  1. Okay so I started up this horrible idea of a project! So far I managed the following! 1: alter the water color so it is is not glowing! 2: Failed to figure out how to make a boat not contain water... so just crashed it on a rock somewhere! 3. made a cozy camp fire from where I can begin my adventures! Next up I guess I will try to map out the entire area and figure out bit by bit what to add where in terms of general ideas.
  2. Simply put... the raw horse power of the GPU. There are simply too many computations required for every pixel for the GPU to be able to do them fast enough to maintain a high FPS output at the same time. You can most likely get quite a bit out of your current card... but you will not be able to run any of those presets that say they are high quality since that most likely mean that they enabled everything, and set the quality of those effects to the highest... which can cripple even the best of cards at higher resolutions. You can most likely find something that you like if you just do a bit of minimal tweaking, and setup your ini files properly to reduce a few quality settings and draw distances etc. The most demanding settings are shadow resolutions and grass draw distance... if you do not care about grass at all you can simply disable it and get massive amounts of FPS. In ENB then make sure to setup the SSAO and reflections to lower quality... you can even disable reflections in exteriors for quite a few FPS. Finally you can set (Under SSAO and Reflection) the sizescale and sourcetexturescale to 0.5 instead of 1 .. this will also free up large amounts of performance.. at the cost of some fine detail. Ofc. if you got the money to invest in a modern card then by all means do that... atm there is not even a competition.. the 900 series of Nvidia is the best in all aspects, from power consumption to raw power.
  3. Assuming that the profiles of the Geforce Experience works then any program specific settings will override the global values whenever they are different and the application is running. So I guess it goes like this in an ideal world Driver Application Profile > Driver Global > Application settings Also no changes will enter the games .ini´s ... there are just certain things that will automatically override. In the case of AA for example.. if the game calls for AA or the driver does it is more or less the same thing. It is the same sort of core code that runs in the background and does the AA. In the case of hardware AA that is anyways.
  4. Ini files etc. only take effect if a setting is set to application controlled. Otherwise the driver setting will always overrule.
  5. epic! ... win!
  6. It makes the meshes larger in the game world so it seems like they cover more ground. Hence you need to load less of them to get the same relative coverage. Only real problem with the mod is that it makes the meshes about as large as character which you will start to notice eventually.
  7. Increasing the grass density will reduce the number of meshes loaded. In turn with "shadows on grass" on this reduce the shadow computation. Reduced number of meshes = less shadow computation = more performance = less resource use. The GPU does not care if a mesh is 1 unit large or 10.. it cost the same amount to display. There are not fewer textures loaded.. since you most likely still have all variations of the grass loaded. However there are not that many textures.. and most of them in SFO are only 1k in size. As long as you are in any exterior cell then you most likely have them all loaded at all times anyways.
  8. As the initital testing value yes. If you experience any issues you can try other values.
  9. I am going to guess it is sorta the same as EVGA´s monitoring tools... the hooking provides onscreen info for FPS etc.
  10. Any sort of windowed mode, or multi monitor things going on?
  11. Problem is that it is not always just "some cards" ... it is "some cards and 3rd party software". It can be some mostly harmless widget addon the user likes and forgot was installed.. but it also does the same calls that ENB does which cause windows to say... access denied. Also in many cases of ENB not working then it is some DirectX dependency that is not installed... again something that is annoying, and will help create this black box type scenario.
  12. Okay let the crusade continue! No you do not need more then 2Gb of VRAM to do 2k textures... people who say that are people who say it and most likely mean you got 100% fluent gameplay and 60 FPS everywhere... or close to it anyways. At 1080p or lower it is more then powerful enough to deal with most ENB effects at decent framerates. You can ofc. still find presets that do not care about performance and only quality etc... but those will still kill even the best of things, since they where never meant for gameplay. the i3 is fairly old, but I highly doubt that the architecture difference between 3 and 5 would make much of a difference... the 3 was still new when the game was released and hence better then what was in the consoles the game was designed for. Also ENB does not really tax the CPU.. but the GPU and memory. If you have consistent bad FPS both with ENB and without then obviously you have some setting somewhere that is not set properly, or you have something bogging your system to a crawl. I guess it would help for this if you specify where you get bad FPS, and what it specifically is. Make sure to use the console to enter the game and test, and not some old save from yonder days etc.
  13. Perhaps someone with experience with REQ will be able to offer more insights. It can be it is a plot specific bad guy who REQ just decided needed a boost... Just in general then my experience with unleveled lists is that this can and will happen... perhaps not level 100 but super strong enemies that are not meant to be dealt with until you are at least level 40 with enchanted gear of doom.
  14. With only 4Gb of memory one can question if you should even be using Enboost at all. You would most likely not be able to exceed the 3.1Gb before windows says to complain about running out of memory... and as such it decided to terminate the process. And the VRAM counter should only ever be able to go to your physical amount of VRAM. Enboost does not provide more VRAM..it only creates another process that textures can be offloaded onto so the game does not crash at 3.1Gb use. Basically anyways.
  15. If you unleveled the world then it is not so strange. It is stuff like this that is the reason why an unleveled setup is just a bad idea. It does not take the issue of some random super spawn hunting you until the end of time into account.
