PerMa (Patchus Maximus) SkyProc patch Null Error
GrantSP replied to Dovado's question in Other Utilities Support
Let's have a look at the modlist.txt & plugins.txt from your MO profile folder. -
That's a work-in-progress (WIP), so they are just placeholders until the correct images are captured.
-
If you are relying on the 'Sort' function in MO to be updated with the latest masterlists from LOOT, you need to install LOOT as an executable and run it at least once from inside MO first. Afterwards 'Sort' will use the updated masterlists.

Morrowind 12 years later...
GrantSP replied to Garfink's topic in General Morrowind Discussion & Support
When I first found Skyrim, after years of working in CivV, I also thought about my Morrowind disks. I d/l MSGO and tried that, it has a lot in it and it was a very big d/l. The installer is pretty good though and my laptop was soon running Morrowind with a lot of extra pretty textures and features. However, as it is an all-in-one installer, I ended up removing it as I didn't really like the overall feel of the 'new' Morrowind. I guess you could tweak the setup somewhat but the effort for me wasn't worth it. Morrowind is now relegated to my storage until I again feel the need to 'fiddle'. -
Why? If it actually damaged the terrain or buildings, then maybe, but all it does is add an annoyance that doesn't enhance gameplay.

I have no idea how long this has been the case, I don't generally look at this part of the forum screen, but I have just now noticed there are three QN icons showing next to the 'View New Content' button. Latest Chrome on Win64 with a few Chrome extensions. hmm... did someone just fix that and not post about it? Just me? Something screwy is going on.

Mod Organizer loads Skyrim without main menu, even with all mods disabled
GrantSP replied to MonMalthias's question in Mod Organizer Support
Could you detail how you both installed SKSE and how it is set in the MO executables list? I have encountered a couple postings where users have tried to use the installer version of SKSE and it somehow got borked, try the archive version. (if you haven't already) -
Should dawnguard.esm still be cleaned twice?
GrantSP replied to Satur9's question in General Skyrim LE Support
From memory I believe it is all about the version used. -
MO has deleted itself and all of the mods along with it?
GrantSP replied to xJack's question in Mod Organizer Support
Don't take this the wrong way, but with the issues you are going having, I would suggest using TES5Edit or similar tools should be avoided. Find a techy friend that can help you get used to your system and try to mod your game only when you are more familiar with your computer. -
Another reason for using the archive versions.

MO has deleted itself and all of the mods along with it?
GrantSP replied to xJack's question in Mod Organizer Support
I'm having a hard time believing this. Software just doesn't make decisions by itself. Going on how you describe the issue I would actually advise NOT allowing yourself full administrator privileges. If you are having trouble finding an installation of MO I shudder to think what other damage you could do to your system. Apologies if that sounds harsh. Since you are having the same issue with TES5Edit I think that shows it isn't a MO issue but a user issue. -
Well since that is the STEP official process, ie it applies to Skyrim specifically, then I would say, yes, it is correct. However, in my opinion that is too narrow an installation process for the more experienced gamer/modder. There is no reason to have LOOT installed into the Skyrim folder, in fact I would argue against it. I always recommend installing these tools outside of any Windows controlled folders and more importantly game specific folders. The way I would suggest it is to use either the installer or archive versions, my choice would be the archive version, and when given the option choose a folder specifically for your modding tools. I have a folder called C:\Games\Utils\ that holds all the tools I use for modding. My LOOT installation looks like this: C:\Games\Utils\LOOT\docs C:\Games\Utils\LOOT\resources C:\Games\Utils\LOOT\LOOT.exeSince I use MO for all the supported games, I simply add the switch to the arguments field in the executabes dialog to start LOOT with the desired game like this: --game=Skyrim or --game=Oblivion This ensures LOOT works as expected for all the games and I don't have to remember to choose the game from LOOT's game selector menu. Installing LOOT in this fashion keeps the game folders free of tools that don't need to be there and means it can be just one installation for many games. I have never had any errors reported by using this 'non-STEP' method, so you could try that and see if you get any better results.

