ACCEPTED HD Sacks Retexture (by Mazarin)
peppergomez replied to stoppingby4now's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Ahh, I see. Thanks. -
I am unable to install Skyrim Redesigned at all in Wrye Bash. Whether I install it as a RAR archive, a folder, or a BCF. It remains greyed out. I tried to create a BCF and I thought I had done so correctly, since Skyrim Redesigned v1.0 BCF BCF file appears in the Installers tab, but it too is greyed out. Got this WxPython notification after I followed the steps to create the BCF: Assistance would be appreciated here. Thanks. PS- The non-BCF folder shouldn't be greyed out, since It's a RAR file with all 33 mods in the folder. I don't know why I couldn't open it in Wrye Bash and then simply check those folders I did want to isntall. I even tried removing the Skyrim Redesigned master folder from the RAR file, removing the folders not called for in STEP, and then installing it as a Installer in Wrye Bash, but this too remains greyed out. What gives?

ACCEPTED HD Sacks Retexture (by Mazarin)

Is it necessary to download the large 1.4 file and then a particular type and size in addition to that? My gut tells me that it is not, since I downloaded both and viewed the folders---the large file seems to include types A, B, and C. Just want to confirm. I wish mod authors would be clearer about these things, since many mods have a larger main file that's required and then various optional files. https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/2836 -
Flickering in distant mountains and on one NPC face
peppergomez posted a question in General Skyrim LE Support
I just completed step 2J in the STEP process. Two thing I've noticed during the intro movie as I approach Helgen: 1- The very distant mountains are flickering. I've noticed this for awhile actually, earlier in the STEP process, though I don't recall when. 2- One flickering NPC face, a character leaning up against a porch rail facing the gate when it opens and the horse carriages go inside. I wonder if either of these are related to any NVIDIA settings? If there are common causes to either of these scenarios, I'd appreciate some suggestions. Thanks. -
Thanks. Note that for this mod, I don't see a Wizard installer option active (ie, it's greyed out) for either the Main file or for the HD Textures optional file: Explosive Bolts Visualized https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/21922 STEP instructions: "Also install the optional "HD Textures" file. Wrye Bash Users: Remember to install this mod before running the wizard for Closer Quivers and Longer Arrows. "

Question- Why when I run BOSS within Wrye Bash are a number of the mods in the Mods tab unchecked/inactive? I noticed that several (Lanterns of Skyrim Main and Default, Moss Rocks, Point the Way, Skyrim Flora Overhaul, Skyrim Chimney, Distant Detail, Masser Size, SFO, Secunda Size, Water, Water Plants, and Water DB) are unchecked. I have checked them. Just curious if I need to be manually checking mods after I have added them, or if there is some reason Wrye Bash has marked these mods as inactive. Thanks.

Curious as to the reasons folks would either use ENB or not, and if it's a question of low frame rates when using it that causes folks to not use it. I'm encountering some mods in the STEP process that differ based on whether or not one is using ENB. I'm about haflway though installing STEP and my frames are about at 40fps. As long as my frames don't go below say 25, I am fine. Also, at what point during the STEP process do folks install ENB - beginning, end, middle, and are there reasons why one would choose a certain point? Thanks.

I am now at the point in my STEP install where I install the High Quality LODs https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/4834 The instructions on the Nexus page state: "A complete set of LOD-files consists of - 1x mesh package - 1x normal-map package - 1x color-map package In the download-area are multiple version of the packages. All downloads named "Original" are files related to a vanilla Skyrim install, without any replacers and landscape-mods. These are the base-line packages. All the other downloads indicate from which mod they stem from (Skyrim HD etc.) and if you have a landscape replacer or mod installed take a look if you find the corresponding package." STEP's baseline is just the Hi-res meshes. Can/should I install the Textures Original and Normals Original files that are listed in the Main Files section?

DROPPED Bethesda Hi-Res DLC Optimized (by Vano89)
peppergomez replied to Farlo's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Hey folks, Want to confirm how to best install this using Wrye Bash. I'm thinking that I will extract the three folders I want to use: 00 Core Files, 01 Hi-Res Secondary Stuff, and 02 Hybrid & Vanilla NM files. Then I will package them into a RAR archive file, name it HDDLC Optimized, and then drop that into the Installers tab in Wrye Bash. Does that sound okay? And are there any other steps that I should follow? EDIT- I went ahead and did it that way- made a RAR file with Core Files, Hi-Res Secondary Stuff, and Hybrid & Vanilla NM Files folders. Dropped that RAR file into the Installer tab in Wrye Bash. It's there at the bottom as a white box with a cross in it. I read the Wrye Bash FAQ that states a white box: "The package, as configured, has no files to install. This can happen for complex packages where none of the sub-packages are selected for installation. " Also, the text is navy blue (indicating the presence of sub packages) I selected all three sub-packages (Core Files, Hi-Res Secondary Stuff, and Hybrid & Vanilla Files) and now the box is red. Is all good/installed properly? Thanks. -
Haha, ok will take future questions (after this next one) to the appropriate forum. I answer to your question about re-archiving Skill Interface and Skill Interface Dawnguard...I did not create RAR files from them but instead created a folder (which appears in Wrye Bash as a diamond) in the correct Wrye Bash folder. Each folder has the sub folders that are the mod options I chose to use. It has apparently worked fine, since I reran BOSS and rebuilt bashed patch, then started a new game. The skill interface looks new and improved. Is creating folders ok, or are archive RAR files preferred? And if so, why? No more non-DDSopt questions here any longer, i promise! :-)