  16. Most of the iNeed update seems to be fixes. The major addition is the disease change, which with the .esp might become just a tad too hardcore for general gameplay... would have to try it out... really does depend on how it is implemented. As for the patches, then I guess I can live without the ability to be able to fill waterskins at random waters for now.
  17. On the latest version of ENB TAA is vastly improved... as long as you got a stable high FPS to support it. But as I understood it you had a GPU that was beast mode. Just enable it ingame or in your enblocal.ini before hand. As long as you got a high enough FPS to not get any ghosting it is the most superior form of AA.
  18. All I have found are various user made stories, based on the content and general theme of the area and period. For reference I am just going to call the dragon V since I wont even pretend to be able to spell that name. I am not going to copy up everything just the general idea. 1. At the end of Alduins last reign of terror the dragons that survived fled and went into hiding. V decided that blackreach was a great area... and took it over. 2. The next I read was that V made a deal with the dwemer for a nice cozy hideout and in exchange for info and lore, the dwemer would provide food and shelter. The giant sun was essentially a giant "dinner is served" or "we want to talk to you" kinda deal. 3. Since blackreach contain lots of Aetherium (soul gems) and an elder scroll then one can assume that V had some plan for taking over the area. It could probably also be a mix of all those really. Since there is so little to go on then it is pretty much up to the user to fill in the blanks. The fact that the dragon is made so weak made some people suggest that he got ill from not being able to fly and feast on anything other then falmer and mushrooms. I in general just think it is yet another case of bethesda wanted to do something more with it, but then ran out of time before release.
  19. There are dragons in skyrim? I never knew! :o
  20. Well I remember struggling a lot with the AGGC until I rewrote it into HLSL and split it up into component parts instead. Everything in there is essentially juts "contrast" "tint" etc. Also I personally am not programmer enough to appreciate the whole compressed r0 etc. convention. I like my variables to have sensible names where possible.. but that might just be me! The more you code, the more you just end up calling things something that is fast to type. About the various effects altering the vanilla style. Then this is hard to get away from. The game was designed without those effects, hence palette choices and values where never designed for it and will have to be compensated for. Just like for the best cloud effects you really do need some clouds that have good alpha channels etc. I guess I do not mind throwing in a few description lines if you got the code base down JawZ. Just so it aint you running away with all the glory! :)
  21. One could argue if it is worth converting the AGGC into HLSL instead of ASM for readability purposes, and explaining what things actually do. But I agree that it would most likely be much easier for new comers to use that over the default file.
  22. Okay I have more or less spoiled the entire area now by reading up on the lore and the details of the various areas. There are only three connected city states.... four if you count the silent halls I guess. But the direct lore related to that area and how big it generally is ingame leaves much to be desired in terms of ... why. In general the whole cavern was the site of a falmer rebellion during the final years before the dwemer just up n vanished. Also there is apparently a dragon down there, which explains all the dragon landing zones in the CK! After the dwemer disappearance then the whole place more or less just went to the falmer. They then started to chip away at the remaining defenses and move into the cities. As for mining then the game apparently already have this somewhat covered in that most of the geode mining sites all should be able to provide one with soul gems. The game also have the site of one earlier expedition as well as some evidence of mushroom farming. Finally the current state of blackreach is that of a falmer dominion with their slaves and torture chambers etc. as well as being a major staging area for them since it connects all the cities. From all of this I gather that it would not be out of place to add something like the following. Expand on the amount of military related structures and equipment along the roads. As well as evidence of this all being destroyed and left to decay over the ages. There is a farm house there, but no real display of any organised type of farming. Perhaps the placement of some equipment and extra structures that would show that this was a thing would be in order. Perhaps some part of blackreach showing some actual mining evidence instead of there just being shattered geode veins all over. There have apparently been a dragon down there for ages... would perhaps be cool if some indication of this was visible.. just to at least build some suspense before meeting it (from what I gather this encounter is rather lack luster since the dragon is deleveled, and it will more often then not just get destroyed by random falmer at higher levels.) Finally... add a bit more to the whole falmer dominion of the place. The lore directly states the falmer loves to do the whole torture, kill maim thing. So perhaps some indication of this... as well as showing a bit more of the herding of the chaurus they are doing in other locations. Anyways that was about what I discovered digging into the lore yesterday. And there is plenty of interesting concepts to build upon I would say.
  23. coc blackreachorigin :P
  24. Assuming that the lists function as they should then that should not be possible, since HLE-SIC does not even start to take effect until after level 10 if I recall correctly. I have noticed that there are various SIC monsters that are just too badass to handle early on.... but again this is fair enough. It is not like you would expect to go kill a giant and 10 mammoths at lvl two either! :) Anyways I digress... it should be simple enough to take a look at the lists and see how they distribute bandits. Most likely it is a bashed patch bug of some sort.
  25. Sounds like I definitely have to read up on the lore of the area! Thanks a lot krypt! Even those small tidbits does provide some good bases to build upon. I think the main limitation is that the worldspace is not the largest around! At first I would like to mainly focus on just the actual location, and then perhaps if I got the time and mood for it try to add in some new side caves etc. that would expand upon the area. But first, I guess it is time to find some lore and perhaps spoil a few quests etc. and learn what is actually what.
