I don't think of it as RPG, just not engaging on that level. As to Morrowind, there is a mod pack Morrowind Overhaul that you might want to consider. Here is also a showing our firendly neighborhood Vurt's excellent landscape flora mod :)
  5. For those on the gnarley edge as far as FPS goes (like me) there is still a place for RLwC. I also still prefer the darker nights and dungeons. Have to say I've not encountered any issues with RLwC thus far although I did update to the sans Rain version Atm though I'm very interested to see how Staynd's stand-alone Vibrancy ENB mod turns out.
  6. @Draco & Farlo Morrowind will inevitably look a bit dated - although I've been a long time away from the mod scene there so can't say how far it can be buffed up visually now. However it has a pretty good story line and the area is so different in look and feel to the other parts of Tamriel that you don't look for it to be 'realistic' in the same way as Oblivion introduced. It is well worth the few pennies it would cost to try it out :)
  7. Yes! Big fan at the time :) Seriously flawed but very atmospheric with a quality storyline as far as it went. I'm not a great Vampire fan, it's a genre that has become very devalued thanks to the whole "Interview", "Angel", "Twilight" nonsense.I'm more of a "Dusk til Dawn", "30 Days of Night" type :)
  8. I used to prefer ATi cards, and not just for the price ;) but because the image rendition tended to be less harshly contrasted than nVid cards - I found that more natural (the original Unreal game looked gorgeous on an ATi card). Back then it was common to use a third party driver if you were primarily in to games. The guy who produced the Omega drivers actually had contact with, and help from, ATi at the time. Defunct now unfortunately. I moved to nVidia when they took a commanding lead in 3D rendition, and as yet they still hold that imho. As Sb4N (I think) said they also have a more solid compatability across platforms. It would be nice now with the general cheapness of memory if companies started offering higher vRAM models within affordable price points as sales propaganda, as the whole "fastest card in the world" thing is getting a bit stale.
  9. Other than TES (at least until this year) I am really an MMORPG gamer. [That has included: EQ, EQ2, GW, Vanguard, WoW, AoC, LotRO] Unfortunately, due to the dire 'shallow' state of modern MMOs generally there is nothing myself and my Guild have active :( Very depressing tbh. So... pushed into the loneliness of the long distance solo gamer I've been amusing myself with Kingdoms of Amalur (RIP 38 Studios & *Copernicus*), Diablo 3, and of course Skyrim. I can't really enjoy FPSs anymore as the reflexes just aren't there :P Anyway I like to immerse and 'live' my games rather than just consume them. A list of previously played would pretty much echo Frihyland's with just a few additions, so I won't bother :)
  10. Discussion thread: Convenient Horses by Alek Wiki Link Convenient Horses Having seen this recommended by Skwareballz and in the latest Nexus video it looks like a very good contender, especially if combined with SKSE for key mapping. I intend to add this to my setup for testing and while there appear to be a couple of non-game-breaking glitches, as yet I have seen no obvious incompatabilities. The author seems to have thought carefully about this one and the inclusion of animation, both for immersion and to signify the trigger of a given command, rather than simply jumping from one state to another is especially nice.
  11. Hey Farlo, great to see you back :) I asked recently if we had a compatability list for 1.6 as yet and the lack of reply makes me think not ;) Afraid your best bet is to run through the list of STEP mods you plan to use and check the Nexus pages for confirmation of update friendliness. Boring but necessary. From what I gather most major projects have updated, USKP has a beta for now that works, and the graphics/texture mods won't cause any problems anyway. There were a few hiccups waiting for an updated CK... not sure how stable that is yet or if mod authors are able to use it for updating, I'm sure someone else here has their finger on the pulse of that one. Good luck with the install, there have been some tasty additions since your short sabatical :)
  12. Do we have anything close to a list of STEP mods that need to be reinstalled with updates for 1.6 yet, now that we have a compatible USKP to go forward with?
  13. That is fascinating stuff Mad I must research some more in that field now. Basically I assume you mean here that "the way we have evolved [OR NOT] neurologically" because I assume much of human phenotypes hark back to our prehistoric origins. Economically/socially that is almost self-evident but I had not considered the political aspects - I suppose this might expalin our tendancy to create hierachical/pyramidal power structures even when we initially intend something more egalitarian. fascinating.
  14. Thanks for that Neo and grats on your Nexus entry :) Most pleased to see that this seems to work fine with Cloaks of Skyrim.
  15. On the first point I'm afraid the very nature of capitalism requires the obsession with material wants (rather than needs) and the industry that feeds that compulsion to people (media/advertising). Although I readily admit that I have yet to discover any viable alternative... I simply don't put it 'all' down to natural human greed, it is a controlled process. If anyone knows better PLEASE advise :) [and sorry but I've lived through communism and hippy/new age'isms and they fail under the pressure of human nature]. On education - most actual teachers would agree with you Fri, unfortunately it has become yet another victim of the industrial process that demands measurable results, accounts, accountability and Profit In reality it's a very complex question about what we want education to achieve... and believe me, limiting the goals is serving someone's purposes.
  16. Good info :) I did mention the customizer before but I believe it was Fri who pointed out it's 'limitations' ;) I missed the update to v2.1 so maybe I'll take another look.
  17. Thanks MadW this seems like a direction that STEP may take, at least as optional packs, so a close inspection of this (and how thorough he has been in testing) would be a good idea. Hopefully it is not just a list of mods he 'thinks' will work well together, I'll try to get time to check thorugh it next week.
  18. Beautiful... :) I think I'm in love
  19. Corrected that for you....
  20. I agree with Fri. If anyone becomes obnoxious enough to ban you must be able to point to the specifics of what they have transgressed in some readily available document so that other users don't percieve our actions as arbitrary. Of course if people don't read the stuff, well... *shrug* :D
  21. Looking forward to this. I had stopped using ENB altogether due to performance hit but with the developments added by Boris for shadows I wanted to give it another shot and I like your take on things (after adjustments made with Imaginator). One thing that has stuck me looking at various 'realistic' attempts with ENB mods is that peoples perception of what is imitating 'real' imagery must be coloured by where they live. I live in England and we don't get that many really bright sunny days ;) so a deep contrast between light and shadow feels 'wrong' to me, as I expect to be able to see quite a lot of detail within a shadowed area. Likewise glaringly bright reflections from objects and surroundings seems 'unreal'. But I guess for someone from further south that would look right and natural as they get a larger percentage of days in the year with that type of contrast. Sorry just me rambling :P Keep up the good work Staynd :)
  22. Of course another option is to avoid/delay the 1.6 update until the mod scene catches up... but with the improvements offered by the new patch I suspect very few folk will want to do that ;)
  23. @Vond When you say interiors do you mean dungeons or housing interiors? I don't mind the latter being brighter but dungeons and nights should be torch-use dark. When you find the settings to correct this please pass on the information :) Would you expect that to be a RLwC function or within the ENB ini?
  24. Now much as I am loathe to mess with my setup right now as I'm 'almost' actually playing the game this news is too great a hook for me not to try it out :D Having said that I'm already using RLwC and SMAA with no AA and only 2x Sparse Grid and 8x AF (no ENB post processing) so actual FPS gains seem pretty unlikely, however if I get qualitative improvements with minimal performance loss on what I have now I'll be delighted! :)