When a mod RAR file has multiple versions , only one of which should be chosen, what's the best way to handle that in Wrye Bash? I've been extracting the versions I want to use and then placing them in a folder and then deleting the RAR file. I find it distracting to see all the options listed on the Installers Package tab in Wrye Bash. Actually, this is for the Skill Interface Retexture, which has Wrye Bash installation instructions that call for downloading the NMM installer version and then installing a Wyre Bash installer version (the creator doesn't provide any instructions on this, though). How have you guys installed Skill Interface Retexture? There are many many subfolders, plus I need to install the Dawnguard version, so whatever method is most efficient... EDIT---- I installed the RAR of the BCF version of Skill Interface 6.0. I followed the instructions and placed the BCF file from within the RAR file into the Bain Convertors folder. The RAR file itself is in the Bash Installers folder. Despite having done that, the Apply option remains greyed out when I follow these steps: 1. Ensure that the BCF is installed in the correct location, [Game] Mods\Bash Installers\Bain Converters. Also ensure that the archive(s) it converts is/are in [Game] Mods\Bash Installers. 2. From the BAIN installers list, select the archive(s) to be converted (i.e., the "source" packages) and right click on the selected file(s) to bring up the context menu, and select Conversions to open the sub-menu. 3. Click on Apply to open a second sub-menu and select the BCF from it. Also, both the Skill Interface and Skill Interface (Dawnguard) have an idenictally named file (BCF.dat)- I cannot place both in the Bain Convertors folder or one will overwrite the other (or be given a (1) appendage). Advice? PS- I did a forum search for this and everything I've found just says to place the BCF in the Bain Convertors folder (with the RAR file still in the Bash Installers folder) and then choose Convert>Apply. So, no idea how to get it such that Apply isn't greyed out. Also, and this is a newb question: I notice that several mods in the Mods tab don't have checks in the green boxes, even though I added the files and checked them in the Installers tab. I've gone ahead and checked them in the Mods tab, assuming that they need to be checked. Also ran BOSS and then rebuilt the Bashed Patch.
-
PS Do I ever want either Alias Mod Names or Merge Patches checked when I rebuild/update the Bashed Patch? And I am guessing I want to keep the default check beside Tweak Settings and Leveled Lists.
-
I am assuming that Fuz Ro D'oh, Nitpick, and any other mods incompatible with 1.9.32 are a no go. I only ask b/c it's odd they are still listed on the STEP list of mods, since 1.9.32 is now a live patch and out of Beta. Maybe b/c it's so new STEP still lists mods that were compatible with the previous Skyrim version.

OK, thank you. I forgot to post that I right-clicked Install and they seem to have isntalled just fine. Thanks part two. I owe you and Kelmych several virtual beers. :-)

Just dragged/copied the Ancient Nord Armor Fix-2808-1 into the Installers tab in Wrye Bash and got the following File Operation Error pop-up: Not sure how to proceed. The mod does appear (pink box beside it) in the Package list. Actually, this is happening wheneer I drag a .rar file from the Bash Installers folder into the Package tab in Wrye Bash...the file doesn't appear and nothing happens until I click on Wrye Bash, at which point a Windows notification beep sounds and a wxPython: stdout/stderr pop-up window similar to the above with "Trackback" appears, and which always ends in "FileOperationError: 113" This did not happen when I dragged/copied the STD and HRDLC1-3 RAR files, so why is it happening now when I have done the same with Ancient Nord Armour Fix, Appropriately Attired Jarls, and Argonian Decapitation Fix RAR files?

Thanks MishMash.