WTH! I even had that site bookmarked and it didn't show up! What black arts are at play here? Well in that case, I unreservedly apologise to T3nd0 and PerMa.

That's interesting, keep an eye out for any errors in the ids. Also make sure you save it with the correct encoding. I've stuffed up categories before but never had crashes. If you do have the same issue post your categories.dat so we can check it out. That of course applies only if you edited it without the GUI.

I concur with @hishutup on the whole "quit to the main menu to load a save game" thing. Why?

Dragon 4k-8k Texture Mod Extracting error + Facelift Overhaul
GrantSP replied to Sencho's question in Mod Organizer Support
See post# 7by GSDFan EDIT: I just created a whole lot of LZMA2 archives using all the different compression sizes and they all worked fine in MO. Confused. -
Any Windows updates at that time?

Dragon 4k-8k Texture Mod Extracting error + Facelift Overhaul
GrantSP replied to Sencho's question in Mod Organizer Support
As for the 7Zip hypothesis, no luck I'm afraid. The installed version is 9.20 and LZMA2 was added in version 9.04 so unless the 7Zip library is faulty, there is some other dark magic at play. @phazer11 As noted that method does work which just makes the whole issue more troublesome since that shouldn't work, if the 7Zip library is good. I use 7Zip and it handles that archive just fine. I have seen before a couple of postings about archives that refuse to open, I should try and track them down and see if they all share the same compression method. EDIT: I just now grabbed the latest 7z library from Sourceforge and replaced the 7z.dll in my MO install and tried this problematic archive. Same result. It is definitely not an issue with the library and the compression method. -
I find it a bit disingenuous that PerMa has a 'SkyrimGems' logo on the description page. That site has been down for months and I'm pretty sure it hasn't been taking additions for many more months than PerMa has existed. Surely the mod is good enough to stand on its own merit than try to sway a few less-savvy readers with 'non-existent endorsements'. That's enough of me being petty for the day. I'm off to pick up my daughter from the airport.

Dragon 4k-8k Texture Mod Extracting error + Facelift Overhaul
GrantSP replied to Sencho's question in Mod Organizer Support
I'm not 100% sure but I would guess the 7Zip library MO is using might be the version that doesn't support LZMA2, which is what this archive is compressed in. The error message: extraction failed (9) is for the 7Zip library and it may just mean that it can't recognize the archive. Both the manual and automatic files are identical so it isn't the method of transmission that is corrupting them, just the packaging of the original. I've contacted Tannin for a clarification. -
Way to find Mod Organizer's installation directory
GrantSP replied to Mator's question in Mod Organizer Support
Yes, that is the best approach. As @DoubleYou pointed out, MO doesn't set any registry settings aside from the one for the 'nxm' handler and that is for only one of many possible MO installations, so that would be more effort than it is worth. I'm eagerly looking forward to your releases, been following them for sometime now. -
Textures not appearing in game using Mod Organizer
GrantSP replied to Lanyon's question in Mod Organizer Support
Couple of points. Those settings relate to MipMaps, so yes, your textures will be affected. MO gets its ini values from the default settings Skyrim generated after the initial game run, so any values assigned to the MO settings would be those. Were you tweaking settings inside the MO GUI and maybe adjusted something inadvertently? Maybe clicked a setting in the Configurator? -
New laptop, Windows 8.1 thinks mods are apps.
GrantSP replied to Madcad7's question in General Skyrim LE Support
In your opening post you said: Now you're saying it might be the fomod installer that is fooling Windows. You're not going to see that extension from the download page on Nexus, you must have successfully downloaded it and tried to install it for something like that to happen. So which is it? Have you downloaded and can't install it or you can't download it? If it is the installation problem then maybe the Windows message gives you the chance to look for a suitable installed executable on your system? Point it to MO if it does.
