Spoiler tags is just one way to produce a nice looking layout. But in general if you are doing a post that is one page long, then it is really straining on the eyes if it is just a wall. I would just be happy with some better paragraphing... but again when I make a semi long post I should also learn to be better at that! Also I think you have a bit unhealthy relationship with acronyms :P I would never expect that someone type in what an acronym means in every single post, since that would almost ruin the point of them. There is something to be said about people looking up stuff on their own if they want technical assistance. I personally know I would never do that... only in a post that is meant to be a guide or similar, since I just cba to spend that extra amount of time on every single post. As for the topic at hand, then yeah I like MO for not doing what WB does and sticks to what it does best. NMM´s biggest flaw is that it works with many games, but have so little functionality in every game that the difference between using it and manually installing is very little. Would be interresting if a program was made that could better handle the various lists in skyrim. In a dream world then you would be able to load it up and select everything you wanted at what level from a nice GUI, then it would create the .esp automatically. I know that would be a great help for people who love to have 10000 different swords and armors etc.

In general I would never suggest that you touch the _msn.dds files (Or any of the skin textures for that matter) with any sort of automated programs. Or at all unless you know what you are doing. You can think of the _msn.dds file as the one that is allowed to be 21Mb in size if it so pleases... all skin textures are made to be used in unison, and altering them will upset the rather delicate balance that skin color and detail require. You may have noticed the neck seam which is just one example of what can happen when you start having non optimal skin textures.

Hard to say if it is a mesh error.... I am thinking it just have some wrong flags enabled. Perhaps these are required perhaps not... only way to tell is by altering the mesh and trying it out! :) The meshes I am looking at currently are ones that have an emmitance value enabled which makes them stand out silly since that glow is only optimized for vanilla image spaces... getting kinda annoying now.

Actually nope that is wrong (sorry) _n.dds is tangent space normal maps _msn.dds is object space normal maps They can both be compressed or uncompressed as you see fit. The difference is that they are used for different things. In skyim the main difference is that _msn.dds are used for bodies.

Plugin Count May Matter (More)
Aiyen replied to Neovalen's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
Yeah that is a very good point... all DLC have been at -75% sale several times now... there is not really any excuse anymore. You know its coming on the Christmas sale, and on the summer sale, every year. I know I personally am not doing it anymore...I just do not find tes5editing the same things over and over overly interesting! -
Plugin Count May Matter (More)
Aiyen replied to Neovalen's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
Essentially ILS cooks down to the following very simple thing.... Too much stuff is trying to load in at once! The only thing that is proven to work every single time is to reduce the amount of stuff you load into the game. This can either be something that adds stuff to the game world in terms of models, or it can just be something that expands the lists that the game use to equip the NPC´s. It could be entirely possible that the amount of .esp´s you have adds to the issue, since at the end of the day then its another piece of loading that needs to be done! But it is a really tricky thing to prove, since the persons hardware play into it, and some people just have better hardware which give a bit higher tolerances (Here better as in both performance and quality of the components). When moving near the edge of what the engine can handle, then you tend to notice the issues more since you are more exposed. -

Does the following work if you type this in the console from the main menu (IE. do not start a game!) "coc riverwood" -
All this DX stuff is only to lure in developers atm. Not end users... since there are no products that take advantage of it then its a rather silly thing really. And no I forgot the fine print in what they could, but it was something to do with large scale texture loading for landscapes etc. Or better support for it. But again this is mainly to lure developers of game engines into the fold, and ultimately game developers so they start making products that work and MS then can say "Use our fancy stuff here and your program will perform/look better".

Short answer: No Long answer: Nothing is going to change on the game front until next year when the next generation console titles start to get released. The main difference between dx 10 and dx 11 is increased support for tessellation (Fancy parallax). (This in terms of added features that the earlier ones cannot handle). There are a lot of other developer oriented changes as well but this mostly does not matter for the end user. And even then then windows 8 is as far as I can see it just another one of the those MS releases they had to release because they decided on a release schedule... it is not remotely close to a quantum leap. Edit: For desktop users! Not mobile! Obviously.

Too bad that its more then 4 years since I stopped at university then ;) I already considered it! But thanks for the suggestion!

No its for blender 2.49b ... which is what I meant with early versions! I have tried every guide there is out there, and the only ones that are working are ones where you create in the latest versions, covert and load them in the old... convert to nif, and put them in. As opposed to 3dsmax.. where you just press a button and it works! :)

As part of my ever going quest to stop things from annoying me in Skyrim I have run into a new problem that requires a rather ambitious! These last few days I have been fixing how ice looks in my game, and as such I have spent quite a bit of time sitting on icebergs, and floating pieces. There I noticed what many before me have noticed.... its rather boring out at sea! Something is missing! And jumping from one piece of ice to the next I realized what! Fantasy killer whales! Every time I jump around I keep expecting some sort of big animal plunge out of the deeps, but always get disappointed when it does not happen. Now I have spendt most of today learning how to model a whale and I do know how to make basic animations and skeletons etc. BUT! Now the problem! I only have access to Blender! And Blender does not like to convert stuff into nif´s files or animation files required by Skyrim (No I am not going back to the early versions which can do it... since I just cant work in that outdated UI etc.). Hence no matter what I make I cannot get it into the game since I do not have 3dsmax or Maya which do have handy fancy working plugins that can do this. So just want to know if someone with good modeling experience and who are in possession of above programs would be interested in teaming up somehow?Â

Help: Loading screen freezes with possible CTD
Aiyen replied to Eu4orick's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Its ENB that runs better without multi card setups... not skyrim itself. But it is still rather pointless. However multi card setups and windowed mode can cause issues... try to get rid of that sort of thing. In general it can just cause issues. Skyrim hates being minimized... blame the game engine. In general ILS is always due to too much stuff being loaded in at once... reduce content, and they will always go away again. -
None taken. I am sure my AI is about as clever as yours! :P Only difference is that yours have more sticks and stones to throw at me, and the other way around! :)

What would you do with an old PC like this?

Ultimate licences tend not to be OEM as I recall. -

Aiyen replied to Smile44's topic in Step Skyrim LE Packs (retired)
Not really something to patch... its fundamental flaws in the values... easier to save an .esp slot and just alter the mod itself. And hey.. happy to help, half of what I do is fixing issues people post here and on the ENB forums so they do not annoy me ingame! :) -

Aiyen replied to DanielCoffey's topic in Step Banter Inn
Bury it with honors ? :p Well first off I would properly get some compressed air and clean it properly. Since much of the noise issue comes from this. If it is still too bad, then individual fans are not expensive. Would properly also reapply some thermal paste etc. As for its uses... well normally what I do with my old hardware was to give it to people who do not spend money on the latest of the latest, they then give me a beer or two and then we call it even! :) -

The difference between the light and dark parts of the image :) Your flame girl is all red! Hence contrast is normally rather high! -

It shows you which mod alter the same records. The mod furthest to the right is the one whose records is used ingame. -

If you want you can solve it yourself. I have moved on to other stuff. Open the CK with ESS as the active plugin. Search under weathers a99 (might be a8 for non dawnguard...double check in tes5edit what they are. ) Then you get them all. Select Day from the pull down on the left. Open cloud layer 27 and set its alpha = 1.0 Repeat for all weathers.. problem solved! If you also want to solve the glowing clouds at night then Select cloud layer in the pull down. Select Night in the other pull down. The color is set at 255, 255,255 which is just insane imo. Even vanilla lighting will overbloom it. Set it to like 65, 65 , 65 for every weather and done. :) Takes about 10 mins to do.