More questions- Just ran BOSS from within Wrye Bash. It lists Update.esm as containing dirty edits: "Update.esm Active Bash Tag suggestion(s): {{BASH: Delev, Relev}} Contains dirty edits: 92 ITM, 3 UDR records. Needs TES5Edit cleaning. A cleaning guide is available here." so, I have opened TES5edit and am going to clean update.esm for a 2nd time (I did it earlier, pre-DDSopt) In watching the TES5edit tutorial video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=wt4W1dZF9IE#! At the 4:10 mark, he recommends clicking on Properties>Local Files in Steam, and verifying the game cache to get the Bethesda master files. I am assuming that I DON'T want to do this because it fixes/replaces the BSA files, but I assume that means Steam will overright the DDSoptimized ones I created with the unoptimized vanilla ones. So basically my question is this- now that I have completed the DDSoptimization, I don't ever want to run the Verify Game Cache command from Steam, right? I'll just follow the TES5Edit cleaning process without doing that step. Also, after I have cleaned the Update.esm in TES5edit, I was thinking of loading a new Skyrim game, just to see what kind of performance I get. Will I need to build a bashed patch before I run the game, even though I haven't installed any STEP mods yet (STD and HRDLC1-3.rar files are all that appear in the Installers tab in Wrye Bash)? (In the Mods tab I have Skyrim, Update, Dawngaurd, and Dragonborn ESM files, all checked, follwed by Bashed Patch, 0.esp, which is unchecked)
-
Thanks. Onward onto STEP I go~!...of course once Bioshock Infinite unlocks I'm guessing I'll be transfixed by that until I finish it. (hopefully I've gotten the really hard parts out of the way with the DDS optimization process)
-
Thanks. The load order numbers are as follows in Wrye Bash: HRDLC1 Order 0 HRDLC2 Order 1 HRDLC3 Order 2 STD Order 4 I imagine that this order needs to be reversed, so I moved STD up to the top by clicking on it and dragging it to the top. so that it's now STD 0 and HRDLC 1-3 Order 1-3 respectively.
-
Edit- nevermind. I had a Wrye Bash related question (I just installed the standalone version) but I figured it out. I do notice however that the three HRDLC1.rar files in Wrye Bash are yellow, indicating that some resorcues are not identical (eg. another package has overwritten them with another version of the files). I also notice that the HRDLC 1-3 are above the STD (the STD is below a grey ==Last== indicator. I am assuming that the order should be STD, then HRDLC1-3. Still reading the Wrye Bash read me to see if I can or should reorder them in Wrye Bash, or just wait to use BOSS. Oh, do I need to install or integrate BOSS within Wrye Bash in some manner to get it to communicate with Wrye BAsh? Also, does Wrye Bash also need to be integrated at all with SKSE, in the same way that Mod Organizer will allow me to launch Skyrim via the SKSE? Acutally, that raises a more fundamental question- after all this STEP procedure is finished, what app will I use to launch Skyrim- WryeBash? I am viewing Wryebash and Mod Organizer in an either/or way. Since they both do the same thing, or serve the same purpose, I am assuming that I only use one or ther other, but not both.
-
Thanks. I am not using Wrye Bash...but Mod Organizer. Do you know the method for isntalling them via MO, or is it highly recommended that I use Wrye Bash instead?
-
Thanks for that tip. PS- At what point do I put the archive files of the loose textures (STD, HRDLC 1-3) into my Skyrim folder, and where do I put them? I glanced over the STEP mod listing on the current STEP install instructions page, but didn't see them mentioned. Maybe I overlooked them.
-
OK, thanks. So, have I finally completed the BSA optimization process using DDSopt, such that I can proceed with the STEP install process? Here's what my Skyrim data folder currently has in it: As for the archive files of the loose textures (STD, HRDLC 1-3), Do I just keep them in the "Vanilla Optimized" folder I created on my other drive, until I come to the specific STEP instructions for where to copy them? Mishmash, this was your reply a few days ago re: these: "Those four archives of loose files of textures (STD, HRDLC1 etc.) will NOT be made back into BSAs and will replace the original BSAs and be installed like any other mod that will follow in STEP so the four original BSAs of those only need to be in your backup vanilla folder now."
-
OK, I've optimized the remaining 6 vanilla BSAs using DDSopt (Animations, Interface, Meshes, Misc, Shaders, VoicesExtra). I'm a bit unclear about the last 4 steps: 2. Move the 6 original BSAs to another folder, such as "Original Vanilla BSAs" for backup purposes. 3. Rename the new optimized BSAs to match the names of 6 original BSAs. Skyrim will then recognize these and use them instead of the original vanilla BSAs. 4. Create another folder (e.g., "Optimized Vanilla BSAs") adjacent to the folder holding the original BSAs. 5. Copy all 6 of the optimized BSAs into this new folder. It doesn't appear that the optimized BSAs are being placed into the Skyrim Data folder, which is where they originally were in the "regular/vanilla" Skyrim install. Shouldn't they be placed in that folder, eventually? I have a "Optimized Vanilla BSAs" folder on another drive where I have stored them, and a "Vanilla BSAs" folder on that same drive where I have saved backups of the original vanilla Skyrim BSAs. So, I thought I could just copy the optimized vanilla BSAs that I just created using DDSopt and paste them into the main Skyrim>Data folder. From the instructions above, it isn't 100% clear to me what the final result is--- optimized vanilla BSAs in the main Skyrim>Data folder, or are there now two folders within the main Skyrim (or Skyrim>Data) folder: "Original Vanilla BSAs" and "Optimized Vanilla BSAs"? And if there are, how does Skyrim know which BSAs to use? I might be overthinking this, but the complexity of these procedures and the room for confusion based on my reading of the instructions warrants these questions. Thanks.
